How do I make sure the game has used the correct world state? I went on the keep and selected the correct character for the world state but then when I started a game I was talking to some NPCs at Haven and realized it was the wrong world state for a difference character. What did I do wrong?

I just tried again and started another new game and it says no custom data and is using a default world state. I found the import to DAI button and hit that so now is the one I set acting as the default?

Check that the time stamp of the import matches the one you got when you exported the WS in the Keep.
You can also ask the various NPC's (such as Leliana and Varric) about the world affairs, but you have to play through the prologue for that.

I figured out the problem, I think. The first time around I didn't save the worldstate so it didn't import properly and this time I did save the worldstate but I had to restart the game for it to see it. In the middle of the prologue right now, just got to run around. Will confirm as soon as I get to Haven.

It sounds like everything is working as designed. A worldstate can be pulled from the Keep only if it has been saved and designated for use, and even then, only when you first start a game.

I've started several new games in the last few hours as I made different characters and what I figured out through trial and error was in order for the game to pull in the world state properly, after starting the game and getting to the main menu I'd have to launch the keep then start a new character and the worldstate would import properly. If after starting a new game I decided to go back and start another, I'd have to close the game down entirely, relaunch the game, then relaunch the keep from the in game menu, THEN start another character otherwise my custom worldstate would not import.

@jones81381; Never had that experience myself. I haven't ever needed to have the Keep open in order to start a new game and have it correctly import the worldstate I've tagged as the one to use. ![]()

You can check on the keep as soon as you hit the "use custom worldstate button" just look at your current playthough and the icons underneath to see if they matched what you wanted.

Thing is unless I have opened the keep recently the game says it can't find a custom worldstate and reverts to default.

Well, just open the keep before starting a new game. Export the worldstate and then you can double check that it's the correct one while in the character creator.

Yeah I already figured all that out. I even said so in the thread here. If you go through and read my first few comments in here you'll see I came to that conclusion within a few hours of asking the original question.

Could the Keep be having trouble communicating with the server?
If you use the Keep in a different browser does that solve the problem?

well there you go. Problem solved. You need the keep open for your export to work properly and while your on it you can quickly know if it worked or not
