Hey guys

That title probably sounded a lot harsher than intended lol. I meant more of a "What's keeping you interested" idea.

I got the game as soon as it came out (midnight release), and up till now, I still havn't finished my 1st playthrough.

Before release, i'd had 9 characters planned out so I could experience all the specializations and romances

But i've found that the boring story, endless side quests and huge reductions in game mechanics made me lose interest quickly, to the point where I havn't played in the last... 4 months or so.

So, I ask, how are you guys still playing? What's keeping you interested? How many times have you finished the game? I'd really like to bring life to my 9 Inquisitors, and need some inspiration!

I haven't played In a long time but I will say there are quite a few people who are happy with their experiences for a myriad of reasons which I'm happy that they are happy.

I'd replay it for adamant, the fade, temple of mythal.. Erm.. The gorgeous land and what have you. Character creator too is solid except for the hair and qunari options.. Err.. Maybe the relationships? They are pretty okay and have decent story to them usually. Dorian is a charming character especially. I never did get that conversation between Cole and solas that my friend did but they have great synergy together, would actually replay it for that.

I get that a lot of it for me wasn't great but it's a decent game overall. Other people appreciated it more and great for them.

Was it just the experience of trying out different things that made you play through 12 times? Did you cut anything down? (ie: My 1st playthrough is a "do everything" one, whereas 2 - 9 will just be main quest and companions)

I'm currently on my 2nd PT, which I started as soon as I had finished my first and I think I have to force myself to first play DAO and DA2 again, so that I can make a new World State for the next PT of DAI. (yes, I could just make a WS up, but I want my charas & backstories in there, not just something)

So in short: I can't stop playing, cause I have so much fun. :D

I lost a little interest in the game.  I've not even finished Jaws of Hakkon yet with any of my characters.  I've completed three playthroughs.  Have plans for one more.  I'll eventually get around to it.  I keep meaning to get around to the DLC.  I'm sure I'll do it at some point.  I've been playing DAMP a bit in order to unlock Zither.  Slow progress.

Right now, I'm playing State of Decay and KOTOR 2 until TES: Online comes out for consoles next week.

I havn't even touched the MP once (mainly from lack of people to play with). It just... Never interested me. Plus their advertising of MP events feels really childish to me lol

I really enjoy running around in the environment, and I'm still trying to perfect the order in which I want to do everything so I get the most value from my time. Also, the characters; they're really great. Mods have also helped with some things.

That said, I think part of your problem is that you have this thing in your head that you have these nine Inquisitors that you want to play the game with, so it just seems like this huge, insurmountable chore. If you don't like the mechanics I would encourage you to find a class and spec that you like and stick with that, either by creating different test characters or controlling your followers. I've found that the biggest hamper to enjoyment is in not liking your own PC or the way their class plays.

Other than advice to relax and let the game carry you away, I really can't suggest anything else since I don't know your typical playstyle or interests.

Depends on what I feel like doing in that playthrough. I did a playthrough that took only 17 hours whereas my 1st playthrough was about 132 hours.  I romance this character in one playthrough and in other playthrough, romance someone else

I did a playthrough only using Solas, Varric and Cassandra without recruiting anyone else

Well, as I said, I have someone planned for each Spec., so thats 3 of each class, so it's not really a lack of finding the right class lol. I actually kinda hate all the classes. Mages are underwhelming barrier-spammers, Rogues are far less tactical and Warriors are just bland.

I think i'm relying on my character's personality, and my followers to bring me back (Really looking forward to my up-himself Quizzy who has Vivienne and Dorian tagging along). I'll admit my current Quizzy is pretty bland in terms of personality, but I also feel that the game doesn't give many options for a personality to actually show? (From memory, the DA:2-style personality conversation choices were quite rare.)

I forced myself through the first time, skipped almost all of the companion quests and just rushed through to the ending - had just spent too much time doing fetch quests so my patience was thin. Re-bought the game on PC and picked a more fun class to play as (dw rogue + assassin skill tree), skipped almost all of the fetch quests and left stuff like dragons and some optional areas for post-ending, instead focused on the interesting stuff + companion quests. Ended up having a much much better time with the game.

Right now i'm not playing it - after my 2nd playthrough killed all the dragons and did JoH, already crafted the best armor and weapons so there's not much for me to do besides the fetch quests. Just waiting on DLC and playing other games in the mean time.

