losing Thessia (come on, people hate that mission mostly because they were bested by Kai Leng. That sting will never go away).

No, people hate that mission because they can't hate being bested by Kai Leng in-game because they're too busy crying over the poor asari.

No. The player was never bested by Kai Lame because he was never given the possibility to win. Shepard was bested because thats what the writer wanted. In RPG terms, it was a very obvious case of Railroading. Thats why people hate it.

Ehh.... Hopeless Boss Fights have been done in other games and they weren't so bad. Granted, most are accomplished by making the boss undefeatable in gameplay. Wiping the floor with Kai "I broke a nail, let me recharge" Leng only to lose in a cutscene is a tad annoying.

But the main issue is still going forced emo about the asari.

You destroy several gunships on foot before that fight, but suddenly you can't take a gunship.

What I hated about it was the fight itself. It led to nothing. All Kai Leng had to do was have the gunship fire at the supports once TIM was finished talking. The fight was not necessary

Kai Leng was not necessary. He was a pointless character.

Thing is, I feel that there really needed to be some extension of TIM's will other than faceless mooks that you've been killing since the start of the game. It's just that he wasn't executed well.

TIM had infiltration cyborgs that are stronger, faster, more powerful and more intelligent than a human. Kai Leng was a stupid character that was only put in the game because of the stupid novels.

The novels were cool. I wish they had continued some of the themes in them better (the human biotic stuff). The games just became about aliens (and this stuff only gets a small conclusion at Grissom). It seemed like Drew had an entirely different, human centric concept of what the series was about.

There was never much tension involved with the combat. I never had the FEAR of dying,

If you want fear of dying, play hardcore. If Shep dies you can't reload from save but have to start again. The tension goes right up!!! They should put this mode in ME4.

A perma-death mode would be amusing.

Of course, an infinite loop would've been created at the beginning of ME2 had that been an option. ;)

I never read Deception btw.

I'm just talking about Anderson and Kahlee in the first two. There's nothing particularly bad about them.

There's also nothing remotely good about them. They're just blah books written for the sake of being written.

I disagree. To each their own. I actually liked Saren more in the books.

And I liked that back then, human endeavor was still a "thing" in the overall atmosphere of Mass Effect. It barely played a part in ME3 (like I said, Ascension has a small role. While Cerberus went full retard).

They weren't written for the sake of it, revelation was released before ME1 and was used to help set up the universe and retribution meant to fill in certain gaps between ME2 and ME3.

Yeah, but it's not like the game ever really reflected how super awesome these infiltration cyborgs were. Everything Cerberus threw at us was just a faceless obstacle to be eliminated. Regardless of how successful or how much of a failure Kai Leng was as a character in the game, I feel like a lieutenant enemy was necessary to at least make the faction a bit more engaging, since TIM himself was just a distant puppeteer that occasionally made the scene via hologram to convey more villainous exposition.

He didn't kick enough azz...I'm still waiting for my Harbinger boss fight.  Hell I'd have utilized the entire US-Russian nuclear stockpile if that's what it would have taken.

Apparently one of the first things the Reapers attacked or disabled was nuclear weaponry (or rather, the missile silos).

Looks like it could work, if they're that concerned about it though.

My bad.  Sh*t then I'll just redirect a few thousand big azz rocks from the asteroid belt.

Edit:  Assume direct control of this, pr*ck!
