I have already commented here, but I think some are missing the topic's real question. Is it worth making an alliance with the qunari? The answer is yes, it is. You get info that helps you play an active role in saving Denerim, clearing Venatori spies out of Skyhold, and destroying the Venatori spy network. Worth it.
The secondary question is if that's worth it weighed against the Chargers dying.
The answer is yes, because you can exhaust their Chore Table missions before taking on the quest in which you let them die. So you lose nothing that way.
Is it worth those characters dying? Depends how much you value their lives, I suppose. But remember, their lives were to act as mercenaries. That includes holding their position and providing cover for the dreadnaught to get out of range.

I think it's still more complicated than that. If you're roleplaying every aspect of the Inquisition (and not simply thinking you're building a military), allying with the Qunari might not be worth it philosophically. Depending on how you see things. The same person who might consider herself Herald of Andraste and helps elect a new Divine is also buddy-buddy with the Qunari? What does that mean in the longterm? Or the same guy who frees mages is also buddy-buddy with the Qunari? There's all kinds of weird combinations of roleplaying here that makes it seem like an Absurdist Comedy. So it might not be worth it for these reasons.
And there's what I mentioned above. What if Bull hooks up with Dorian? How can he be at one with the Qun and keep doing that? Or does he? Or is he just going to lobotomize his boyfriend later on? ![]()

I played an Inquisitor who allied with the Mages, got Leliana elected with her platform of including Qunari within the Chantry, and saved the Dreadnought. The Inquisitor I was playing as was big on cooperation and hopes this alliance will lead to more diplomatic ventures in the future, possibly avoid another invasion.
And if the rumors are true and the Qunari attack anyway, then they are the jerks for breaking the alliance and not the Inquisition.

Divine Leliana ending certainly isn't opening the door to peaceful co-existance in any capacity.

I'm sorry, but that's a bit.......Pollyanna-ish. You're not going to change the Qunari that easily. Why would they suddenly drop their eons old philosophy and stances, just because you made some minor Alliance. They're gonna attack your free mages, whether you like it or not. It's a deep belief for them to do so.
And why would you want to anyways? Fantasy worlds thrive on the richness of their factional interplay. If you up and change all of it and "unify" everyone into a big bundle of cooperative sameness, then you've killed the setting. The temptation to improve things should always be there, but the actual reality of "peace" sucks. Gameplay wise.

Speaking of which, does he still hook up with him if he totally embraces the Qun? It doesn't sound very Kosher to be full Qunari and hook up with a Tevinter -- let alone Saarrebas - let alone Bas Saarrebas - lover.
If so, it seems like going with the Chargers is the more consistent characterization for him.
Difficult to say. He went back to the Qun in mine, but Dorian still mentioned he had a special friend "here". I don't know if that's a reference to The Iron Bull or not.

It might be an oversight... But I'm kinda amused by the idea that it isn't.

But in that case you wouldn't deal with the Qunari at all. You would not accept the mission at all. In which case there is no choice to make.
Either Bull doesn't get involved with Dorian, or he does, and he leaves him, or he doesn't. :\
My guess is that he stops and returns to Sheheron. Then Dorian returns to Tevinter. It's also possible that Bull chooses to leave the Qun anyway, even if the Chargers die and his loyalties to the Qun are proven.

Yes, I thought it might mean the Inquisitor. In my playthrough I had not heard anything about The Iron Bull and Dorian being involved with each other.

It pretty hard to turn down the idea that the Divine McStabbin's might have what basically amounts to an order of nun assassins at her disposal though. Who could say no to nun assassins?

Characters in a story gotta have a flaw, this Inquisitor's flaw was being a little too trusting/hopeful of a better future
. At least I'll know peace was impossible because of them rather than think the war may be my fault because I assumed peace was impossible and stabbed them in back by leaving their dreadnought to explode when they offered an alliance.

Fair enough. Heh. I do similar things, but not that one yet. ![]()
