I know you live for civil wars among fans but it's becoming ridiculous. Weekes has a plan either accept it or start clique And blow up his twitter with complaints of "agenda" . Either way it's happening whether x people like or not

you didn't see the Geth/Quarians or the ME3 ending debacle IT/Synthesis/Destroy/Control/ and so on

this is a cakewalk to the ME forums, I've not gotten a single death threat here

You know, I've never quite understood why people discriminate against transgender people, or have this irrational hate, based purely on an individual's desire to be the gender that they feel they belong to.

Growing up, I always thought I was a boy in a girl's body. I had boyish hobbies and interests and was always much more comfortable wearing boys clothing.

I copped a lot of unnecessary **** from people who felt it was "wrong". I could very well have made the transition when I was old enough, but chose not to. I learned to be comfortable in my body I suppose, I could still be a female and have the interests and dress however the hell I want, but not everybody is like me, and should be entitled to do what they please, to their own body, as long as they aren't harming anybody else.

So if you have some beef with transgenderism, I'm gonna be blunt; deal. With. It. It has nothing to do with you, and isn't harming you in any way, so where do you get off judging people? How bout just mind your own business and get over it.

Hell, I could sit here and whinge about ME, and how as a lesbian I was forced to act like a pathetic schoolgirl over Kaiden and his flirting, and how the straight propaganda was "forced". It totally kills my immersion and my right as a role-player, boohoo.

But no, I won't complain about it, because at the end of the day it isn't a big deal. It's two seconds of dialogue FFS, it doesn't hurt me.

BW games follow a story, although you have a few choices it still has to remain linear to a certain point.

Also, from a 'It's my right from a role-playing perspective' is BS. What's next, you want BW to create a game that let's you stab children, rape people, become a serial killer? All cause it's your "right" to role-play? Why not take it to a full scale, and get the option to develop advanced technology in Thedas so you can bomb every since city?

I was being sarcastic.

I gathered you were resorting to hyperbole, but the idea of "why stop at being anti-trans" is taking an argument then strawmaning it to oblivion.

Outside of the Qunari we don't know the attitudes of most of Thedas towards transgender individuals, given the direction Patrick Weekes will likely take the issue its unlikely we will see any outright condemnations, so it's not really a good idea to go on about how future games should and will portray it.

If you think I was actually offended at the notion that I own a gun I don't know what to say.

I've been given death threats, called all sorts of lovely nicknames (personal favorites being Steelc*nt and Genocide Fetishist), insulted by the worst this forum has to offer, and so on.

A small rib based on my living in Dixie is the lease of my issues on this forum.

This whole thread is a 'strawman' so why the hell not?

Tsk....you gonna pick something else or just dance around it ? Pick something else !

You said its for role playing . Then I'm saying : pick something else !

If it is true its all for roleplaying and you aren't what I think you are...you should have no difficultie picking something else to whine about since the 'lack of choices' you have been harping about ...should apply to anything else in the game thats not transgender . PICK SOMETHING ELSE .

...

Well that was certainly a roundabout way of asking me to provide a different example of limited dialogue choices. What, were you trying to imitate Sera?

Another example of limited dialogue choice is the discussion with Solas about spirits. It's basically all funneled into agreeing with him or conceding to him. And the logical response is never there. The options are only, "I agree with you that spirits are people too" or "spirits are not people, but oh wait, good point, I guess you're right Solas".

Personally, my response would have been that spirits are not people, but people have their own spirit. So the question of if spirits are people is needless. We're all sentient thinking beings.

But this is a case of BioWare trying to make different dialogue options and failing to do so. This current discussion is about BioWare intentionally limiting dialogue choices in the future.

It's really very simple. I have no problems or issues with transgender people so long as people respect the fact that I value and enjoy femininity in women. Normal women, that is. And find utterly no value in it in transgendered people. And basically vice versa, although it's a bit more complicated with FtM people.

So long as people don't either demand I find transgender people feminine and act accordingly or demand I stop finding normal women feminine and act accordingly, we have no problems.

The problem is that people continually insist on making those demands, with various degrees of smoke and mirrors.

There is grounds to criticize the variety of options that the Inquisitor can use, however dipping into bigotry that does not reflect in universe attitudes isn't something that really needs to see the light of day

This isn't about judging others. It's about having a variety of dialogue options in a role-playing game.

No, we are not asking for absurd storylines to be created anew. We are merely asking for fairness in storylines that BioWare has already decided to devote time and resources into creating.

No.

Nobody is forcing you to be attracted to somebody you aren't attracted to.

Some may try... but that doesn't mean every single transgender has to suffer for what a few *INDIVIDUALS* say or expect of you.

It's about individual actions, not the "group" as a whole.

Except that it isn't "bigotry", or the accurate term, hatred. Also that it DOES reflect in-universe attitudes, as even Inquisition confirms.

So you're mistaken, but at least your post was on-topic, which is more than can be said for those of your colleagues.

Well, obviously nobody's forcing me. Nobody's going to make me love transgendered people. I'd just appreciate not being accused of being a bigot, and 'spreading hate' and so forth when I'm honest in not valuing a transgendered person and normal woman equally.

I'm happy to hear you understand this is an issue of individual actions, though.

I'm not here to quibble diction.  What in-universe attitudes are those?  As I recall the issue was not that Krem was transgender but that he bribed the healer in charge and enlisted in roles he was not supposed to be in, in addition to his later desertion.

Also, who said anything about colleagues?
