I have yet to beat Mass Effect 2 on Insanity, done hardcore once upon a time. So started a new save now and imported one of my level 30 characters, an Adept. Been playing for a few hours and i feel way to squishy compared to playing soldier and infiltrator on Hardcore. Any tips on how to make adept work at insanity? What bonus power to take and what powers to use in general? Also the best team comp?

Not an expert on this but I'd take Energy Drain. You'll be able to restore your shields and remove one more protection layer. Warp deals with armor and barriers, ED with shields. Singularity can stagger enemies. Use Warp on lifted enemies for biotic explosions. For squadmates I'd pick Miranda + Jack. Miranda has Overload - one more option against shields and Warp - one more option against armor, Jack has very fast Pull Field which you can use to prime targets for your/Miranda's Warp and Warp Ammo for the squad.

One of the better Adept guides that may help:
Adepting through Insanity by Average Gatsby. Note that he used Wide Singularity; later on more people championed Heavy Singularity as the better evolution. But his advice is still solid.
See also: List of Strategy Guides Found on the Forum. (For the most recent links since the forum change, you may want to start here.)
Best bonus powers for the Adept, in no particular order:
- Energy Drain, if you want a power that can strip shields quickly.
- Warp Ammo, since it increases damage to enemies lifted by biotics (Singularity and Pull).
- Stasis, since it works great at only 1 point and fits a nice spot with the other Adept powers. Requires Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC. On PC, there is a bug where you cannot select Stasis as a bonus power when starting a new game, so you have to wait until you recruit Mordin to unlock the Research Terminal before changing your bonus power.
Slam is a decent bonus power to have until you put points into your own Pull.
Level 30 builds:
4 - Heavy Warp
4 - Heavy Throw
4 - Heavy Singularity
4 - Pull Field
0 - Shockwave
4 - Bastion
1 - Stasis
4 - Heavy Warp
1 - Throw
4 - Heavy Singularity
4 - Pull Field
0 - Shockwave
4 - Bastion
4 - Heavy Warp
4 - Heavy Warp
1 - Throw
4 - Heavy Singularity
4 - Pull Field
0 - Shockwave
4 - Nemesis
4 - Area Energy Drain
Personally, I prefer the first build. If you import a level 30 character, you will start at level 3, and will reach level 4 after talking to the Illusive Man for the first time. At level 4, I recommend this build:
2 - Warp
1 - Throw
2 - Singularity
1 - Pull
0 - Shockwave
0 - Biotic Mastery
1 - Stasis or other bonus power
From there, I recommend:
1. Maxing Biotic Mastery for cooldown bonus
2. Maxing Singularity
3. Maxing Pull
4. Maxing Warp
5. Max Throw last.
If you are building around Warp Ammo, I would leave Warp at rank 1, and put the points into Warp Ammo. Then I would probably build as follows:
1. Max Biotic Mastery for the cooldown.
2. Max Singularity
3. Max Pull
4. Max Warp
5. 1 point in Throw since you will not be using it.
I was thinking of creating a video guide for the Adept, I would probably be re-hashing Average Gatsby's advice, and it would probably be a colossal waste of everyone's time.

I found the Adept to work very well on insanity. Here is a link to my Adept Insanity playthrough. (Note: I am not all that good, but I found the Adept's power compensated for my poor play.) My main focus was on Singularity for holding enemies in place until we could shoot/overload/burn off their protection and then hit them with a Warp once they were lifted. I generally went with Energy Drain as a bonus power. For squad mates I tended to rely on strippers such as Garrus, Mordin and Miranda. Miranda was doubly good with both Warp for explosions and Overload for shield stripping. Once Thane was on the team, a Miranda-Thane combo worked very well for lots of Warp explosions. I would singularity while they would warp. Almost always one of them would be cooled down for a Warp. Kasumi could work well too for stripping and shutting Harbinger down. Her Shadow Strike does incredible amounts of damage to protections (although she tends to die more often than other squad mates when using Shadow Strike) and her Flashbang is bugged in a way that turns off Harbingers' powers for 50 seconds.
Overall, the Adept has become my favorite class in ME2 for playing on insanity.

