I have some trouble believing the male-only protagonist bit...voiced maybe, but I'll believe the lack of a gender option when I see it.

Dude they wont make is male only. lots of the fans got annoyed at the lack of an option in Rage. and that wasnt to bad of a game IMO.

Bethesda always releases particularly large DLC quite a bit after the game has been out. Why they would change this now I don't know.
Fallout 3 was originally going to be a male-only PC. Female was added late in development and there are lines in the game and characters who refer to you as a male.

Silent protagonist is cheaper to implement than a voiced protagonist. Which is why they usually fit well in games of this scope. For every line created a line has to be created.
Makes me wonder what direction they are going with this. Are any of the people on the previous fallout team on this? Or should I expect it to be as shallow as 3?

Yeah but that's Fallout 3. That had lot's of stupid stuff like that. I suppose I should expect the same from Fallout 4.

I think if done right a voiced protagoinist would bring life into a player character. I don't think Bethesda would have a boring voice actor to play them.
I had a vibe of something like cryogenic freezing. Where we are a survivor of the original Apocalypse and are leaving our Vault after our cryo tank shuts down.
Just a gut instinct.
That actually sounds possible given the fact we're apparently leaving a long abandoned vault.

I just love the colour palette in the trailer. The way it is used to make the past look so bright and then just throw a filter over it in the future, make it abit more dusty, but keep that crips colour is just good design. Watching the trailer over and over again, all the attention to detail and so much are meshed instead of just pure texture now. It is just an amazing trailer on the technical level.

They probably won't hire someone in-house, if they're going with a voiced protagonist this time though.

Just saw the new trailer - leaves me intrigued. If I had to be stuck with a voiced male-only protagonist, I probably wouldn't mind in this case (normally, I play a female if possible). That's because my love of radioactive wastelands, plasma weapons, and Dogmeat is eternal and trumps just about everything else, including being able to create a female character.

I don't think this is Dogmeat this time (or son of Dogmeat). It's a German Shepherd, last time around it was one of those Aussie dogs like Mad Max has.
You could probably still call him Dogmeat if you want though.
