Probably better off waiting anyway. Maybe you'll end up liking how it is in the beta then it turns out totally different. Or maybe you will like something in the beta and it's not as awesome in the final, possibly ruining your first impression of it. That + progress won't be saved so it's only useful if you want to help provide feedback and maybe aid in shaping a solid patch with minimal bugs.
