So apparently a disgruntled former Bethsoft employee leaked info on Fallout 4 last year and it turns out most of her info were spot on. The most glaring claim is that you can only play as a male character and is story focused. There's a chance the game could be split into two parts, a linear story mode and an open explore mode after you complete story mode. There might be chance to be plays as a female character after you complete story mode. Sex change machine maybe? Not sure. There is also a chance there is no character creation.

All speculations... But some of the info this lady leaked have been spot on. But it does make a person wonder.

Even if we assume that the leak was true and this person did work for Bethesda, it's year old information at this point. Everything is highly subject to change prior to a game's launch.

There's also a few things that sound pretty suspicious in that leak, such as the last gen versions running on an entirely different engine from the current gen ones or the DLC release schedule(unless they're very small DLCs or being worked on prior to launch).

LOL@Bethesda doing a set protagonist with save imports, while also developing two versions of this game. All my lulz.

The male protagonist thing might be a place holder. I'm sure they wouldn't get rid of the customization, because it would harm the game by far. Fallout 3 and New Vegas placed emphasis on player choice, so why get rid of it?

No character creation/customization in a Bethesda game? Yeah not buying it.

Eh, doubt it. Why would Beth do such a drastic move as this? It just makes no sense since it would alienate fans and damage the sales. Nah, the only thing that may happen is the possibility that the player character will have a voice (hopefully not).

Just something for the mob on tumblr and other places to scream about, probably no truth to it.

But watching the cries of muh-soggy-knees will be entertaining.

She's sounds very bitter...... Let's take this with a grain of salt. Though I agree with the above poster. The responses will be interesting if true.

Troy Baker as Troy Baker playing Troy Baker

That one screenshot of a male bloke from Kotaku that Crusty posted in the other thread sure looked like Zie Baker.

At best, he's just a placeholder like most peeps said though which is very likely.

Even if it's true, it's not necessarily a dealbreaker. I've played many games in which I was forced to play as a male protagonist (fortunately, they were dudes that I liked and/or found hot, so it worked out). What matters to me is whether or not Bethesda has finally managed to come up with a strong narrative.

I've always enjoyed running around in Bethesda's open worlds, but they have yet to give me a main story that I find really compelling. When the stories and lore in the books in Skyrim are more interesting than the actual main story, I think there's a bit of an issue there; and like many people, I am in the camp that the original FO3 ending was not logically sound.

Hello, Fawkes my super-mutant friend who can totally survive a radiation-filled chamber...please remind me why I couldn't send you into the chamber that was about to be filled with radiation.

Well, that's what I did. He's the hero of the story.

Because dying was suppose to make you a hero.

If this was true for me it'd be a deal breaker.

Thankfully there's little reason to believe the redditor.

Well, to be honest, I'm not sure if Troy Baker is the right guy to voice Troy Baker. I don't know if he fits the part -- I mean he's good but this one seems a bit too much for him. Nolan North seems like a better canditate, as he's always struck me as that of a Troy Baker-esque sort of character, you know?

I love how the story narration calls you out on it. All because Beth couldn't afford to hire Ron Pearlman twice.

@SM & IM: lol! I did enjoy playing FO3, but after experiencing the original ending, I didn't actually feel like another playthrough until they finally released the Broken Steel DLC (thereby rectifying the original FO3 ending so that I no longer had to be, well, heroic stupid).

Fallout 4 not being open world, no character creation, only male?

That's so anti-Fallout/Bethesda I can hardly believe it. Not saying that it isn't a possibility, but for Bethesda to basically throw the game virtues their previous games arguably thrived for sounds quite the oddball to me.

In Fallout 4, mixing things up, we are making the game more "Story Based" and the player character will finally talk, and narrate his storyline. At the beginning of the game, you create your character (You can only be a male in the main story), and afterward, you start the game with a blast. After the blast, you awake to see the building you are standing inside blown apart and your wife, Lydia, dead. Robots and Androids are storming the place, killing and kidnapping the people inside. You, known as "The Officer", must escape and get revenge.

I sure *hope* this is fake, Christ this sounds awful. I mean seriously? The main character *had* to be male, just so that his wife would die and he would want revenge? Bethesda is throwing out their tested formula to chase a plot as abrasively cliche as this? OP *has* to be trolling.

Seems weird for the new game to have a set character as the series has had customised protagonists since Fallout 1. Plus doesn't sound like a Bethesda game to me

It makes some backwards moving sense since there was plenty of flak about FO3's story and the main character's lack of character, but it's supercilious how everyone is reacting like they broke some unbreakable game making law if this rumor is true.
