Has anyone gotten this to go relatively well?

I think my reunion with Ashley (my ME1 LI) was pretty gut-wrenching, and probably pretty typical. Initial euphoria, then it all went kind of south. I'm going to imagine Shepherd was kind of choked up, which would account for my somewhat limited dialogue options, along the lines either of "I still have feelings for you" or "I have your picture in my captain's cabin, isn't that sweet?" And then Cerebrus came up, and it became really bad (not that I can blame her, given all the Awful Stuff that they were into in ME1,  even I'm less then thrilled about the arrangement.)

I wonder if anyone's played far enough to see if this is your only contact with your ME1 LE. (Wonder if they send an email saying they're sorry, or something.) Some reason to not replace that little picture in my cabin with, like, my Mom, who has turned down an Admiral promotion recently.

What I found strange was her getting stung by that collector bug, getting paralyzed and she is fine at mission end, am I missing something?

Obvious explanation: The collectors didn't get around to getting her, and when their ship leaves, it took their swarm with them. No swarm, no paralysis.

Other possible explanation: The Collectors are mind-controlling Ashley to mess with your head. We don't know enough about them to know if that's their style, or if that's something they're capable of.

I probably have to play at least one more mission to get this. (I assume it would be kind of a 'cheat' for a story device if RIGHT AFTER she dumps your butt on Horizon, she sends you an email saying, "Whoa, things got out of hand. Sorry.")

Still, I can't help but find some of the emails a little frustrating because there's no way to replay. (To explain to Dr. Michel, for example, that her clinic in the wards no longer seems to exist, or at least is inacessible.)

I find that strange, they've probably been keeping tabs on Shepard and know of his previous LI's.. so not taking her sounds like a stupid mistake.

This reunion is going to play out very differently for me on my FemShep playthough, never liked Kaidin as much as I liked Ashley. (And my FemShep is a renegade, so you know she's not going to take this nonsense.)

Finished quick quest, got said email.



The fact that the subject was "hey there" I found outrageously funny, and was a nice touch. (I suppose titling the email, "don't hang out with the girl with the more voluptuous character model and neat accent" would've been clunky.)

I really thought I was going to hate not having Ash in ME2 as much (and part of me does) but I'm really liking the potential here for epic storytelling as far as the love story goes. Conflict and drama are what makes any story interesting so I dig the rocky reunion and limited angsty contact. As long as the devs make good on their promise that Ash won't be forgotten for ME3, I'm cool.



And yeah, that scene was pretty heartwrenching.

For those that stick with their LIs, It will make the reunion in ME3 all the sweeter since it sounds like they plan for them to have a larger role.

You can get comments from Kelly and Joker after the reunion as well...if anyone missed that. You can even let Kelly know you still care for the person.

I did like how you had the option to give Joker a positive response, even though it seems like no one got that.

Now, do I stay chaste and hope for ME3? Or do I go with someone else, and hope in the third game there will be the Greatest ME Catfight Ever? Or will both ME 1 and 2 LIs be swept aside to make way for the newer, EVEN BETTER, ME3 LI?

All you need is lots of different playthroughs.    My main playthrough, the one that "counts" I'll be sticking with Ash.

Multiple playthroughs from the same set of ME1 decisions is easy because you can switch classes. (I'm keeping his goofy appearance, though. I messed up the first time, but it did grow on me.)



I was gonna keep Ashley, but Miranda DID get the elevator joke. It's to Bioware's credit I feel ambiguous and confused over this decision.
