Not saying it was as good, bad or indifferent than the Phantom Menace, just that is how the "feel" of the movie was as different as the feel of FO3.
Stop saying "Phantom Menace." It's giving me PTSD flashbacks! ![]()

That's impossible. I killed him in Fallout 3 with a Fat Boy.
Maybe the Institute is trying to revive Masterbrain for something?
Masterbrain was the villain in Fallout 1.
I'm seeing a lot of posting, but I'm not seeing a lot of Hailing Masterbrain.
Hail Masterbrain.

Good Goris, I wish I could recruit someone like you (of your same race).
Institute... hmm.
*smacks self and hangs head in shame* My bad, I was thinking of the Master.

I'm saying you can't argue with the fact that FO3 wasn't a good Fallout game. Mainly because you haven't played the other games in the series to make an educated response about what "being a good Fallout game" even entails.
Many younger people saw Star Wars: Phantom Menace as their first Star Wars movies when it debuted fifteen years ago. Being younger, they may have liked it because of Jar Jar or the "fun" pod races. But the movie was a bad Star Wars movie, even if it may have made a good kids movie if it was standing on its own. That's what Fallout 3 is - the Phantom Menace of the Fallout series.
I'm glad you were introduced to the series, but I'd like to see future titles remain close to the roots of the series, especially if it can bring new fans along for the ride.
First of all. How do you know which Fallout games i have played? I said that FO3 was my introduction to the universe, not that i haven't played the others since, which i actually have. I am not as well versed in the lore as others, but i gave all the games a fair shot, because that is what you do with a series. Also it seems you are implying that i like Phantom Menace
and that i cannot let stand, i demand satisfaction!
Even if Fallout 3 isn't a Fallout game as you say, it doesn't detract from me enjoying the hell out of it still. I do prefer FNV because it got me more immersed in the lore and then gave me hunger to play all the games in the series. There is nothing more to say, we are in disagreement and unfornately for most original Fallout fans Obsidian/Black Isle will never do a new Fallout game, that i am pretty sure of. It will be a Bethesda Game Studios exclusive from now on.
Yep. Villain in Fallout 1 was just named "The Master."
I've never finished F1 (I will try), but the video with the final speeches always gives me the creeps.
This actually sounds a LOT like the fake FO4 website that went up in 2013.

Deep research into the hidden messages there indicated the Instittute was located in Boston, a favored rumor location of FO4.
Kotaku got some supposed leaked documents a couple of years back that mentioned the Institute and Boston. It adds up though, the Commonwealth, Massachusetts and the Institute were mentioned a bit in Fallout 3.

God, I hope the Intelligent Deathclaws surviving is made canon in this.
Ignoring all the potential they have as a species and plot point for the series, I really just want to rub it in Chris Avellone's stupid talented face.

You are not alone, Cyonan. I, too, really enjoyed both. I honestly prefer the atmosphere and Capital Wasteland of 3, but liked the factions and overall gameplay improvements better of NV.
Exactly the same for me. I thought the atmosphere and surroundings in FO3 were a bit more immersive than NV, loved both games though, and certainly the gameplay and writing in NV were big improvements.
Fallout4! Skyrim with guns!
I haven't actually played any of the Fallout games, but I'm hyped as **** because F4 will probably be as accessible (if not more) as Skyrim. Main reason why I can't stand playing the previous games (and the previous TES games too for that matter) is because their game mechanics feel really clunky, outdated and artificial to me (and also because of the fugly faces, but at least I can mod the graphics).

Joke post?
Joke post?
nope genuine post, but hey at least I'll be getting F4
They should just release a toolkit with premade stuff in it, and finally drop acting like they can make decent games worth buying day 1.
I've never finished F1 (I will try), but the video with the final speeches always gives me the creeps.
Was it Fallout 1 that set that standard later replicated in many, many RPGs - namely the ending showing consequences of more important choices that the player did (usually in a form of a narrated slideshow)?
Or was there some other game before FO1, that already did that?

Hail Masterbrain.

What are you expecting this will be? Do you have any experience with Bethesda games? What you described sounds like the antithesis to their games.

Well... at least they're accessible.
At least FO3 and Skyrim are.
But they do have clunky gameplay and ugly faces.
I'm confused now.

What exactly about Fallout 3 and New Vegas do you find clunky?
