Out of curiosity, I'm wondering if posters on this forum are also currently playing the games, or have they moved on but post because of how much they enjoyed the series (...or to complain about the ending lol)? Some current posters I recognize from years ago. What are all your playing habits?

I myself haven't played the series since completing what I consider my canon in February 2014. My last playthrough just felt right to me and I had no real desire to make another. I never got bored of the series; just content with what I had done.

I am on my seventh play-through... I think. I play Mass Effect about three times a week for an hour or so each time. For example, I will play it, but a few days will pass before I actually play it again.

Last week I played for about an hour Monday morning, then I played it again Thursday morning for a short while, then again Saturday night.

I am a hugh space fiction geek so naturally I keep coming back to Mass Effect, but I have other game series I play like Star Wars -- mainly -- and Halo.

Up until early last year, I was playing Mass Effect on a regular basis, and have a lot of repeat plays, especially of ME3. Since moving to Dragon Age, my time with it has tapered off significantly. I'm on my last playthrough of ME3, and then I'm going to take a long break from it. When I finally get a new system and get to enjoy some of the newer stuff that's out, I'll likely see less and less of it. When the new Mass Effect is out, I suspect the trilogy will be shelved for a long time.

I'm a little burned out, but I bought the trilogy for PS3 again because it was cheap. Had some false starts with it, but plan on finishing soon. If only for trophy hunting.

I never actually played the series until it came out for PS3; instead resigning myself for years to just watch it online. I learned in August 2013 that ME1 had finally come to PS3 the December before and bought the trilogy.

At one point years before I decided to get a cheap Xbox 360 so I could play the series, and on the very night I bought it I was looking for a memory port and tilted the console up. The system made a grinding sound, and I discovered it had made a circular scratch in the ME1 disc that made it unplayable. I returned the console the next day and never got another.

I just finished a second trilogy run in as many months. I must have around 10 full trilogy runs, and dozens of ME2-ME3 and ME3 plays. (The last two via gibbed saves, I've never played a non-import Shepard in 2 or 3.) Now I'm playing Pillars of Eternity and more of Elite: Dangerous but will likely get another run going, likely starting in ME2 in the next few weeks.

I should get around to finishing Jaws of Hakkon, bought it on that 25% off sale a few weeks ago.

Never. I tried to do a full-trilogy run a few months back, but I kept plowing forward rather than relax and enjoy myself, and then I realized that my heart was not in it.

Not long after giving it up, I donated my console. In fact, I traded the few games I had remaining yesterday -- include my ME discs.

That said, I am not tired of Mass Effect in general. I penned my own post-ME3 piece not that long ago, and am thinking of doing more. Also very interested in ME4.

Damn that's drastic. What console was it?

I hadn't turned on my PS3 for years, and then checked the store... there's a ton of stuff on there I can have fun with. I thought the 360 had a good back catalog.

Quite often, whenever the fancy strikes me again. In fact, I've started replaying it recently. :)

I'm still new to ME, even though I had ME2 for a few years, but never played it because I was waiting for a way to play ME1 (PS3 player :D). Then finally last year in April I started with ME1, and I really liked it, but I also played a shitload of DA last year (I guess I only play ME because I really liked DA for years now, as I never was a sci-fi fan), so I played ME1, started ME2, but with the DA series spread in-between, and I then put off ME2 completely when DAI came out. Then I finally finished ME2 and went directly to ME3, and been hooked since then. I liked ME1 and 2, but 3 finally did it. I replayed the Trilogy a second time, now I'm on the third run, and have already planned a fourth, as I'm currently trying out all classes, started to play on Insanity and try out all different powers. But after that I guess I will take a break a bit.

I currently play pretty much every evening, if I have the time (but I do that in general anyway, ha).

I completely fell in love with the series, the characters, the soundtracks, the universe, and it even surpassed DA for me.

I'm on my canon play-though right now. It took me a few play-throughs to figure out what it would be. Once that's done, those 3 saves (ME1, ME2, ME3 will be archived - on the wild chance ME4 allows imports). And then no more ME for a long while.

I got the Witcher 3 to play, more Skyrim mods to try, and now Fallout 4 coming.

But you know, playing ME is like hanging with old friends. They're comfortable. So after a while I'll want to see Shepard, Samara, Garrus, (and the rest) again. I'll break out those saves, build a new game and hangout.

2008 - Never. I probably didn't even have ME1 then.

2009 - I played ME1 but I don't know how much. Maybe more than one playthrough.

2010 - Hyped up for ME2, got it and played the hell out of it. Forget when I got the DLC.

