No Role play in Roleplay game: I have no pressure to choose what I want. Some decisions from previous games used a lot of smoke candles and ends in no consequences. Like the Dark Ritual in DAO or how is left in the fade.
The hardest decision I have to choose in DAI was if I let go Vivienne let she playing Divine or say that she should stay for the moment

Decision making is not role-play, but only a possible factor in them. But as the Inq not only gets to help influence the next Divine, but also a couple of ancient beings, banish another, guide the outcome of a Civil War, influence reform and restoration of the counties involved, help guide the ruler of allied nations, and a few other things some apparently have not seen in the game, I believe DAI is good to go....

Good:

- Companions are mostly solid, some are better than others.

- The visual quality of the world: Trees, water, weather effects and so on.

- The story of Inquisitor Ameridan, especially the ironic part where you discover that he was an elven mage,

and how narrow minded the chantry and the seekers became since his time.

- War table missions as an idea were interesting but incomplete. Maybe a mobile-app as a companion to complement it?

Bad & Ugly:

- 8 ability restriction. Found this extremely annoying.

- Tactical camera felt very awkward on PC, to the point where I avoided it as much as I could despite playing on the highest difficulty.

- Huge world that looked very good, yet felt very empty.

- Fetch quests. Running back and forth carrying things or herding animals was *not* enjoyable.

- Story quality. It had some good moments, but overall the story feels forgettable and average.

- Magic. It feels gutted, castrated, "nerfed", and generally like a team of surgeons worked very hard to remove the fun and variety from it.

They ignored established effective and interesting spells and schools of magic, added artificial restrictions that made no sense like prohibitive costs to single target spells and this weird new mana system, removed many "obvious" and iconic spells like the Fireball or spirit bolt, and forced ground targeting for most spells.

- When it comes to role-playing and decisions that have impact, the game felt rather linear, with only cosmetic changes here and there.

- Gameplay. Combat felt boring for the most part. Enemy mages did not feel like a real threat, but rather like a nuisance.

Like:

  • Dragon battles: I felt they were done very well and have a great sense of achievement, plus I like the party banter afterwards.
  • Environment: the atmosphere and graphical beauty is not in anyway lacking.
  • Race selection: Always wanted to play a Qunari so that's a big plus.
  • Return of older Dragon age characters: I really enjoyed how they implemented Morrigan, Hawke and the like (with he exception of one), they did not feel diminished in their previous roles.
  • Voice acting: Top notch as always.

Dislike:

  • The story: While of course this is personal opinion, I felt very disappointed with Cory being the main villain, including the other issues, I just found the whole thing tedious and boring.
  • Side quests: Once I did them on one character, no way in hell am I repeating them if I ever decide to do another playthrough.
  • Armor and weapon customization: Lack of non human items and the blandness/samey style really irritates me, I'm basically stuck with the same armor I wore at level two with some shiny gauntlets and footwear added.... that includes human armor.
  •  Leliana: Big fan of her in the previous installments, but by god does she feel bland in Inq.
  • Map accessibility: I struggle to gain access to certain areas of maps, trying to climb rocks only to slide down and walk for another 15 mins trying to find the quest point.
  • Combat: Basically the same as DA2...I mean really...why did they drop when an archer switched to dagger when an enemy comes close? Or a mage using the dagger end of their staff?

The rest of the content I'm pretty 'meh' with.

1- Character customization, granted it could've used more hairstyles, but other than that it was incredibly satisfying for an un-modded game. Also the choice of voice actors is something I definitely want to see again.

2- Voice acting. Awesome work as always.

3- Companions. Compelling and well written, even the companion I hated the most (Sera), I found the arc leading up to me kicking her out to be dramatic and quite satisfying.

4- Role playing options, tons of them. So many opportunities spread throughout the game, also the lack of auto-dialogue helped in not breaking the immersion. I would like to enjoy more flavor of text acknowledging my choices in the future though.

5- Wartable missions, helped with the atmosphere, introduced fun short stories, and allowed you to see ramifications of your decisions/judgements.

6- Judgement. I LOVED it. Not much to say, but each case had different shades and it was difficult sometimes deciding which judgement should I make.

