Solos in general with a non cheese class. I've only been able to do 1 silver without the Jugg, TGI, or Kroguard (if preset to geth). It's still easy for me to get swarmed and cut off as I still haven't figured out how to control spawn points resulting in numerous look behind you...no to the left...other left....**** it. Probably doesn't help I try to use "fair classes" with minimal consumables

 

Try doing it on Giant.  Easiest map to keep enemies coming from a single direction, and every location has multiple escape routes.  Also, try the Batarian Soldier.  When you're getting overwhelmed and need to GTFO, just toss a few Inferno Grenades on your way out the door.  Half the stuff chasing you will be dead shortly.

 

My toughest personal challenge?  Getting the GDMF Lancer to drop.

RNG Jesus, trying to branch out to classes that I do not prefer, being a mediocre sniper.

I don't think there's anything truly tough in this game... unless we count tedious crap like promoting.

In solos, maybe a plat game with a Phalanx volus adept, VS Geth. Despite armored compartments, it felt endless.

 

In team, probably a plat game with level 1 vanilla humans using common weapons. I think it was actually hardest than a plat solo with good gear.

I'm no good at solos. Stress gets to me. As such, I do not feel I am likely to ever complete a platinum solo. I just tense up and start making stupid mistakes. Things like panicking and running away with no shields when I have ample time to take cover and regen shields. Or, my personal favorite, hitting the ops pack too early as I see something incoming.

I've been close. SOOOO close. Disconnect on like wave 10 or something, I forget exactly now. Point being, I was too stressed out to be encouraged by my last run. I needed to stop.

After BSN, honourable mentions would be:

 

Unsuccessful: Platinum solo. I don't think I could ever pull one of these off, but whether I could or I couldn't has become irrelevant. I have learned that the only way I would be doing it would be by repeatedly doing something frustrating that I don't enjoy, it would take many hours, and would probably be unsuccessful. Thus, I don't worry about it, anymore, because I don't consider it worth the headaches just for the sake of saying that I did it.

 

Successful: Getting my first Gold Solo with a Shadow. There were at least 30 attempts over a couple of months, sometimes trying for 4-5 hours at a time. They almost always ended in a Wave 7 or 8 Phantom synch-kill, usually around the 1 hour mark. I still can't quite believe that I kept trying after that. But, eventually, after a 93-minute long attempt that came with having to answer the door for a client, having the cat knock the TV cable loose, having to complete a phone call, and a period of about a minute where I just blanked out and stared into space from my brain shutting down, I managed to do it. The lesson is: Don't make your first Gold attempt specific to your favourite kit - make it specific to whichever one will make the solo the easiest. I love the Shadow, but she is not a good solo kit.

A flawless(*) gold solo against hydra/geth with Human Infiltrator equipped with a mantis and lancer.
 
(*) No usage of in-game consumables - ops, gels, rockets and TCPs banned.

Condition: Full extraction on Firebase Hydra vs Geth, Flawlessly That is: no Missiles, ops packs, medigels or thermal clips used in game, 10 waves survived required. (you can use equipment and gear on initial loadout screen)
Character: Human female infiltrator
Weapons: M92-Mantis and M7-Lancer (both)

Oi, I joined under Smooth's leadership with him it being... difficult because we are friends cos I sucked. That was painful and my biggest challenge so far.  

 

Easier to buy a Xbox, friend Max and solo Thunderdome.

You definitely earned it. I just liked the whole extremely rigorous play station process compared to xbox's play a few games and impress one officer and you're in.
