Funny you should mention that, homie. There's this Japanese Role Playing Game (aka Emo Teenage Trash 4) that does this exact thing.

OOoooooooooooh, snaps.

Food requirement.

'Your level 98 master warrior has died due to not finding a mango.'

I like things like the paragon and renegade scores but I'd like them to be hidden which i know some games do.

while we are doing that. Why not make bathroom requirements as well.

Blade Mode from Rising was fun

The Sanity Effects from Eternal Darkness -- Play with what you think can be done for horror games; Bring the horror across the 4 walls of the TV which will only improve the experience

Metal Gear Solid is unique in its attention to detail -- There are so many, usually very hidden and unknown, ways to approach boss battles or sneaking through enemy territory. In MGS3, you can take advantage of the real-time counter on your console to have The End die of old age -- You also have the option of sniping him, immediately after a certain cutscene involving him, which incidentally makes you skip his upcoming boss battle but it's an incredible funny easter egg. A bit shame to cheat yourself of a tense boss battle but there it is. Take notes from Kojima in the gameplay department because there's a lot of love put into Metal Gear there too.

Deus Ex gave the opportunity to skip boss battles (effectively sneaking past them) -- All of that would be neat to see again.

Hitman Blood Money or Thief 2's option for sprawlyness -- Bring back the memorable sprawly level designed maps instead of all these not-so-memorable open worlds we are getting. I prefer something like the Asylum in Arkham 1 over say the city in L.A. Noire which is nothing more than an auxiliary that doesn't serve the game much overall.

Low attribute would cause it to take longer & more cramping.

You still bitter about that Fade? Never knew that talking unfavorably of a video game could cut you so deep, let it go homie.

Lol bitter? Calm down fam. Referencing your phrasing is not an act of bitterness. You can sh*t on everything I stand for and it wouldn't matter to me.

I'd like to see more knobs and levers when it comes to difficulty. Namely for things like RPGs. Usually, higher difficulty translates into things like beefed up enemy health bars.

What if I want the game to be faster-paced where everyone, including the player, has minimal health?

A good example of this is with Fallout 3's Wanderer edition mod. It added intensity to the game and removed the silliness of firing 4 shotgun shells into someone's face.

Luck stat would be MOST crucial to avoid empty toilet rolls.

A couple quick ones:

  • While I didn't care much for the story, Dishonored's Blink mechanic was one of the most interesting and novel design ideas I'd seen in a while.
  • I always get crap for this, but I'd like to see more games implement Alpha Protocol's conversation timer. Sometimes, just talking to people can be as high-pressure and high-stakes as the most pitched gun battle.
  • I liked DX:HR's system of doling out experience on the basis of accomplishing goals rather than on the basis of killing enemies. In a lot of RPG-type games, stealth is worthless because you get no XP from all of the monsters you're sneaking by, and DX:HR sidesteps this issue nicely.

I would like to see a life mechanic added into the game.

Some popular mods I added to my skyrim is the mod that lets your character age. And theres a sex/impregnation mod as well. But they come seperately. Something like that would be nice, where you can live out your character's life. It really ups the ante when you realize time is ticking down and your character might actually die of old age before he or she can finish the story.