2011 - Played a lot of ME2. Really got in to the whole save transfer thing  so I think I played both games. This was all on Xbox though so I don't use those saves anymore.

2012 - Hyped up for ME3, got it and played the hell out of it. Got all DLC ASAP. Played some MP. Then moved into getting a PC version but I don't think I dived into it just yet.

2013 - Finished the DLC and got into my PC version of ME3 and played a lot of that. Also got more into MP then before, but always casually (I still don't play past Gold, if that).

2014 - While ME for my personal playtime has slowed to a crawl, I started to have a friend over so she could play her own Shepard. This is a project that's now over a year, and we've only gotten approx 40% through the trilogy, making it seem like we won't be done until next year (ME4 then? haha). MP time continued, but ended with DAI's release more or less.

2015 - I haven't been playing for myself, but continued to have my friend over for ME. Played DAI instead.

2016 - I hope to have my PC playthrough done and all 'established' in my memory, and potentially, if I get into things enough, have at least a couple more Shepards also done (a different male and a female). Ideally, I'll have 5ish other Shepards but that sounds kinda crazy for me. Want to be ready for the next game.

My Xbox version had a FEW profiles, even though they don't matter anymore. I had a male Paragon, but also a male Renegade alt and a female Paragade alt. My PC canon playthrough will be a near replica of my Xbox male Paragon (Vanguard, more Paragade in ME3).

I guess you could say I've played the Mass Effect 'a few times', and played singular games of the trilogy 'several times'. So not obsessively, but certainly avidly.

I may dive into the games for up to hundreds more hours (if I make more than one profile) or at least tens more hours (if just my canon) once Bioware actually, really announces the next game. The countdown will basically be on.

TLDR; Almost never. But ready to get right into it again in prep for NME, and I have a friend visit once every couple-to-few weeks to play it. Don't know whether I'll be able to stomach just my canon playthrough, or up to 5 more after it.

Well, I'm a total noob compared to most people around here; I only finished my first playthrough 2-3 weeks ago... and I'm already on my second one. I'm at that point where playing anything else feels "meh". Except Diablo III; I can manage a bit of D3 playtime.

I'm on vacation at the moment, without access to the game, and boy do I miss it.

I recently finished my second-to-last playthrough. The last one will be my canon Shepard whom I'll play prior to release of ME:Next. Before that I'll have Skyrim, DAO and Fallout 4 to occupy my time. Might also try Witcher series.

Overall- One Shepard, one canon, Spacer/Ruthless Infiltrator. Playthroughs usually differentiated only by romance. Started the series in fall 2011.

ME1- Three playthroughs, original, better, final/complete one Level 60 all sidequests done, maxed out armor/weapons etc. Started a Femshep but she's still stuck on the Citadel. Don't know if I'll ever come back to her. I've been kinda wanting to run through ME1 again though.

ME2- Five (six?) playthroughs, Original (based off original ME1 run) with no DLC, better run with All DLC, complete run based off ME1 complete run with all DLC, Liara run, Tali run/faithful to Ash run (only locked in for one save).

ME3- Three playthroughs, Original (based off complete ME2 run), Complete Run with all DLC, Liara Run. Started an Ashley run but seem to have lost interest. In theory I should finish it and the Tali run to get all I want out of the series. Replays of canon run (Complete, Miranda romance) may occur as needed. Played a **** ton of MP, still have a mild interest in it.

No plans to buy a new ME game. That may change if a) it's not direct sequel/no further choices are invalidated and B) no one who signed off on the ending goes anywhere near it. If these conditions are met I'll consider getting it, after some thorough reviews prove it's not ****.

According to my notes (I had to delete most characters because it made ME2's menu take waayyy too long to load) it wasn't until my 10th and final character that I decided on my canon. http://forum.bioware...shepards-story/

I had played each class at least once and made my final character the class/background I felt was most appropriate for a believable character. And by believable that meant they were flawed, not white knights (paragons), which also meant people died. Most of my playthroughs were paragons where everyone possible survived, just dabbling in the classes, and they were the most forgettable.

The first and last stood out most. lol Like in the first playthrough losing people on the suicide mission by not realizing the ship had to be upgraded, or choosing the control ending by accident when I went the wrong way.

I´ve lost count of the times I played it. I had ME1 and 2 played for hundreds of hours (loaned) and played also on console before purchasing the trilogy (and later expanding me2 to collector edition) on pc (Origin), and on my current account I have ME1 registering 600 hours, ME2 at 750 hours and me3 at 3572 hours. Well, in the case of ME3 this number is inflated by a large margin because since the game used to take a long time to boot I used to leave it open while I did other stuff on the pc. But I did play a lot of online and offline games on it.

