Is it just me, or do the enemies in JOH seem significantly higher level than the numbers given? I'm seeing 24, but every enemy is like a mini boss, and I even have really high quality gear. My whole group does. Even random animals like tuskets are taking ridiculous amounts of damage to kill.
Jaws of Hakkon: Something is very WRONG with the levels.

I just finished the DLC - the enemies seemed more challenging but not overly so. I'm level 24 or 25 and have a lot of gear from the expansion. *shrug*

Potions/Grenades to take are Fully Upgraded Regen Potion, Confusion Grenade, Cold Resistant and maybe Upgraded Healing Mist
Of course this is just what I did to make it through my 1st time. Others may recommended more easy or cheesy way to blow through it but I highly recommend looting everything and collecting all high level materials and hides. Most of the schematics are hit or miss since your Superior Tier 3 stuff is just as good as Tier 4
Good luck buddy, need anymore tips just ask

EVERYTHING feels massively overleveled to me, and I play on CASUAL. Everything hit with massive damage and anything above a general footsoldier was massively defended. EVERY fight came across as being more difficult than the final fight against Corypheus in the main story. I ultimately just gave up, because I could not under any circumstances fight the Hakkonites performing the ritual, at level 25. I don't have time for any kind of tactics or strategy, because I'm too busy trying to revive my party. I really wanted to get through it, but ultimately just decided that throwing myself at a brick wall wasn't worth it. I felt like I was basically inflicting mosquito bites as the enemies were hitting with sledgehammers.

Yes it is much more challenging, maybe because game was so easy and everyone just overleveled all stuff, so Bioware fixed it.

This is why I like to play around with crafting to get a lot of those stat boosts up. I had high critical damage and armor penetration for my assassin archer, fully spec'd focus, and went in with an archer Sera, Dorian and Cassandra, who made good use of their dispel and storm/fire powers. I went in at level 25, and I had to laugh at the fact that tuskets didn't just burst like the snoufleurs did at the first hit. But with the way I set everyone up, Hakkonites caught off guard with full draw often did go down in one blow.

I thought the spawn rates of spiders in particular could be lowered, but all in all I preferred the harder difficulty. The grind to get potions and grenades upgraded was finally worth it.

Giving everything 10,000 hit points and no actual tactical improvements isn't much of a fix. Killing a wolf with 10,000 hitpoints and wolf with 150 hitpoints isn't all that different, just one take a silly amount of time.

The inflated health thing is even more ridiculous when hakkonite spies at over 50k health turn up.
Thats around 50 times the health of Iron Bull - yeah that makes sense. LOL

Oh, the spiders... I avoid the river as best as I can now, after a few disastrous fights....
