I rarely use the mounts because I can't use the search ping or interact with anything while mounted; I don't want to miss precious resources between points A and B. Anyone else just run on foot most of the time?
Am I the only one that actually runs almost all the time?

Form what I've seen almost everyone (including myself) avoids mounts, both for the reasons you stated, and because you can't get banter while mounted. With banter already firing much too rarely for most people, we don't want to knowingly miss some. It's also not that much faster than walking.

Oh yeah the banter is nice, I just wish there was more of it.

When my dwarf rode her horse through Redcliffe she heard people laughing when she passed them by.
She never got on a horse again.

Banter is the only reason I rarely use mounts.

The only place I use mounts is Hissing Wastes, mostly to get to Sandy Howler. Other than that, I need the resourses and I need the possible Fade Touched materials.

You aren't. I never use mounts beyond the initial racing quest.

I avoid mounts on my first and second playthroughs since I'm still exploring and I don't want to miss anything.
On later playthroughs I use them to expedite journeys since I've already seen everything.
The only zone where I used mounts on all my playthroughs was the Hissing Wastes. To be honest it felt REALLY good riding a mount there, because of the vast expanse of nothingness and the beautiful feeling of riding on horseback over the desert in the moonlight.

I only mount up in the Hissing Wastes because the zone is way too big with not enough happening in between.

I only use my mount to take a pretty screenshot, then I dismount and go jogging and boulder jumping and inching my way over fallen trees and spars. I love to explore and look for odd nooks and listen to my companions. It might make more sense to have a packhorse than a mount, just to carry all the rocks I pick up. It's a bit of a shame, as I love to ride irl, and the sounds and animations are decent. Have I simply not figured out how to gallop, or do the mounts only trot?

Basically the same here ![]()

The only time I'd ever use a mount for an extended period of time is if I decide to take my reasonably leveled Inquisitor out hunting solo, though the game seldom rewards that sort of thing. Other than that, I refuse to use the mount because I'm never sure what random thing I'll skip over if I ride by on a horse.

I run all the time. My mounts stay safe in Skyhold. ![]()

Even if companions could banter on Mount...I rather walk . I'm not big on mount in general , only use them if necessary...and I like walking ![]()

I run a good portion of the time. That said, I use mounts a great deal. Banter hardly ever fires in the Western Approach, so there's no point in running there, and reloading a save tends to reset the timer so you're safe to use it then.

I like to use mounts occasionally, mostly just to look at them, but most of the time I run for banter and pinging for resources/items

My femquisitor likes to run all the time. She doesn't have time for mounts. The exercise builds up her endurance and leg muscles

There's a keybind in the keybind menu for "sprint". If you mean faster than when you are using that sprint button, then no.

Yeah I don't know what everyone is talking about about the mounts being barely faster than foot travel. If you don't use the sprint sure, but if you sprint it's loads faster than running on foot. Still, I don't want to pass up resources so I rarely ever actually use the mounts.

The only extensive time I spent on a mount was to try and skirt the hinterlands map to try for the two glitched mosaic pieces.

There is actually more than 5 hours of condensed banter. You can find it on youtube. The trouble is, it fires way too rarely ingame.

Use the sprint button from multiplayer, which is the search button in singleplayer. It's the left thumbstick on consoles.