I just finished my intended trilogy run with a sentinel just a few hours ago. Pretty soon I will start another run but using a different class. I intend to do trilogy runs with each class in order, then another run trying to use the best squad-mates story-wise for each mission. And then, maybe, I will finally do the so-called personal canon run. But I´ve been delaying it for years. The true fun for me in this game is that no shepard is canon. The real beauty of the mass effect series is that all possible ways are acceptable ways and no choice is the official choice. Maybe I should leave it at that and never try a canon version. After all, I´m spoiled by now since I know very well all the possible ramifications the decisions can lead to. My perfect chance for a canon shepard, now wasted, would be my blind, initial play.

I always had difficulties in seeing myself in a rpg. The "what would I do if I were in his place" scenario. I could do it easily in real life rpgs with a game-master and other people around it (I used to do it a lot when I was young) but in a videogame-rpg, with only a handful of predetermined choices, many of them somewhat vague, it´s hard. More than usually the decision I would pick up is not covered and even the best approximation is less than ideal. The perfect example would be the fate of the rachni. While I´m not ready to kill the queen (she did sound sincere and capable of reasoning) and doom her entire race into extinction, I also don´t think it´s safe to let her off the hook entirely and go free, with no restrictions and not even letting her home address or a phone number. Considering everything that happened, it would be really lousy. Both choices suck, but if I´m confronted to pick one, I guess the higher notion that her life should be secured because I think she´s being honest would take precedence.

Same thing goes for the collector base. I don´t trust the illusive man, but I have to admit that he was right all along. About the collectors, the reapers, the alliance, the council... He did have a good grasp at the situation, even if his methods were barbaric. I would be afraid of using the base most of all for fear of indoctrination. Cerberus projects have a way of going out of control and turning against them. It´s possible that I would destroy the base, since reaper tech is so dangerous that even a dormant reaper corpse after thousands of years of inactivity was able to indoctrinate a cerberus team. But then, it would be for an entirely different reason than the one given for the paragon choice. Not for disgust over the cruel things that happened there, but merely as a prudential measure against indoctrination. I do think, however, that using mechanical instruments operated by long distance (not AIs or VIs, but merely mechanical tools) could be a safe way to investigate the facility. But the game never offers these options nor let me offer them. This is why it´s so hard for me to do a canon run. Should the base be captured, could we limit our use to simply machines with no processing powers operated remotely? Could we share this info with the alliance and the other races? None of this is explained. I know that the base provides us with an immense opportunity, but it´s also a big risk. Without any of this sorted out, any decision seems harsh, abrupt, or perhaps even guided by the wrong motivation.

I do not really like gaming very much, to tell you the truth. Not many games appeal to my tastes. I played the hell out of the ME series. With that no longer being novel to me, there was no real use for my 360 any longer.

I game on CPU now, but then I also have pretty scarce free time these days, so it is a tough sell for me to commit that time and patience to some new game on the off-chance I will get into it next to all the other things I want/need to do.

I have a few character who are here and there on ME2. Occasionally, I'll pop in the game and do a mission or two.

The one off side mission structure of ME2 that use to bother me doesn't anymore.

I havn't played the Campaign for quite a while, but I did play a Little bit of multiplayer yesterday... I'm quite rusty it would seem. Not horribly so, but it didn't feel like I was playing like my old self. I had even forgotten the Controls :D

I bought the trilogy just last November, and have been playing it ever since.

I played through ME1 like 5-6 times and finished all the cheevos before starting ME2. It's still my favorite of the lot. I've purchased all of the DLC, though not all in one go.

I've taken 4 characters of different classes all the way through (some multiple plays in there). I still have an Adept sitting in ME1, and have yet to play a Sentinel.

I'm currently doing an ME3 Insanity run. Finishing it will cap all the cheevos for all 3 games.

Then I'll probably get back to a Fallout 3 play I abandoned awhile ago, FO:NV, Dragon's Dogma, and catch up with some other game backlog.

I used to be obsessed with Mass Effect, playing it almost exclusively when I got ME1 and 2 on sale in 2011, and ME2 is still one of my favorite games of all time.  I think about once a year now I will play something that reminds me of ME and then go and do another trilogy run or two over a couple months.  This year, it was playing DA:I that reminded me of ME, so I went back, realized that some of my old saves were deleted, and used that as an excuse to play again.

I think this pattern is likely to continue for awhile.  The series has aged far better than you would expect of one that started in 2007 and despite well over a dozen playthroughs, I still haven't seen close  to everything the trilogy has to offer.

Hours a day for months. It's becoming very repetitive, so I'm going to take a break and play some different games for a long time before I pick it up again after this last playthrough.
