New on PC with Patch 7 (thanks for that, BioWare.)

While in combat, and after defeating the "current" opponent, characters become completely immobile / unresponsive / frozen / stuck (pick your favourite term.)  Once this happens, even after selecting her/him as the controlled character and clicking to assign a target, issue an order, or otherwise get them to DO something, s/he just stands still.  Not even using the w-a-s-d keys makes her/him move.

You *have* to have the character "Jump" first.  Only then will respond to anything you try.

I've had this glitch happen to characters before the latest patch, can't tell if it's become more frequent now. Switching to a different companion and using an ability works too.

Almost 1000 hours of gameplay and never had this happen until P7.

Happens all the time.  If you're OK with switching in and out of tactical, here's an easy fix.  Switch to isometric and jump, then resume combat and your character will move just fine.  I've found that switching controlled characters doesn't work, but just switching views and doing any movement action does.  Jumping in place breaks Still of Winter, but it lets you fight.  It's not you, it's the game, and once you know it's there, you can work around it.

Yeah, Patch 7 broke something. It seems to mostly affect melee characters, but it can happen to any character during combat (especially during longer fights).

You may want to sign up for the Patch 8 beta to see if it's fixed (I don't think the notes have leaked yet). Otherwise, as you mention, you can simply switch to the character and force them to jump to get them unstuck. There's not really anything else you can do about it for now.

I've also had companions freeze up and become unresponsive during combat since Patch 7 (Xbox One btw). Usually it affects melee classes but I've also seen ranged class characters like Solas and Varric affected by the issue.

Most of the time I can catch it before it causes a problem, but I've had a couple TPKs because of it.

I wonder if it has something to do with the addition of auto-attack...

But yeah, it drives me nuts. I'm running a warrior at the moment, and the inability to move really hurts. Jumping in place restores control of the character, but unless he's got full guard, that second or two lockup is going to take a big chunk out of his health for no payoff.

Count me in as well, only it's been Blackwall.  If it makes any difference, I never use the Tac Came outside of dragon fights and Cass is my tank for those anyhow.  On the PC, with an AMD processor and video card.

Glad to know I'm not alone with this.  I've noticed it most with my Inquisitor, since that is what I am controlling most often, but I have noticed problems with Cassandra as well.  It is a pain when, during combat, you jump from character to character to see if they are actually doing anything.

Not only the Inquisitor and Companions freeze for me, but also enemies.

It happened a couple of times, that some Venatori and others just kept standing there, doing nothing while my team killed them.

I had this happen before P7, but the only fix I knew was the Disengage button.

I'll try jumping next time.

Not only the Inquisitor and Companions freeze for me, but also enemies.

I recently saw a pride demon freeze up.

I haven't noticed it with smaller enemies, but I'm playing a mage, so I wouldn't necessarily be close enough to see it if it happened.

I play as a mage too, but I tend to take out the archers/mages first and that was when I noticed this guy. While he's not an archer, he stood far away from me and didn't move at all, even tho Blackwall was right next to him.

He didn't move until I knocked him over with Stonefist.
