Hey everyone,

since the latest Origin update, my game crashes after checking the downloadable content and before I can click on anything in the menu. The multiplayer relation? I can start the game just fine in the offline modus and could play single player that way.

I already tried: repairing ME3; deinstalling and re-installing Origin and after that didn't work, I did the same with an earlier Origin version; deinstalling and re-installing ME3 (which took most of my Saturday afternoon); deleting the local profile in my ME3 save folder; cutting all files out of my ME3 document folder.

Nothing is working. Starting offline, then changing to online got me to play one full multiplayer match, before the game crashed again during the second.

Has anyone experienced the same problem recently (I read that it first came up after the retaliation DLC) and is there any hope to solve it or is multiplayer done for me now?

If it helps to analyze the situation from afar: I didn't play multiplayer for maybe two or three weeks before I wanted to play again yesterday and then Origin updated before I started the game and the first crash happened.

Thanks in advance for any helpful tips!

Sounds like the retaliation glitch, yeah. To "fix" it, start origin in offline mode, launch me3, select multiplayer. When it says you need to be online, alt tab and go online. Alt tab to the game, click okay and then click multiplayer again. Should work now, but you'll need to do this every time I'm afraid...

The second crash you had was probably random. I never have problems when I do this.

More free threads and me with nothing to say yet again... wait, anyone know what might be the cause of this glitch. I'm starting to get paranoid. Plus I only hear folks mentioning this glitch happening on PS3 lately. PS3 players at higher risk or something?

^ What really?! Good thing I was watching movies instead then. Something like that glitch might crush my hopes to continue with the PS3 account. So I'd really like to know what could be the cause of that glitch to avoid it. ... Wait, I have 2 PS3's (original model & slim). Anyone tried to see if switching between the two might help fix it?

I also have PS+ membership that carries my saves online to whatever PS3 I may land on. Could this contribute too or avoid that glitch?

^ Hey! Let's keep this on topic! (lol)

Also. This glitch is server side, right? As in, formatting PS3/re-installing windows is a no go, correct?

It won't help, no. The glitch is in the ME3 database. It fixes itself after a few days, probably when the server is resynced.

Incidentally, I'd be curious to know if anyone has kept track of what day of the week their Retaliation glitch is cured, to see if there's any pattern.

Ok, thanks guys. So it seems like I have to start the game offline and hope that the in-game crash was a random accident.

Disable origin in game

I also will try this.

Did you try repairing the individual dlcs? I gotta do that sometimes when origin screws up my me3.

That's what happens when the OP chooses a click-bait title, instead of giving it a short subject. Now enjoy some console gamers brainless comments!

OP, you deserve this picture

Installed all DLCs anew.

The offline start, then switch to online once the game asks to go online for Multiplayer worked this time. The game crashed only after I left multiplayer once I was in the menu again. Lol.

...

Sorry for the thread title. Didn't want a mod closing it with something like "go to the EA help site" before I got some answers from my fellow multiplayer gamers. Because of course I already went to the answers.ea.com site first to see whether there are solutions to this problem...

Yeah it always crashes again once you exit multiplayer and it re-checks DLCs But at least you can play ;)

Try installing dlc check bypass then?

Yup, seems to be the best work around! Unless someone finds THE solution, I will stick with this approach.

DLC mods can also cause this too. I have the DLC checker bypass installed because one of the DLC mods couldn't pass the DLC checker after I reinstalled the game.

Don't bother reinstalling the game or dlcs. If it is in is the Retaliation glitch, it is mostly caused by incorrectly exiting the game (or a crash) after completing a challenge. If you can figure out which challenge, you can attempt to complete it again. If it is a long as challenge, it might take a while.

I have this stupid glitch again.  Cropped up Monday eve after Origin updated.  Perhaps coincidentally, but I choose to blame it regardless.  Oh Origin you PoS.

Luckily, the offline/online toggle still works.  Meh.
