Hello all. I, like many of you, purchased the game yesterday. I'm now a proud owner of the Collector's Edition of Mass Effect 2. When I first started the game, it asked me to put in my cerebrus code. I would have gladly done so, but EA servers were getting hit pretty hard so I decided to simply put off entering the code until later.

Course, I couldn't just ignore ME2. I started the game with a fresh, default character. After playing for an hour, I decided to see if I could hit the EA server. I exited the game, restarted, was prompted for the Cerebrus activation, and managed to get through. I know that my Cerebrus code is active for the game. I see the cerebrus computer feed. I then clicked the button for downloadable content and was taken to a webpage where 4 downloads were waiting for me. Oddly enough, these downloads included the collector's edition armor and weapon which I hadn't entered a code in for yet. I guess it's somehow tied to the cerebrus network card?

Anyway, I download and run the 4 ME2 executables...

Collector's Edition Weapon and Armor
Dragon Age Armor
Cerebrus Network Armor (Pretty sure it said armor, I can check when I get back home I suppose)

Now, unlike my copy of DA:O, I've no clue if any of these actually worked. I don't see a screen where I can turn on and off the DLC as I see fit. I don't see a screen where I can confirm that the DLC is even there. Matter of fact, my game still has the scrolling text of "New Content Available!". I continued my default Shepard just to see if I had access to these items. When I finally got to a spot where I could customize my armor, I did not have the Blood Dragon or Collector's Edition armor. I also still don't have the collector's edition gun, let alone know where to pick it up.

I did finally redeem my code for the collector's edition and was taken to a download to redownload the exact thing I had previously downloaded. This appeared to make no difference.

So, my questions...

Bioware seems to be making steps backward with each step they take forward. I realize it's different teams for both games, but I'd think your teams would learn from what worked and what didn't work for the other team. Perhaps I'm blind, in which case feel free to mock me, but why is there no easy way to confirm that DLC is installed and running before I play the game?

As far as DLC goes, assuming I've downloaded it all properly, saw the installation process finish unpacking all the goodies inside, do I need to start a new character for the DLC to actually be visible? I won't lie, while I enjoy the bonus content of the Collector's Edition, I only made the purchase for the extra ingame items and I want to make sure they are running properly.

Thanks for your time, if I came across as snotty or rude anywhere, I apologize, I didn't mean to.

Only way to check is the unread mail in your Private console onboard the ship. Any DLC active leaves a new message in unread mail.
