Yeah.
But tbh.
It's like "bad boy, don't commit genocide!"
Not a real consequence xD
I liked Many A True Nerd's response
Oh! Oh, the man who got handed a script that had the word "midi-chlorians" in it and didn't immediately resign in protest is disappointed in me. I may have done terrible, terrible things, Liam Neeson, but I was never the lead in a Star Wars film about a dispute over the taxation of trade routes, so I guess that makes us even.
I'd prefer if they got rid of the Karma system, if only to discourage Bethesda from building the story choices around it,
I like FNV's combination of Karma and reputation. You can be an asshat, but as long as your their asshat, they'll tolerate you. Mostly.

Sure looks like the Rage engine to me! ![]()
holy hell, looks like I made the official fallout thread. lel
One thing I always hated was how you would lose Karma for stealing from criminals.
In the words of Yahtzee Chroshaw "Moral choice system needs to drink some paint and retard itself out of existence".
Its fundemental purpose is to restrict content and force you to play the game twice, which is not replay-value, because it's not letting you roleplay as you are always Mr McNice or Mr McDick, and given the skewered concept that is "Good" & "Evil" I think it's fair to assume that we are smarter than that -- They are utterly meaningless given its meaning is always interpreted differently from one society to another.
So, in other words, I hope Karma doesn't play a role in Fallout 4, the same way it did in previous games -- It was not necessary in the Elder Scrolls games and it's not necessary here. I also don't like how the game resents me from stealing from a guy, like how in Hitman Absolution the game would go.
"Nope! You just strangled a man with the fiber-wire. 100 points from Gryffindor". Like why is the game punishing me for playing the game the way I want when the game was the one who brought up the concept of freedom in the first place?
I blew up a city full of people but it's okay since my pops gave me a stern talking to and I donate a lot of water bottles to a hobo.
Bethesda has a somewhat recent history of patronizing moral choices. Just play through Dishonored while having the game lecture you for having fun.
In any case, the binary moral choice system is becoming tiring.
FO4 is already up for pre order on amazon
I have a PS4 copy in my cart
If you snatch a Plasma Rifle from some Grandma's house, then it's forever soaked in the stentch of bad karma and resentment, whereas if you shoot a bloke outside by a dustbin and yoink his weapon from his corpse then that's alright then! One thing I always hated was how you would lose Karma for stealing from criminals.

Yeah Karma systems are bad enough already. They are even worse when they are as utterly insane as Fallout's.
No ass.
1/10
As a butt man, I do not approve.
Where are my firm asses at?
Nuclear fallout can do all sorts of things to a person.

Fallout has a history of questionable moral choices. In Fallout 2, you would get positive karma for killing prostitutes in New Reno. I effectively became Jack the Ripper in the game by that point.
That's an understatement.
You could play as a 16 year old porn star/prostitute and smack a young boy in the testicles with a sledgehammer.

Incidentally, this takes me back to the days of the intro glitch in New Vegas -- It was actually strangely appropriate to that of the situation too!
If you guys can't wait until E3 to learn more about Fallout 4, Barack Obama has some secrets to share.

*snip*
I'm looking forward to Fallout 4 for pimps tbh.
I'm all in.
The game looks horrible but it's Fallout and it's Bethesda so it will probably have an amazing atmosphere.
Hail Masterbrain.
