Why is that so strange? Software programs controlling robots don't have a sex, so their gender identity is whatever one they are designated and programmed with by their rightful masters, if they choose to give them one at all.

Geth platforms are based on quarians, and arguably have more similarities to females than males, 3 toes instead of 2 being an example. She is no less acceptable a pronoun than he, though "it" is obviously the correct term if you aren't some synthetic emancipation hippie who believes their toaster is a people.
