I've been playing DAO for a week and keep noticing what look like vapors coming from different team members including my warden.  I assumed that indicated some level of injury and used the injury kits, particularly when you call up the menu and certain injuries are indicated with red icons.  Well currently, no injuries are noted when you pull up the menu to equip your people yet I still see the vapors.  Rather awkward, particularly when romance scenes come up.

What's going on here?  How do I stop the "vapors"?  Where should you check to see if your characters have injuries or does the absence of the red icons mean that he/she is in full health?

Also, how do the potions work?  Typically, I give the potion-making power to my mages.  So if you have a potion that's supposed to enhance your weapons in some way or make your characters less vulnerable to cold or hot, does it work for the whole team or only for those characters that can take the potions?

These are sustained abilities. As their name implies these can be toggled on or off. Note that some sustainables affect the entire party, so even if your character does not have any of these, he may still be affected by a sustainable activated by another party member. Active sustainables can be seen in your character sheet.

Once made, potions can be used by anyone. Generally, they affect only the individual who used the potion. Poisons, grenades and traps are different. To use them, a character needs to have (a least) one tier of poison/trap-making.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try toggling off the sustain abilities while in camp to see if that's what I'm seeing.

Also, thanks for clarifying potions versus poisons/grenades.  I should give more of my team access to grenades by giving them tier 1 just so they can get at stuff already made.  Same applies for traps I suppose.

Sorry to butt in - poisons and traps do indeed work this way. But I'm pretty certain grenades and bombs do not. Like potions, they can be equipped by anyone, surely...?

I'll give you an example. If Leliana uses "Song of Valor" you get a pink glow around you. You can't turn it off your character, but you can turn it off if you switch to her and click the icon.

I did have a weird thing happen though in my last PT. My Mage had a blue aura around her that would not go away, so I had to reload and it vanished finally.

..and, if you're using a PC, there are mods that can adjust this affect

Nope, I just went to the Deep Roads with nobody in my party with the poison-making skill and forgot to stash all my poisons and bombs away before I left, so I had about ten wasted inventory slots, including the bombs. Actually, it makes more sense to me that you'd need a skill to accurately throw stuff at enemies (making sure you throw it far enough away to avoid splashback on allies etc) than to smear a bit of goop on a blade!

Of course, if you don't disable it from the tactics, she will activate it again.
