It could work as a Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers style show. Different cast every season, rotating villains, etc.

Interesting idea, but I'd use True Detective as the base rather than Power Rangers. Every season, a different story set somewhere in Thedas. Events primarily linked by theme, but possibly one small bit in Season 1 could somehow impact Season 2, and so on.

I think it'd be an amazing series and could go in any direction the writers pleased. I'd like to see the backhistory of Fenris played out where he's a slave (okay, seeing Gideon Emery in chains may have something to do with that). Or anything they liked.

You know, 24 uses that style as well. Some small thing impacts the next season, etc. Supernatural is a master at this.

It would have to be animated. Live action would be too Game of Thronesy, and you wouldn't be able to pull off all the necessary special effects that would be needed for magic and creatures.

I would prefer storyline about old legends from the previous ages, such as the Storm Age or even the Blessed Age. Some more story about Andraste, or Calanhad, or Maric. Stories that add to the series, not stories that would be canon only if you made these choices.

They could do a series on present-day characters, but I think that would end up conflicting with too many personal canons.

I would watch a Dragon Age series. Preferably one on Netflix or a premium channel. I think a lot of people would compare it to Game of Thrones though.

That's why I suggested using the multiplayer characters. They're in the game, but don't play a significant role, so people who casually play can find someone familiar, while those who play seriously won't have their choices overturned.

But would people dislike that as well? Do people project personalities onto the multiplayer characters? I wouldn't know since I don't play multiplayer.

You don't really know what "whining" actually is, do you?

The mp characters have their own...well character that's displayed through their banter with one another. For example. Belinda the Templar us probably the most friendly warrior I've ever had the pleasure of fighting beside, while Sidony, the mage is cold and calculating and will do everything to gain more power. Even going so far as to tell the other members she'll take their corpses if they die (she's a necromancer).

This is NOT the game dropped onto a tv screen. Get that out of your head because it's stupid and inane. This is a stand-alone in the Dragon Age world. Here's an idea; pretend you're not a gamer for a moment.

Childish rant aside, I'm just as entitled to my suggestion as you are to yours. Whether or not it's standalone doesn't dictate what format it's in. Dawn of the Seeker, the movie that delved into Cassandra's past was animated. With an anime-esque feel.
A reason Supernatural (which you have brought up twice now) is still going strong is partially because of the setting. It's modern, so there's minimal set building and costume design and makeup needed. Contrast that to the necessary set pieces and costumes one would need for Dragon Age. Just think, for instance about the cost of one decent cosplay outfit for one event. Then multiply that by your principle cast, so about 6-9 if were talking about a full Dragon Age party. Don't forget to add in villains, villagers and random other people they'll meet. Oh and varying locales! You're also going to need money for spellcasting and other effects. And we do have to pay the actors at some point. And the crew...and other various costs tied to production and post production.
These are just SOME of the things a show must consider.
So here's an idea: pretend you actually can think about more than how it looks.

All you want is to drop the game into a tv series. Do that and it'll be dead inside a month. If a series were to happen, it has to happen beyond the game.

You've said as much before, so we'll see how that goes.
I guess I'll repeat myself again, for those whose comprehension is lagging behind their screen:
Whether or not the series is live action or animated isn't of huge import. My biggest and foremost concern, my dear, is that due process and resources are allocated to allow the flourishing of such an undertaking so as not to have the endeavor be "dead inside a month" as you proclaim. This means not only deciding on the aesthetic to be used, but also the processes to achieve that aesthetic. Ultimately, darling, the goal should be to attract those who have never heard of the games, and invite them into the world of Thedas. This must be done of course with the longtime fans in mind as well, as the world should look familiar to them while remaining mysterious enough to pique their interest.
Now consider this: while I have, in many posts outlined ideas and reasons behind my sentiments, all that has come from you are disparaging and unseemly remarks. If one cannot stand criticism of one's idea, and be open to a dialogue, then one should not engage a discussion by posting said idea on a public forum; especially in one labeled "feedback and suggestions". Now do run along, my dear; the adults in the room have things to discuss.

I love the OP, they're so crazy!

Not crazy like me, but a different and less fun kind of crazy. It's the type of crazy you smile and nod to like when you have a grandparent who's a little bit on the old fashioned side (in the bad way) and you just smile, nod, and agree with what they say just so you don't have to deal with them getting huffy.

You know, that kind of crazy.

the adults in the room have things to discuss.

Indeed we do, my friend!

People have brought up wanting to see past events, but there is a part of me that doesn't really want this to be a thing for a few reasons:

- Dragon Age takes place in the Dragon Age. You couldn't really call it Dragon Age then have something take place in the Steel, Storm, or Ancient Ages. Well- you could, but- still! It feels wrong somehow, to me anyways. You'd have to call it. . .uh. . .Tales of Thedas or something I don't know I hate titles.

- I'd like for past events to remain vague and not be seen in elaborate detail. I don't want to witness the events of the time of Andraste. Keeping key past (and I do mean ancient past) events vague or as vague as possible helps keep the player from 'knowing' everything about the world which I believe helps preserve some of the wonder in it. It also lets us better watch the characters interpret those past events without the player having that intimate knowledge (out of character, that is.)

Finally David Gaider could preach at non-gamers as well at gamers. G-I Joe style PSAs could start and end every episode.

Yeah, you'll have a Chanter randomly pop up and teach children to sing reggae.

The point here is NOT to just drop the game onto your tv screen. Sorry if that disappoints. I say it should stay live-action to remove it further from the game. The point is to use the world to create a tv series with some characters from the game. The tv series should be a stand alone that gives nod to the games and books. It should NEVER inform game design or vice versa. That is something that has to happen if a tv series is to be made.

That would be extremely hard on its own, considering most of the actors look nothing like their characters. If you decided to get someone who did look the part, they wouldn't sound right.

Have you seen Gideon Emery or Felicia Day? The characters were modeled after their looks.

2 examples doesn't really change what I said. The vast majority are still like that.

It is more like Thundercats now, though. than Game of Thrones.
