Nothing. I  say leave the middle east alone and let them sort out their own ****, their misery is their own fault. Stop sending American and British kids over there to get their limbs blown off or killed.

I think it all just boils down to keeping the region unstable for the eventual invasion, or western influenced revolution, of Iran (I think the former is more likely) since Iran is the last resource heavy country that's not tied to the central banks. All wars are in the end, banking wars.

No disagreement there, honestly. Although I think invasion is highly unlikely. The West has far too much war fatigue right now.

I wish the entire region would just look to the UAB and realize how much better their lives could be with the proper application of resources.

If the Sunnis and Shiites want to start a religious civil war there's not much we can really do about it other than brain-drain the Middle East by accepting anybody that's peaceful and wants to leave.

I'm only half-Thai and American (don't know much about living there.. let alone it's military), but I've always been impressed that they've remained relatively safe.. with extremists in Indonesia and Malayasia on one hand, and China on the other.

And that's with the dysfunctional governments and coups every couple of years. lol

It's relatively safe, with some border issues every now and then. Most of the fighting is done with jets and big artillery pieces rather than actual "mud 'n guts". But an all out assault from any country in SEA would not be sustainable. Last time I was around, they lack the discipline and sheer logistical power to do anything for a sustained period.

Seriously, they can't even provide all their soldiers with proper camping equipment. Most of the soldiers patrolling the border and hiding in the woods are riddled with malaria and dengue.

Your first mistake is in assuming that such a war would be contained to the middle east.

The "entire region" can agree on very little aside from general hatred for Americans, Jews, Gays, and many other types of "infidels".

This is barely enough to keep them from ripping each other apart on a good day.

Nothing will be done since US is preoccupied with wasting time trying to push Russia around with sanctions.

Gee, how silly of the U.S. to have a stake in Russia militarily expanding its borders.

You know wjat's funny about this kind of comment?

That misery is not entirely their fault. A substantial part of conflicts base back to when imperialistic powers like France and Britain thought it would be fun to simply draw some borders where they saw it fit. Giving the Israeli their own nation by carving it out the territories of longlasting inhabitants of that same region? Right in the middle of the largest concentration of a demographic that dislikes if not outright hates those Israeli with a fanatic passion?

Brilliant idea, let's get it on, what could possibly go wrong.

Yeah, which followed after US-supported rebellion in Ukraine. Also, how many military bases does US have outside of their borders? And how many does Russia have?

Regardless, economic sanctions will never work on Russia. First, because it will simply switch to the East. Second, because the more you push Russians the more united they become. It's their national psychology.

It's a completely backwards, barbaric part of the world, still stuck in the middle ages, where atrocities occur everyday. As much as I sympathise with the normal, innocent people who just want to get on with life there, whose governments have failed them, I think the west should just step out completely. It's not up to us to decide how another culture turns out. Besides, once the oil dries up, even the currently super rich Arabian kingdoms are screwed. The Iran-Saudi proxy war going in Yemen right now goes to show no matter how much money these states get, they're all still stuck 800 years in the past.

Anyway, political threads like these have no place on the forums. Don't know what happened to moderators here.

Yemen is defending itself against Saudi Arabia and Iran is helping Yemen. The barbarians are the Saudis.

I'm not saying Russia is the bad guy or that the US is the good guy... I'm not nearly that naive. But it's silly to think that Russia driving tanks into another country because they didn't like the new leaders wouldn't bring the attention (and condemnation) of the rest of the world.

Saudi Arabia is a terrible place run by terrible people who have enabled much of the terrible things that have occured in the entire region. But they have half of the DC royalty super political families in their back pocket, so they are "a staunch US ally." Gah.

The best solution would be for the US and EU to put on their big kid pants and go kick some ass, but apparently, that's out of the question.

How about we instead send military supplies to the undisciplined Iraqi military so they can let it fall into the hands of ISIS? That's worked pretty well so far.

Sure, sending young men to get maimed or killed for no good reason is the answer..

*sigh* ... Jimmy military march with well supplied rear is around 50km per day for a tank division. now... check Southern Military district, amount of troops there. Please understand one simple truth, if Russian Federation would actually invade Ukraine, there would be no such country as Ukraine in a matter of days.

Besides to this moment i saw no hard evidence of presence of Russian troops, Russian Command and Control or any Russian regular units or formations in Ukraine. Despite of Marie Harf or Jeff Rathke claims.

Call for a new Crusade and let the west annex the Middle East and finally claim the land for themselves!
