Ok I tried looking on line but uhh ok I was watching tv when all of a sudden the power turned off and I heard a some loud but distant pop like it came of from outside and then the power came on

sounds like a power surge. call your local electricy company. chheck your breaer box. do a 360 of your house and check for burnmarks. gl

Ya that sounds like a power transformer blew, if your power came back on though that means your grid has a back up. If you live in an area that still has the transformers up on poles you can probably check to see if the safety breaker popped loose.