I load it up every now and then either just to craft weapons/armor or to try and finish up one of the last few sidequests I have in my canon playthrough...  or just look at the scenery.  I have an obscene amount of hours clocked in for my main playthrough, and I'm sure I'm going to keep putting more time in.

I still enjoy the game quite a lot, even for the little things... though I wish there was more to do.

I have four playthroughs, two of which have done JoH as well.

At the moment DAI is on hiatus for me, as I've been playing Witcher. I'll pick it up if and when they release more DLC.

I've only completed one playthrough. I have attempted several others, and sadly about 70% of my overall DAI play time are playthroughs I abandoned sooner or later after getting to Skyhold. I can't help but feel that DAI begins to run out of steam at that point. The banter bug and generally poor post launch support also put me off something fierce. At the moment I'm not interested in buying any DLC.

Then there's this other game about that professional monster slayer from Rivia, which seems to have made DAI mostly irrelevant to me.

After playing solidly since release I am now going to take a break and play Witcher 3.

Why have I been engaged so long?

I keep finding new things to discover. I want to complete all the collections, and find more of the secrets (Red Jenny stuff - really - had no idea!). I have yet to play as an Elf, so still need to do that and to romance that rascally Solas. I want to replay Jaws - only played it once.

I enjoy the game - simple as tha

I'm desperately trying to avoid playing now, because I have other games I need to play.

I really enjoy DAI. I think it would have been better if they'd bothered to document it at all, and made some more old-fashioned design choices, but overall I think the game is terrific.

I want to play more to try out some different builds, different world states, different Inquisitor personalities, and get some different outcomes. It's a brilliant game which has joined the ranks of games I'll likely never be entirely finished playing.

I just completed another playthrough + my first time with Jaws of Hakkon, and I'm considering holding off until I get a new system before I burn myself out.

I'm waiting for Arkham Knight and am playing purely because I want to do at least 2 play throughs so I can truly know the difference in choices. The main mission are fine but the boring open world is killing me to get through.

The romances, races, genders, personalities and voice acting is what adds re-playability for most.

But I haven't been playing as often lately, and have been finding myself playing MP instead of SP because there isn't as much variety after the first 2-3 playthroughs in the narrative. My first two playthroughs were very different: good human female mage that romanced Blackwall and 'evil' qunari male warrior that romanced Iron Bull. Sided with mages then templars, so the two playthroughs were as different as they could be.

But when I started playing as a human male archer in my third playthrough and romanced Dorian, I started playing less often and had to 'push' myself into playing through the parts that now felt like a chore in order to get to the meat of the playthrough (main quest and romance dialogues).

I'm on my fourth playthrough now and romancing Solas, and I just got to Skyhold even though I started the playthrough a while ago. I imagine I'm going to be working on that playthrough for a while, since I'm not one to rush and skip areas, but I don't really enjoy going through these huge areas and do everything for the fourth time since there are hardly any quests and they're not very interesting (Cutscenes would have helped, I'll never stop saying this). And other than the different quest for mages and templars in the first 'act', there aren't really any differences in what you play through each time.

I think what kills the replayability for this game despite it having many variables in race, gender, etc is that it's so huge. Even though DA2 had you always play as a human, I've played through it so many times and could still go back without dreading any part of the game. The reason for that is that the game is relatively shorter, with a tighter narrative, and each quest (other than a couple of 'find item and give item' fetch quests) feels more impactful. You don't get entire play sessions where you're just running around large areas with nothing in them except collectibles.

I started to get a little fatigued around my 3rd playthrough, as I'd (accidentally) burned through some of the new content a little too quickly. So I decided that it'd be fun to revamp my DA knowledge by reading the books and replaying the first two games, all in chronological order.

I'd say it gave the entire series a breath of fresh air for me. Knowing what I know from the books, certain decisions that had always been a given prior to my reading faced a challenge. I couldn't bear to execute Loghain this time around. This in turn also changed up what I saw in DA2, and so forth. So far, having new perspectives of the characters, old and new, and having newer decisions as a result (this is actually the first time I've ever wanted to keep Loghain alive) has at least given me the mentality of new things. There's more of a spark of the unknown, though I imagine much of that is in my head.

So I suppose if you're looking to satisfy any DA cravings, but also give Inquisition a chance to recover some of its interest, I'd recommend reading the books and replaying the first two games. It's time consuming, but I've been having a blast doing it.
