Because if you can't disappear, dump aggro on your teammates, teleport across the map, behead mooks with a cool-ass sword, and look damn smexy all at the same time, then you are using a scrub-tier sub-optimal kit, and need to GOML.

She is actually as amazing as the other N7 Kits but requires much more experience and skill to play as effectively. Majority of the players play her the wrong way, but that does not mean that she is not a powerful kit. Definitely the most fun kit in the game when played correctly.

She used to be the character I was my best with. There was a period of 3-4 months were all I would play was her. Then I set her aside for almost a year and forgot how to optimize her. I think I will try her tonight.
It's a great kit for scrubs on Platinum to charge into the crowd, nuke them and die from a stray warp ball or an atlas rocket DOT.
ps: I played her a lot more if the she weren't so damn lag dependent. (Even playing on-host can be a pain in the arse) Also dat rage, when you accidentally SS a Ravager and there's nothing you can do about it once you take off.

worse causes of rage: 1.) having a banshee teleport in front of your target right as you hit the button so you charge there instead 2.)when you SS across the map and yet the enemy magically knows your coming and turns around to get a cheap melee interrupt especially when it's a phantom as they always seem to be primed regardless of circumstances. 3.)accidentally targeting a praetorian who gets the bubble of denial up.

I've been playing on my weak manifest Xbox a/c the past couple of days. If I discuss actual scores or placings compared with how I normally 'do' in pugs on PS3, I'll feel obliged to talk about controllers and arthritis and blah blah blah.
So the short version is this: If I need to reassure myself that I don't suck, I can turn to the Shadow. She's a bad girl to begin with, and giving her a Duration Cloak makes her downright dirty. It's very therapeutic to embrace such dirtiness fully and watch your epeen grow, once in a while.

oh sure, that gun is great at killing all the swarmer spawns.
She is ineffecient, but damn is it fun teleporting around decapitating fools with a sword.
If you mean the Red Templar Shadow in lolDAMP, yes.
Dat dps, one-shot any player class unless you have low hp protection ability or tons of promotions .
Not so good against Collectors. Decent against most other factions.