Singularity can stagger enemies.
Singularity does more than just stagger enemies, it holds them in place for a few seconds, depending on Singularity's rank, whether you take Heavy or Wide, and on the type of enemy. Heavy, I believe, has 9 second hold duration, while wide has a 7 second hold duration. This is reduced by 20% on insanity, but the Biotic duration upgrade should cancel that out. And, I believe, Bastion will add 15% to the hold duration as well. Higher level enemies, such as Vanguards and Krogan are not held as long as basic mooks. I think I timed out a Heavy Singularity on an Eclipse Vanguard at around 6 seconds with both the duration upgrade and Bastion specialization.

Throwing in my 2 cents as well as I'm currently playing Adept on Insanity in ME2 for the first time. I take Miranda almost everywhere, as she has both Overload and Warp. Then it's usually Mordin with Incinerate.
For myself I use Heavy Singularity, Heavy Warp, and Squad Warp Ammo (and I use the Locust, which seems quite effective
). I'm not a fan of Pull, but to each his own
I have currently 7 unused points because I just never use any other powers besides Singularity and Warp.

Yeah i finally got Locust last night and it solved alot of problems. That SMG. I have gotten a better grip on it now, but i still feel squishy, have tried a few different powers. Warp Ammo is solid, Energy drain also seems strong. Going to try out Reave for a bit, changing from mission to mission just to find what works out the best.
I always bring Miranda when playing ME2, she is just solid overall. I normally take Garrus aswell, because Garrus. But think i have to sideline him now. Going to try out Mordin and Jack next and see if it produces interesting results,.

Dominate can work well too. Dominate someone in the back of the group and let the enemy concentrate on them instead of you. Early on, however, you don't have enough points to get it to a reasonable level. Rank 4 duration is really the only way to go.
And, if you didn't know, to get Dominate without doing a playthrough with Morinth, make a save before talking to Morinth in her apartment, then side with her against Samara, then after the cutscene reload your save and you will have unlocked the power.
I find Garrus to be good for shield stripping. I try to reserve Miranda for Warp explosions while Garrus concentrates on shield stripping. He is also a damn good shot with the Incisor.

Others have already answered this question for the most part. I'll just add by pointing out that Adept is a control class, not a combat class. So if you approach the game as a cover shooter, Adept is going to feel very squishy. Adept is strongest when you use its control powers to shut the enemy down, giving you time and space to maneuver and set up enemies for big damage combos (like warp bombs, CQ takedowns, or crossfires). Thus pick squadmates that can instantly strip defenses, allowing you to control them with Pull, Throw, Slam, etc, and use Singularity and/or Stasis to pin heavy protected enemies. Remember: a disabled enemy can't shoot at you, and (as long as it remains that way) is as good as dead until you actually get around to killing it. Here is an example of this "control first - kill later" philosophy, taken to a (perhaps ridiculous) extreme...
I think others have implied this already, but one useful thing to do in build order (and this applies to Vanguard as well) is to initially take Slam and use this in lieu of Pull until you get enough XPs. Then later retrain to 1-point Stasis, replacing Slam with Pull (and eventually Pull Field).

Great video, definately made things easier. I have had a little break, but back on it now. Just did the Collector ship and things are looking up. What armor is the one to use btw? Blood Dragon the most obvious choice? I also have the Collector Cithin armor and a few others.

For ME2 I generally think the ad-hoc (custom) armor is best. I usually play close quarters, so Strength Boost Pads (+25% melee damage) is high on shopping list. Depends a bit on your DLC, but I usually go with Kuwashii Visor (+10% head shot damage), Capacitor Chest-Plate (-10% shield regen delay), Kestrel Arm Sheathing (+10% melee damage + token shield/weapon boost), and Stimulator Conduits (+10% storm speed). To be honest I am not sure whether any of it makes much of a real difference (probably mostly psychological). Yet I continue to wear it on the off chance it will help. I also avoid black cats crossing my path and touch wood whenever making any kind of optimistic statement. This may disqualify me from expressing any opinion on the matter.

Just finished it on insanity. The Suicide mission was fairly easy, but then again with all the upgrades the dmg output is insane. Now to import over to ME3. Not playing Adept again any time soon. So thanks for all the help!
