Does my starting a nightmare mode affect my other playthroughs? Like, will my previous playthroughs all be in nightmare mode now?

For me (PC), starting a nightmare playthrough didn't affect the setting of my other playthroughs. Although, when I turned on friendly fire, it did so for all of my characters.

surgeraven is correct.  The FF/No-FF toggle applies across all games, independent of the save.  (Just like graphics settings or keybindings.)

Difficulty Level is embedded within the save itself.