7- Romances: Played Josephine's and loved it, and I loved how the romance story went outside just conversation, but scenes in different locations, made it feel organic. Also liked the diversity in the options.

8- Morally grey main quest choices, self explanatory.

9- Dragon fights.

10- Specializations having more depth, both story-wise and gameplay.

Dislikes:

1- Lack of deeper side-quests, or at least sidequests with decisions.

2- Lack of memorable NPCs.

3- The pre-final battle part, it felt a bit rushed, would've enjoyed seeing my companions fight.

4- Combat still feels imperfect, I still maintain that DA2 had the best combat mechanics in the series.

5- Lack of different armor sets. The Inquisitor's signature armor looks awesome yes, but I like more diversity.

Liked:

1. Interesting companions.

2. Both action- and strategy-based combat.

3. Beautiful environments. The "environment narrative".

4. Cinematic cutscenes in main quests. The Abor Wilds storyline is great.

5. The narrative of "Crestwood mayor storyline". It would be better if there were more hints of the mayor's action.

6. The foundation of the Inquisition.

7. Crafting.

8. Dragon fights, almost making my blooding boiled!

Disliked:

1. The abrupt and short ending.

2. The lack of the feeling of intensity or pressure. The wild doesn't look so dangerous with rifts. Corypheus could have kicked us more.

3. The lack of big cities (or even towns). I want to see the real Val Royeaux!

4. Awful combat AI of companions.

5. The representation of choice & consequence. I suggest that do quests in different ways with different companions. It's like some quests in DA2 and it could be developed more deeply.

6. The lack of talking with or communicating with villains. Mostly we just go somewhere to fight them.

7. The combat is too easy when the party is over lv.15. The enemies could have more abilities but cause less damage.

8. No Sandal??? WTF

-Story, I like it, being the Inquisitor was fun

-Gameplay, really good, a mix between DAO and DA2

-Companions are ok, I love Dorian, Sera, Cassandra and Blackwall

-The levels are all different and awesome

-The healing system based on potions, I really like it

-A lot of customization and crafting

-Skyhold

-Lot of content and sidequests

-Dragons fights !!! Love it.

-The ending was interesting, now I want to know more

-I like Corypheus as a bad guy, likes him in DA2 and I was happy to see him again

-Amazing art design and graphics

-War table/missions, great idea

_

-Romances for males are terrible, you can clearly see they were written by a gay person.

-Can't romance Sera as a guy

-Cassandra and Josephine are ugly (stop this feminist crap)

-Too many Fed Ex sidequests, I want more cutscenes, more "real sidequests"

-Less mature game than DAO, less sexy stuff (romances, lack of desire demons etc), less gore (head decapitation finish move etc) fighting isn't as visceral as in DAO, did you lose your balls since 2012 Bioware or what ?

-Multiplayer, not as good as in ME3

-No real city

Overall: a really good game, 9/10 for me but not perfect.

Like:

- Characters.  After 3 playthroughs, I still find them engaging, and I keep finding out more from them, or about them.  Massive creative effort which must be recognized.

- Player-character development.  Skill trees, gear and crafting.  Outstanding.  This alone motivates much of the play time in the game.

- World.  Excellent openness, freedom and variety--and so vast.  Even Hissing Wastes has its own appeal, in small doses.  Frostback Basin  improved that even more.

- Interactions.  So much to do and see.  So many NPCs to converse with, and more importantly, the PCs.

- Battles and interface.  I love the choice of real time or strategic micromanagement in tactical cam.

- Bestiary and other enemies.  Nicely done, guys.  Lots of wildlife to deal with.

- Well-behaved in general, with a consistent frame rate, and appealing lighting model--terrific detailed look overall.  Once I'm in an area, everything flows so well.

Dislike:

- Load times.  There is no question in my mind that these could be vastly improved.  They ruin the otherwise excellent flow of the narrative.

- Bugs.  A few of these have gotten increasingly irritating, and some I only recently noticed.  My top two irritants atm:

 - (1) Frozen AI during battle.  This seems to affect warriors mostly, but not exclusively.  Once they freeze in place, they stay there until I switch to them and press an action button--usually Jump, since it always works.

