Telltale games, are they really as great as they are made out to be?

Something like Shadow of the Colossus destroys RDR to be honest, it seems all right though to be honest.

Oh. You brought up my Number 2 against my Number 1.

Coo.

Just because I disagree with your assertion that Emo Anime Tween games (aka Persona) are brilliant does not mean I am looking to pick a fight, seriously mang if anyone is looking for a fight it is you and Fade with your constant stalking trying to convince me of my wrongdoing in questioning the quality of the Persona games.

I acknowledge that you and Fade like the Persona games however I just can't say they are games that appeal to me, that is the end of the discussion and no amount of stalking and ironically referring to the Persona series as "Emo Teen trash" will change that. Let it go mang, attacking me every chance you get only perpetuates your own bitterness.

I don't know, my dear -- It seems more like it's you who can't seem to let it go. In fact, I don't believe I was even having a discussion anywhere near to that whole debacle. I'm simply calling attention to a recurring thing with you that involves being confrontational and wanting to rile people at the pretense of wanting "to understand why people like some games that you don't". I offered an answer to the question you posed at the time but it didn't seem like you wanted the discussion, as your question initially implied, which beckons another question as to whether you really care about understanding other people's viewpoints or simply want to call them out for not sharing yours. If you really had 'let it slide' as you're saying then you wouldn't even bother calling attention to the first part of my post here and yet you did. It's okay, Skadi -- Just let it go. I'll even do the courtesy of talking about the topic at hand. I'll even give you thumbs up for the "memorable scenes" thread -- That one is quite productive and good.

:)

Haha seriously? It's your second favorite game? That would of been odd... I kind of pulled it out of a hat.

Anyway I'd take it (as well as others) over RDR for sure.

Yeah, funny how that works.

Both are fantastic games. RDR just has a little more to do, y'know.

I think at a certain point people just expect kind of a "what do you like then" sort of thing to happen. When it's all negative people just get all negative back. Granted you said you liked Season 1 TWD I suppose.

I think people just like to focus on the negative, there are plenty of things I enjoy and have publicly spoken about them but people tend to focus less on that and take umbrage when I say something less than flattering about their favorite game series.

Well hence the granted, anyway I don't have a problem really as I said I don't like telltale and it's been relatively mystifying to me why they were so popular, I guess it's just because of how they leveraged TWD property but since I don't care for TWD in the first place it's a hard sell.

Well their only competition in that sort of thing is like quantic dream. When your only competition is fuckwits like them your probably gonna do well.

They haven't quite reached the level of polygons and emotions as that of David Cage just yet.

They need moar plot holes to reach such emotional depth tbh.

It's just too close to a typical western like Butch Cassidy or something, it's not a super clean heroic romp but it mostly is. Shadow is much more ambiguous (even if it is a little bit smaller I guess)

Reminds me more of Unforgiven (Especially Unforgiven) and Tombstone tbh.

But that's just me.

I think SoTC hits harder once you reach the end of the game and realize what you've just done.

And there's more of a connection to your horse.

I had the War Horse DLC in RDR, so I could spawn one up at literally any time.

What I liked about Colossus was its spectacular boss fights -- Colossi bosses that actually feel colossal as you try to climb and hack away at their weakspot. Tense and fun gameplay that developers like Capcom has since adopted for their Dragon's Dogma.

Phalanx was the best fight! Pretty sad too. It just wanted to do it's thing...

Lol sorry Skadi.

I had the most trouble with the 2nd last one honestly some kind of gorilla thing (you had to attack the hand), I literally spent like 4 days with the PS2 running not knowing what to do the whole time.

Also nice how the The Last Guardian is coming out in 2092.

Oh and yeah and Telltale...... yeah................................................ yeah................................. not a fan I guess.

The Sandsnake Dirge was badass.

And obviously Phalanx is amazing for the sheer scale of that fight.

I think Avion was my favorite (the earlier flying one), Sand snake was pretty cool too, and water snake sorta.

Reminds me more of Unforgiven (Especially Unforgiven) and Tombstone tbh.

But that's just me.

Well Unforgiven Clint lives right? I mean it had that "dark ominous tone" but I know how dark it actually was to be honest (unless you count Morgan Freeman dying). Butch Cassidy was brighter and sillier most of the time but the overall trajectory was more similar to RDR. Tombstone I'm not really seeing the comparison because didn't that focus equally on Doc Holliday and Wyatt Earp? They were both like really hardcore lawmen, not necessarily outlaws to begin with.

Anyway all things I enjoyed in their time, but even assuming some degree of equivalence it doesn't really resolve the ambiguity problem which is common in all westerns (good guy kills bad guy), although things like RDR and Unforgiven and Tombstone mix things more and create tension but they always have a habit of snapping back in ways I find annoying.

In contrast Shadow accelerates tension as people were discussing, making the situation more ambiguous as time passes.

Said sorry!

Anyway on the topic, I find it interesting you yourself in the Telltale sucks thread happen to at least like Season 1 and the ending, personally just could not a **** about Clem or Lee regardless of how well executed they supposedly are (I came across the ending in a best ending compilation somewhere, and in an effort to learn more read more about them) just boring concepts to me through and through. A noble man and his noble daughter, where have I seen that.. oh yeah... everywhere.

I would probably like Tales of the Borderlands better (because it's based on Borderlands) but why not just play Borderlands instead?

Well technically it is a man and his kind of adopted daughter but you are right and it is nothing new, however it was the way the relationship was built up between the 2 over the course of the season as you are forced to choose between trying to keep Clementine safe and protecting her from the horrors of this new world or teaching her to survive and preparing her for the worst even if that means exposing her to the horrible reality of this new world. You feel torn because you want to protect her from the horrible things in the outside world yet you also know you can't protect her forever and the only way she will survive is if you adequately prepare her for the dangers she is likely to face, it is not entirely unlike how a real parent would feel when raising their own child.
