Either joining needs a timeout for failure, or we need to be able to cancel

Seems reasonable?

But joining does have a timeout.

As for being able to cancel joining, that seems reasonable.

How long is it? 20 minutes?

There are two points it can hang... one is when it says it is joining a session, and another is when the screen is black before loading the level.

For me, it's a minute or two; if, when it says "Joining Session", if it doesn't change from the War Table image within 30 seconds, I know one of two things is about to happen: I'm going to either be dropped back at the MP menu or dropped into my own lobby.  I guess you've got a different experience, but I have no idea why.

Actually 20 seconds is already too much, no one uses dial up nowadays.

Would be nice.

I have experienced both the "joining session" screen of infinity where you stare at the war table forever and the endless black screen of joining a game in-progress only to never actually... you know... join the damned thing.

Doesn't happen to me often, but both are annoying because you can't just cancel out of it. Have to close the whole game and start over from scratch again. Very annoying.

EA might. It would explain a lot.

Actually you don't need to close game, you just click someone else's game link, then click back to one of your friends in the Blackened game.

Of course, works better on private game, because on pug, someone else could take your post.

The only way my game closes now is on CTD.

I've asked for console commands for forcing disconnect months ago, no response.

The dev console on pc is largely useless at its current shape, aside from toggling UI and setting resolution scale, some simple commands like quit or disconnect would make huge sense.

Ummm, what?

I've always encountered this screen when attempting to join a PUG match. Meaning I don't have any game link to click because they probably aren't on my friends list. It's just an endless black screen from which there is no escape other than closing the application - or, I guess, attempting to ninja-join a friend's match (rude, in my opinion) if one of my friends is playing DAMP at the time.

At least work to get you out Black Screen on Pugs, is better than restarting game.

I don't find it rude to crash in a friends's game, that's what are friends for  to me its just like:

Dramatization:

Me: hey there, how are you doing!

Friend: what are you doing here?

Me: i came to say hi, and you know come by...

Friend: but i am in the bath, you should ask first.

Me: ahh sorry, i'm not looking, i'm not looking! I just..

Friend: Dude! its 3 in the morning, get out!

Me: *runs*