 - (2) Fast travel within a map kills controller rumble.  This happens every time on every map, so it's not like it's hard to reproduce.  I try not to fast travel because of it, but that can get tedious.

I'll just list three of each that come to mind.

Things I like:

-Lore, lots of lore, I love it

-War Table (Not the wait times, and certain missions should have been more, but I liked that it made me feel like I was actually in charge)

-Companions (A few fell flat for me, particularly IB, but I enjoyed most of them)

Things I didn't like

-Main Story (Some of the individual quests were great, but overall I didn't like the messianic ego stroking treatment of the protagonist and the antagonist's sense of threat rapidly dwindled to nothing.)

-Sidequests (not all of them were bad, but there weren't enough substantial ones)

-Collectables (I just don't like collections, mostly because I feel compelled to gather them all when I do my inevitable completionist run)

Voice acting... Bioware managed to get great talent and knows how to use it.

Companions and Advisers and Scout Harding

Spoiler

The main story. It could have used a bit more depth as some felt a bit rushed but over all enjoyable.

Crafting: I never used it in the other games, but now it was useful, really useful

Lore, nice to get some more reveal of the world itself

War table and perks were nice

crafting resources not taking up backpack space

Fast travel with camps

Banter and writing in general

Dislike

Buggy banter fire. Same banter five times in a row is annoying in the extreme.

Exalted Plains... More like the Exhausting Plains, ugh!

Going back to the old resource node system. Preferred DA 2 system

Coinage

Not being able to buy backpacks from merchants/ wasting perks to get them

One healing ability and it's a focus skill for a mage specialization

Rogue specializations... ugh

Arbitrary potion limit

Some disconnect between war table and outside game.

Sorry was typing fast and not thinking so used the word wrong. The new monetary system. It's a little thing, but dealing in the various denominations of coin made it feel a bit more real, I suppose.

I'll add that I would have rather Bioware go back to the first spec at level seven and a second at fourteen.

Also I wish they'd brought back more of the specs from previous games. I was unthrilled about the rogue spec, especially. I tended to go duelist and shadow in da 2 , and duelist assasin and shadow in dao/a.

Game world visuals (zone design)
Companions - I didn't like many of them, but even the ones I disliked were at least interesting
Voice acting
Soundtrack
Crafting (although it still has room for improvement)

Dislikes:
Story - disjointed and poorly paced. villain feels like a placeholder; The Architect was much creepier
Quests design - mostly repetitive and uninspired (had a few good sequences like Crestwood)
Combat - just awful; so bad I barely finished the game and won't play it again
Character animations (very dated); time to invest in some mocap
Lack of proper cutscenes
Lack of character customisation (stats, builds, etc.)
8 action bar slot limit
Awkward PC UI
Terrible companion AI
Poor Tactical camera implementation
Poor tactics system implementation

Dislike

the complete lack of any non combat skills, persuasion is gone,, stealing gone, trap making gone(don't count artificer spec), potion making gone and poison making gone(sabotage spec is not enough). For combat healing magic gone almost entirely, no weapon switching, no tactics customization, skills trees are even more simplified than DA2, only 8 hotkeys, no in game tooltips for skills and NO attribute points at all. Quests mostly boil down to collect-a-thons, fetch quests and kill orders with little to no dialogue or real reason at all to be doing them, the above mentioned persausion options and most choices are removed from nearly every quest but the main and companion quests, and even those boil down to either a good or bad choice. Conversations outside of the main ones are in a zoomed out 3rd person view so you dont even see their faces well and they just stand there still with just their lips moving most of the time. Sure it looks pretty and its got big areas to explore but they are empty and dull if you take out all the fetch quests, towns are filled with carboard cutouts and only very few people will talk to you at all and only a few lines when they want you to collect something for them. Enough rambling, the game is all flash and no substance, DA2 is more enjoyable for a proper RPG experience.

Environments: I used to joke about how you never bought a Bioware game for the graphics (It's all about the characters & story!). This game - you would buy the for the graphics. :D The level design, color, lighting and varied environments... gorgeous. Now all we need is a true day/night cycle!

