After seven month I can now play the game.
I changed graphics card.
I bought the game because of the Recommended System Specs. I met those. A GTX 660 and a bit better hardware.
But I crashed constantly at cutscenes and menus. Without exception. After a while the game crashed to desktop. The only way I could play it was by tapping Esc/Skip rapidly on the keyboard. I had no problems in the maps.
I was waiting for Bioware to fix this. After all they made the game, and set the minimum systems specs. I figured they should know, right? And apart from that they told us they had contacted Microsoft to fix it. But nothing happened. Several patches was released. But none fixed the cutscene crashes.
BUT!
Three weeks ago I gave up. I bought a GTX 970. And my game runs smooth as can do. I have no problems at all. I can even take screenshots without noticing any disturbance. And I am surprised of how much game content I have missed before. Lots of story, dialogues and atmosphere. And I actually feel like starting all over again. This time as the game is intended to be played.
But did all the frustrations make loose the enthusiasm? I don't know really. Maybe I will see the story in a different perspective now. Now that I can get the finer detailles.
But I have to state a large criticism towards Bioware in this matter.
I my opinion they lowered the Minimum and Recommended System Specs too far in order to sell more copies of the game. I think this is unfair and gets close to what I will call a confidence trick.
I am surprised to experience this from Bioware as I have a hard time believing they didn't test the game properly and knew there were problems with GTX 600 cards?
Be honest instead. Tell the customers they need a powerfull PC and graphics card to be able to play the game. What's there to loose? 25% or 40% of the sale?
But in the long run you gain trust by being honest.
And now I will return to play the game properly. Have a nice day everyone!
YAY! I can play the game now!

Other than issues with scars disappearing that I just resolved, my game runs fine on my rickety GT730. Yes, GT, not GTX. No, I don't get 60fps on ultra. In fact, I run at default medium for the most part and get around 30fps. That's a perfectly fine gaming experience.

I have a GTS 450 and the game works fine 90% of the time (only have textures, shader and meshes set to high, but everything still looks and runs fine). Had a few random crashes while playing SP (and a bunch in MP), but nothing big since I save all the time and I'm used to far worse from games like Fallout
. So I'm definitely all for games being scalable and older graphics cards friendly, which this game evidently is if we take my fairly old now graphics card into consideration.
