why OCD? it's just a learning curve. for example - i know every street in my home town, so i never u-turn because i know how to set my path. or i remember every local network i made, when i was working in IT industry.

Because it's the type of thing I get OCD about. I tend to plan EVERYTHING out, and the Souls games allow me to do that consistently with a high margin of success. Although, it is likely it may just be part of my OCD issues.

Combat, especially in boss battles really looks like a mix of Bloodborne and Souls. Which looks like it's a good thing.

And the art style of From Software games continues to be amazing.

Also, a Steam logo next to PS4 and Xbox One. So PC version is pretty much confirmed? Last time I looked the info was that "they're considering it".

Combat system looks exquisite and that was pretty impressive dodge at 1:40.

And hope they'll do the pc port properly.

Agreed. Let's hope the PC port releases in conjunction with the consoles, they also need to get rid of the mouse buttons delay and allow all keys, especially extra mouse buttons to be bindable, don't feel like using AHK for another Souls game.

Hopefully this time the PC port won't have controller icons show up instead of keyboard button ones.

They already plan to make it bloodborne like combat, so I'm very concerned for Dark Souls 3.

Remember the annoying gun spamming nerds? You can now shoot while rolling, or quick shoot an arrow without actually taking the time to pull the bow and shoot like in ds1.

What if they bring back the stupid charged backstab mechanic? Good luck punishing estus chuggers, Hopefully Lloyd's won't be as easy to dodge like in bloodborne.

Not too thrilled about multiple stances with a weapon, was nice wondering if a person was going to throw out a stab while we played footsies or whether they will go for a wind up slash.

IDK I'm excited about the story but I really hope pvp isn't as bad as it was in bloodborne.

From the looks of the video:

-Insta backstabs are back

-Weapon arts are like charged attacks

-The environment shown resembles Yharnam

-Darkness exists

-Big weapons swing faster

-The game plays like DKS1 sped up a bit

-The humanity counter is gone, replaced by the symbol of one's covenant

-One-handed weapons shown so far seems to have their animations ripped directly out of DKS1

-Some weapons cannot be two-handed, this is replaced by Duel-wielding (Legion Scimitars), does not fill a weapon slot

-Consumables (Firebombs and Throwing Knives) seems to be much more effective, as they are thrown with greater speed

-Video games journalists still suck at video games

Well that alleviates the nerves a bit, will say though that chug animation is fast. The concern is also using bloodborne's graphic engine, ps4 had problems with effects like fog and some magic (like the reinforcement callers in the chalice dungeons). PC master race but I like playing souls on a console to avoid as many hackers as I can, what do? Better performance or lower dbag invader hackers?

The humanity counter was pretty nice IMO from dark souls 1, am sad it did not make a return.. :o

I too am seeing some influence from Bloodborne, which is fantastic, as Bloodborne had exceptional fluid combat.

For pve it was fantastic!!

For pvp it felt like a who had more vials scenario, easy to recover from bad scenarios and very little variation in build or tactics.

That mostly due to it abandoning some of it's building defining mechanics, namely weight and roll types. Worrying about weight was non-existent, so everyone was fast rolling. There was also the limited weapon selecting and since every weapon had a fast and slow mode, excluding Tonitrus and Beast Claws, everyone could just spam fast attacks, no matter the weapon. There was also the problem of invaders losing about 40% of their maximum health in invasions, which naturally led to vial spams, not to mention that spells took bullets, which means blood bullets, which means more vial spamming.

They also didn't really reward players to much for trying different types of weapon augmentation like slow poison builds Or rapid poison.

If the game adhered to those elements you spoke of I think you would have seen less people going with gun spam builds.

Let's also hope that they have a hollow / humanity system like in dks1, way better than soul memory and especially better than bell maidens

Switched the video off after a couple of minutes out of sheer boredom. I've already played the game for 200 hours after all.

For reference: They took Bloodborne, put a medieval skin over it and said "ta da!"

I don't know maybe it will feel different when actually playing but I can't say I'm impressed so far more so when we have Mizazki back for the PvP with instant back stabs back in to cheese other players and NPC's. The PvP in Bloodborne was also crap with the instant healing. Dark Souls 2 got it right but it looks like they're taking steps back...again.

My first thought during the video was "Well, it looks more like Dark Souls now" compared to DS2's change in atmosphere. Not really seeing enough of the gameplay to determine whether I should start throwing tomatoes or throwing cash. If they pull out a 10-15 minute demo of actual gameplay over a trailer, we'll have a better idea of how the new game holds up.

2 minutes can't really sum up 40-50 hours. However, it's true they didn't do much to entice people besides nostalgia.

Exactly my thoughts.

Unlike Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne which looked new in terms of design and artstyle, Dark Souls 3 doesn't look much different. Even the enemies are lifted from Bloodborne, the sky box is the same and they have the exact same dragon on the bridge from Dark Souls 1. I guess From Software has run out of ideas.

The gameplay isn't new either since next to burrowing from Bloodborne, they've done away with the weight system and it's back like it was in Demon's Souls with all the fast rolling while wearing heavy armor.

At least in gameplay, it looks to be the case. VaatiVidya played through a bit of what they have so far, I'd say Weapon Arts are the part I'm most curious about. I'm guessing they wanted something akin to Bloodborne's Transforming Trick Weapons to add combat variety, without just a mechanical copy and paste. Almost reminds me of Jade Empire's handling of different stances, minus the hand-to-hand combat...unless Hidetaka and the rest really want me to slap demons silly.

Storyline is harder to tell - they're definitely interested in keeping a strong level of continuity with previous Souls' games. Even as early as DS2, they've showed interest in bringing storytelling to the forefront instead of just NPC dialogue and reading descriptions. DS3 may show better improvement with that. I'm sure they've taken notes from their work on Bloodborne, so here's hopin'.