Crafting: Overall, a very good crafting system, made even stronger with the recent tinting station addition. Masterworks were a nice touch (and Dagna's just awesome... and adorably disturbing). While I know there were limitations on the number of armor sets due to having to support older consoles, there are some really choice sets. I loved the layered look they went with the armor sets. The weapons are nice as well, though I wish there swords that could match the dps of the best axes and maces.

Music: From the environmental soundtracks, to the rousing cinematic moments, to Maryden's melodies... great work.

Populating the world: The random wildlife (nugs everywhere!) really helps fill the open spaces. And while there are a number of foes with strategies you've come to expect - archers, tanks, mages, there were a number of opponents with some more interesting abilities - red lyrium horrors/behemoths/happy-stabbies. Dragon fights are always fun and they've obviously put a lot of effort into their animation and design (and I love their redesign for DAI). And while NPCs are more static than I'd like, a lot of the banter is pretty good.

Haven/Skyhold: I like how we could spend enough time in Haven to form enough of an attachment to it to miss it when it's gone. And Skyhold on the whole was very well designed. Everyone had their space and little things like Solas' paintings, the rookery, the war table and decor options helped make it more than just some grey-walled space.

Lore: So... much... lore...

Mixed:
Companions: The voice acting, as we've come to expect from Bioware, is top notch. Their appearances are all distinct and there's some great banter to be found (if it triggers properly for you... ;) ). But... I have to say, none of the companions in DAI have really grabbed my interest like those in the previous two games. I think it may be, in part, due to the game's pacing and mis-firing banter, but I think there's also just some spark that missing... I can't quite put my finger on it.

The Inquisitor: I love that we've gone back to multiple races for the protagonist and the voice-acting is solid across all 4 VAs. And I think the premiss for the their recruitment, the mark and the idea of building up the Inquisition into an organization of nation-spanning influence was also great. But I think the Inquisitor's personality is... a little bland. I don't recall the Inquisitor saying anything memorable in the entire game. Particularly when compared to the often brilliant Sarcastic-Hawke in DA2.

Traveling: I love that they've implemented mounts (and the nuggalope... pure awesome) and even a little thing like jumping (which you really notice when you go back to play earlier games). But since you can't fight while riding, isn't particularly fast anyway and it eliminates any chance of hearing banter (which is rare enough already) it's something I'd rarely use until post-game or finishing up a straggler quest. I'd also like to see sailing and swimming at some point in the future. In my first playthrough, water had killed me more times than combat!

Tac Cam: First off, it's great that they brought it back. And in the right open, sparsely vegetated environments, it works well. Especially after they allowed you to zoom out higher. But they need to find some way of making any vegetation taller than a shrub and any low ceiling transparent so you're not constantly fiddling around trying to find just the right angle and position for a useful camera view.

Combat: For the most part, I do enjoy the combat. Personally I find mages to be the most interesting and, after several playthroughs now, I confess the Knight Enchanter is my favorite spec. Warriors are more interesting than they've been in previous games (bull rush, timed shield wall-blocks, chain, guard, mastercraft options), but oddly enough my usual go-to class - the Rogue - I'm just not enjoying as much as in previous games, especially DAO. And the bow sound effect puts me off somehow... But I think the companion AI hurts combat most (see below).

The Big Bad: I really wish he been just the head lieutenant or ally of the main antagonist, as once you've already beaten a foe, it diminishes a lot of it's menace. That said, the assault on Haven was impressive, arguably the most impressive scene in the game. It did a lot to re-establish the level of threat you were dealing with. But we really did need to see more of him. At least one more big scene.

Dislikes:
Yup... the 8 Ability Slot limitation: And as we're getting more high level DLC, you feel that limitation more and more.

Companion AI: While I like that their pathfinding is surprisingly good (and they'll teleport to you when it is not), in combat - particularly the squishy companions aren't particularly bright. I think Cassandra was actually talking about the companion AI when she said they'll happily stand in fires and complain that it is hot. No need to belabor this point, we all know it's shortcomings.

Game stability (or lack thereof): Running on a pretty high spec'd PC, the first couple of months the game ran awfully. In the beginning it would crash every hour or so or if you spent more than 30 seconds in the main menu. I've never had a game anywhere near as unstable as this at launch.

Not one town/city: I would have happily given up one or two of the open regions for a decent sized town or even part of a city.
