If there is a new Star Wars game, Bioware Austin would be the ones working on it. They already have experience with the setting through SWTOR and it might explain Shadow Realms' (Also their project) abrupt cancellation. The other studios are all occupied, with Edmonton working on DA and the new IP while Montreal works on the new ME.
Oh my gods, I did not consider this at ALL. After a brief research online, I found that Shadow Realms was cancelled early February 2015. EA bought their 10-year Star Wars license in May 2013. Possible correlation? Beats me, honestly. It would be much clearer if the dates were closer together, so its anyones guess I suppose.
But that would be really really cool.
I actually have a nagging suspicion we will see an announcement of a BioWare Star Wars game soon. 10 years is not a very long time in game development (with your average AAA game cycle lasting about 2 years) and with quite possibly the biggest name in popular culture, you can bet your bottom dollar EA would want to milk this, uhm, gold-milking cow (it has been a long day. dont ask.) for every drop of gold...milk (a REALLY long day) that it...can milk (yeah, this metaphor is about as dead as something that is...like, really dead.) ANYWAYS with all this exposure, the still strong popular demand for a sequel, prequel, remake, reboot, ANYTHING of KOTOR and the fact that SWTOR came out a fair while ago, it is difficult to imagine a better time to announce a Star Wars game. Gameinformer ran a piece on NEEDS MOAR KOTOR recently (paraphrase mine, obviously) and considering the kind of journalism they do, I do not think it is entirely outside of realm of possibility for some Star Wars to be brewing in the vaguely Austinwardly direction. I think this E3 is too early for the respective announcement to be made, but I would not be surprised if they acknowledged that a new Star Wars game is in the works.
