Anyone else prefer Mattock and Revenant over Harrier and Typhoon?

I know the n7 counterparts do more outright damage but I'm not really a fan of how they handle.

Like I prefer the Mattock over the harrier, due to having a preference for single shot rifles (I always switch to single shot with rifles, plus the accuracy and way it fires. Even the mattocks in game description lists the non full auto as a plus instead of a con for discouraging waste of ammo. With the Harrier, I don't like how...quiet it is, as well as the TINY clip size, and lack of single shot. If a gun is going to have full auto, it should have a larger clip, for sustained fire. Otherwise there's no real point, IMO.

Which brings me to heavy weapons. On the opposite aide of single shot accurate rifles, I also like guns with HUGE clips for sustained fire. I'm not a big fan of the Typhoon for four reasons when compared to the Revenant. First, the startup time has gotten me killed in higher difficulties when an enemy popped around a corner, which isn't an issue with the revenant. Secondly, that blast shield makes it dang near impossible to aim from cover, and limits normal field of view. Third, I love that roar of the revenant. :). Lastly, I've learned to make good use of the spread the revenant has, such as putting cry rounds to flash freeze entire mobs by just pointing in their direction, getting multiple headshots by aiming at the lower center of the crowd, while the single target accuracy of the typhoon uses an entirely different approach (better at dropping individual enemies faster, less practical for crowd control.). If I'm going for accuracy id rather use a sniper rifle or regular assault rifle.

Of course I'm thinking in terms of Destroyer and TSol, which cover the faults of the Revenant. I'll slap the Typhoon on say, the Qsol. Although the starting windup and sustained fire leaves his squishy butt exposed for too long lol. So that leaves the Typhoon better for Juggernaut though id rather he use the spitfire for theming. Which leaves me with not a whole lot of use for the Typhoon.

Like I said, the Harrier and Typhoon are better straight damage, but I just get more mileage out of the utility of the mattock and revenant. (Of course, there is a difference in that the harrier is a full auto mattock, while the Typhoon is a minigun as opposed to the Revenant being a heavy machine gun, so they are two completely different types, but they are usually compared equally)

They're not legal and must be confiscated.

No, and I doubt you will find anyone playing gold or plat only prefering the Mattock and Revenant over the Harrier and Typhoon.

With the mag upgrade, the Harrier has 36 bullets in the mag, that's more than enough to kill an entire spawn of mooks without reloading.

About the Revenant, I think that's the first time I see someone considering the innacuracy of a gun an advantage. But besides its innacuracy, what makes the Revenant quite a bad weapon in ME3 is the low damage it does.

Of the 4 weapons mentioned the only one I use independent of challenges is the Harrier (and my TGI now rocks the PPR)

so I guess my answer is no

How can you not be a fan of how the typhoon "handles" ?

More damage...

Better accuracy...

Less Recoil...

It is literally a 100% upgrade over the revenant...

It can't kill the entire spawn at once though. Revenant wins!!!

Yeah....something happened to the Revenant when it made it's transistion to ME3, because in ME2 that thang was a beast.... I've tried to like the Revenant in MP and even with stability mods, the guns damage output is just poor compared to the other two more superior guns. The only superior aspect the Revenant may have over the other guns is the sound it makes, which again doesn't match up to it's damage output.

Except the startup time can get you killed, the face shield makes it hard to see from cover, and the revenant effectively acts as aoe in comparison to the typhoons straight line of bullets. Kinda awesome to just stand there holding the trigger in the general direction of the enemy as a Destroyer, causing everything to scatter and explode as enemies try to dodge a walla of bullets and missiles only to get flash frozen/set on fire/exploded lol. With typhoon/revenant its just quickly mow down one enemy after another, its not quite as fun as causing widespread destruction lol.

Being a walking apocalypse is just fun. Plus there's also that satisfying roar of the revenant over the whir of the typhoon.

The Revenant is generally pretty bad, way to low accuracy, to high kick and low damage.

Mattock is an ok gun, and with the TGI it's possible to do quite well even on Platinum - but all that klicking makes it a bit tiresome.

Wait... what?

The wind up only gets you killed if you are a terrible player...

As for preferring "AoE" of the revenant... I personally find that a 250% headshot modifier on a more accurate gun and target switching is much more effective than spraying a revenant. But I actually aim, so my opinion is "biased" I guess.

If you want to kiill an entire spawn in 15 years, then spray away with your revenant...

If you put the Revenant on the Tsol, add a Stability Mod III, and equip Barrage upgrade, it's almost possible to hit the target you're aiming at. If you fire from hard cover, you actually can hit the target most of the time. With Marksman engaged it even does enough damage to kill stuff fairly regularly. It'll never be good, but it does have character - it certainly sounds like it's doing something - and with that setup it can be quite fun for a change from the other guns.

Seriously? After all the time, still the "Wall of bullets" argument regarding the revenant? Not dissapointed =)
