I am curious about the Forbidden Ones. If the Creators/Evanuris were powerful elven mages, were the Forgotten Ones a rival group of mages who sought to gain more power for themselves? Or are they like the Forbidden Ones? Former elves who became spirits to avoid the Evanuris.

Mm, good question, since the Forbidden Ones and the Forgotten Ones are two different groups. The former seem to be elves that abandoned their bodies to flee some disaster and became demons, but they don't seem to be as powerful as the Evanuris. However, the later, from the tales, look capable of facing the Evanuris as equals in power.
It's interesting to see that a tale in Mythal's temple had Andruil already hunting the Forgotten Ones. And they were worshipped in secret in the times of the Dales kingdom. And a mission in The Last Court suggest there are still cultists out there.
I think we should consider them a possible threat looming in the future of Dragon Age, just like many suspected back in DA:O that Fen'Harel could make for a good villain. After all, it's interesting that while many truths have been discovered about the Evanuris and the calamity that took them away from the elves, DA:I has been conspicuously silent about the link between Solas and the Forgotten Ones. This despite Fen'Harel's involvement with them being a huge part of traditional Dalish folklore regarding the Dread Wolf.

What do you mean, " looks like"? You don't know? Were the vallaslin designs made by a different artist back in Origins?

So, I tried asking Matt Rhodes which elven god Tamlen's vallaslin corresponds to. Surprisingly, he replied to me. And his answer was... "It looks more like Falon'din".

Pretty sure the designs weren't entirely fleshed out back then, which is why we didn't get clarification on which design was who's till this game.

I'm more surprised that Matt Rhodes didn't seem to know the answer to my question.

Qun00, From the story flubs I wonder if the right hand knows what the left hand does as far as character designs?
Seems a writer should become as one with his character so he/she can develop the character to its fullest and work with the animator in the designing of the character.

... Yes, I got that you were surprised by that.
I was explaining why its reasonable that he doesn't. The DAO vallaslin designs don't all fall neatly into the new, more finalized, vallaslin system, so their meanings are fudged. He's probably not sure b/c who Tamlen's vallaslin was has either changed or was never nailed down in the first place since it wasn't an important detail that would actually come up in-game and they just went for the cooler looking of the vallaslin designs they had at the time.

True. Not to mention that DA:O was released 7 years ago and despite our interest in the vallaslin, it could have been a very secondary matter for the artists. Difficult for them to remember now.

We know art can trump sometimes. For example, the barefoot elf issue in DA2 (and with Solas in DAI possibly) was done over the objection of DG.

And proud of it.

Humans are by far the best race in both fiction and nonfiction.

Uh not really? Well unless if you mean the bits from that DLC from DAII that make no sense I guess?
._.
Yeah, you have a incomprehensible pile of garbage that is focused around elves, big surprise, even when they are the focus, they still manage to mess everything up.
Stupid elves.

And you know how elves are supposed to have big eyes? That was dropped after DA2.
Sure, the Iron Bull still mentions that "fact" once, but none of the elves actually look like that in DAI.

I think Solas has a line in DAI he says to Dorian about how all of Tevinter can thank elven culture for all of Tevinter's culture, though I pretty much see all humans in Thedas rising to power thanks to the leftovers of elves. Just as the first inquisitor was an elf, it wouldn't surprise me if humans chopped of Andraste's ears to make her human as well.
Humans are also fairly awful in real life.

He wasn't the first Inquisitor. He was the last Inquisitor of the First Inquisition. And he's more of a Chantry type than a traditional elf. It's not like the Chantry is stealing anything from his "culture", just because he was an elf. And Andraste was from ancient Denerim, from a tribe of Alammari.. why would they make that up? They're dirty Barbarians. They were both slaves under Tevinter. One wasn't better than the other. And we've seen her mother in the Sacred Ashes quest. Not everything is a conspiracy.
Anyways.. the Dalish. I like em. I just wonder where people were in DAO. Many people thought Dalish was the worst origin back then. It was my first playthrough.. and one I still redo/revisit sometimes. There was no one to talk to, and yet now I'm tired of hearing about elves. It's overkill. Now to the point that everything has a elf theory tied to it. That's my 2c on their culture now.
The best thing about Elves now is Sera. *makes farting noise*

I don't think Andraste was an elf. Putting aside the fact that the group she's from isn't elven, racially, there's the simple fact that it would have involved such a radical cultural shift to actually change the race of a divine figure (think of, say, gender-swapping Jesus). Plus, they didn't turn other figures, like Shartan, into a human.

They are the dominant species in Thedas and our world...you could say they were born to rule.
