Haha I still have my copy and it still runs well.

But did they redo this with present day graphics scene for scene?

I thought there is a full Halo collection with HD remakes for XBone for 60$...

Sort of, they mostly just turned up the framerates, which isn't going to change graphics by a huge margin. Most of these HD remakes are pointless, the ones by Square aside sense they usually release material previously only available in Japan.

Had it on PC, but I lost my copy.

Had some good times with the game in high school, though.

Isn't there a Halo thread for this?

Isn't that what the Master Chief Collection is? I dunno since I only have the original on PC, which I thought was an okay but not spectacular game.

I agree mostly.. except it's not pointless. It sells.

Yeah, Halo: Combat Evolved: Anniversary was 're-made' back in 2011 for the 360. By 're-made' I mean that it got an HD graphic update, redone audio and music score, new content that ties into the universe more seamlessly (the terminals), and a few maps for Halo: Reach that are remakes of previous maps from Halo: CE and Halo 2. It still uses the same game engine and voice acting however, so it's not a complete re-make.

It's part of the Halo: Master Chief Collection for Xbox One, with a Halo 2: Anniversary as part of the deal as well (with full-CGI rendered cutscenes and the same graphics update.)

Halo: MCC also has Halo 3 and Halo 4, which have both been given a clean-up, boosted frame-rate, and fresher look overall, though there has been no HD update yet. As of a couple of days ago, Halo 3: ODST has also been re-released, with the same treatment as Halo 3 and Halo 4, a better, smoother, and prettier appearance, but no overall re-do of the engine. If I had to guess, we'll get the Halo 3 update in 2017. 343 seems to be doing a remake for all of the games.

And for Halo: CE and Halo 2, it's not just a boosted frame-rate. The games have been given a complete graphic overhaul, added content, and new audio, music, and touching up to play a lot smoother and prettier. It's a very good remake... until you get to the online issues...

I mean pointless to rebuy if you already have the game. Of course it isn't pointless for Microsoft, theym making serious bank and all of them.

The Xbox One remake added more content?

I really hate to play my games on 800x600 resolution.

Terminals, hidden content that tie into the story more, hints for Halo 5, and new MP maps.

Fair enough. As a player, I guess, it's not pointless simply because of convenience having them all packaged like this. And the last time I played the first Halo was when it launched..and it was co-op on someone else's machine. Never bought it..never even paid attention to the story really.

So yeah, mostly a frame rate thing. At least for me, none of that is worth buying Halo for a third time.

Nope. Only two Halo games have thus far ever been released for the PC. Gearbox did a port for the first game back in 2003. All it really added (outside a modkit) was a few new maps for MP at the time. So the answer, overall, for you would be no. They never redid Halo for the PC. There is the High-def remake, but that's console only.

Halo 2 was ported by Microsoft to the Windows Vista operating system back in 2007, though it's pretty much reviled. Since then, Halo has been an absolute Xbox exclusive. Though if rumors are true, Microsoft might release Halo 5 on the PC at some point in the future.

Not really, but whatever. For me, it's so I can play the games on One. Reach and Wars are the only two that I need a 360 for.

You evidently had the whole remake in classic mode then and never realized (the Anniversary edition of Halo comes with the ability to switch between original and new graphics). The actual graphics overhaul puts it nearer to Halo 3's quality.

If you're talking about the Xbox One Edition then it's the same game so obviously it's not going to be different from the Xbox 360 release. The Halo collection on Xbox One is just so players can have access to all the games on the same console, also so those who never had the prior Xbox's can finally experience the entire series of Halo so I wouldn't say it was made just as a quick cash-grab.

Nice. I didn't even open my copy yet. I didn't know it was that improved.
