My opinion is always to min max crit damage on rogues especially assassin's and get passives and abilities which generate auto crits from stealth and assassin should always attack from stealth and finish a target off in 1 or 2 blows. And attack from flank against bosses. But I am sure there are others who will suggest dex. In dai unlike da2 dex does not improve your attack ‰ (will does that) so dex is a waste. Plus cunning boost range defense.

actually DEX increases both critical damage % and attack % and cunning increases ranged def and critical chance.

Oops I mainly played crit mages in dai but rogues in da2 and maxed cunning on the crit mages as they did not have passives for auto crits.

Probably from pure efficiency you should target a 52‰ crit chance rating and the rest into crit damage as rogue assassin.

My point was that with the two passives of auto criting from stealth and against sleeping targets you are covered as you can pretty much wipe any enemy with shadow strike + flank attack. And also restealth on kill through easy to miss.

The 52‰ crit chance is for bosses to ensure at least half your attacks are crits when not in stealth.

This build is pretty efficient :

You get good stamina regen through looked like it hurt and I suggest shadow strike to twin fangs because of better tracking. If you bring pyromancer dorian along to panic enemies expect even more auto crits. Go for death blow next even if it's a bit buggy.

Go to the Black Emporium- they have two dagger schematics which are better than any others you will find. Blade of the Red Birth and Coiled Spring. Either one will be great.

Dagger rogues should in general (there are exceptions) get to 50% crit chance and the rest crit damage.  All utility leather slots should go to Dexterity and maximise offensive leather slots in your gear choices.  At 50% crit chance your sneak attack perk makes that 100% crit chance from flanking.  I do this for Assassin rogues as well.

I do deviate from this when using Varric as a support role run by AI.  In that case I put all offensive leather into crit chance and all utility leather in dexterity.  But that is because crits from Varric shorten his cooldown time and provide him stamina.  And the AI runs rogues best if they keep their stamina high.  I prioritize elemental mines on Varric which is just fun.
