A couple of women I knew would not shut up about equal pay.  I emailed the videos to them.  Never heard from them again.

Yes they do. They deserve less too! They spend it all on make-up and i-phones.

I'm gonna watch these vids later.

But I'm just going to bet on this right now.

£10 on statistics being thrown at your face without the actual number of people in the survey ever shown or it being representative.

You're wrong. The evidence is overwhelmingly clear on this point. It's consistent across the OECD but varies within countries by a fair amount. Google is your friend.

Serious answer: yes.

Not serious answer: if they earned more they should pay their ex-husbands the alimony, so the female front is keeping its salary willingly low.

No thread in Off Topic is locked unless reported (as can be seen by the blatantly obvious ISIS thread sti alive after three days).

So now the waiting game starts...

Well okay.

It's hard to google when you're taking a four kilo sh*t.

But fair enough.

I do?

My phone suspiciously looks like an Android. And my face lacks makeup.  I think  I'm doing this being a female thing wrong.

I'm cutting, bro.

When 50g of carbs are your daily intake for every 9 days it's pretty hard to load out the monsters.

Anyway.

Watched the first video and if In Exile is correct, then it's a very fair one with a very valid point. However, I feel it's a little too biased towards feminism and generalises the movement greatly.

One of the greatest flaws of feminism (in my opinion) is how many different strands exist. You can call them what you want, but what we usually see as 'feminists' are radicals.

They're the most vocal, most... enthusiastic? And most hysterical of the bunch.

It's a shame though, since I like to think I'm a feminist myself (as hard as it is to believe with my constant joking about lolis, Lara Croft and general depravity.) I'm of the 'strand' that believes if men were being paid less than women, or if men were being abused or even raped by women, then it is as much of a feminist issue as it were the other way around.

Also, I'd like to add that the latter half of the video is very 50/50. You can either believe in primary and secondary socialisation or not. Still, you can't deny how often men feel uncomfortable when their boys play with dolls instead of action heroes, or how we 'colour code' what is for girls and boys. These little things do effect how with think and view society.

Hell, the other day I read a Facebook post which really p*ssed me off.

It was in regards to a woman clearly abusing a man where a person claimed "I wouldn't call this a woman." That's exactly the issue that some feminists try to point out . According to this 36 year old man, there are set ways in which a woman should and should not behave.

It's disgusting.

The same goes with boys and the pressure to be masculine and macho. Think how many young boys are bullied for being 'girly' or not sporty enough because it's 'normal' for them to be that way.

Feminism takes into both sexes in account, not only women. Sadly, crazy tumblrites or whatever you want to call them like to make it their point in life to personify patriarchy in to a 'Mens Only Club' when it can also be found in the way women advocate patriarchal BS by also thinking the exact same way as that one dude on Facebook.

But like I said, it's a strand of many. If feminism were focused and if feminists weren't fighting each other as much as they are fighting the issues that clearly need solving then they might be seen less as lunatics and more as I hope they should be.

This is as far as I'm willing to go with this. I know a crap-ton of people will disagree (as is natural with any ideology) but I have a Witcher 3 to play and that shyt is more important to me than this.

Its another non-issue which merely distracts from the world falling apart. Feminists won't be satisfied until they get more pay and more benefits for an equal amount of work done. That is one of the modern feminist ideas of "progress".

For me it's a question of:

Do women get paid less for exactly the same work, within the same company, for the same time spent?

I don't know.

What I do know is that in the UK this is flat out illegal.

There a film called Made in  Dagenham which is about women fighting for equal pay in the 1960s.

Look up Equal Pay Act 1970 and The Equality Act 2010.

I am not making this up. Here in the UK this is flat out illegal. You can be sued and even go to prison over this.

If you are getting paid less without any reasonable justification, go straight to an employment tribunal.

This is considered unlawful and abusive here. No reasonable person would stand for this and heck there are cases where people have gone to the Employment Tribunal.

I hope this has been helpful.
