You guys have been building up to it (slowly, at best), but what happens when there are no Old Gods left? What happens then? Do the Darkspawn die, nd humanity is "redeemed", or will they go berserk and cause an endless blight?

Honestly? From the looks of it I doubt it would be that easy. After the last archdemon's death it might turn into an endless Blight or it might end up where there is only small incursions over time.

Nobody knows. Solas believes it might make things worse.

Well the next most powerful calling comes from Cory and his buds. So, darkspawn would go for them next. If they're all dead or whatever then i suppose all darkspawn would be like the awakened(unless there's another source of the calling that people aren't aware of). Which would mean they'd split into "tribes" and start fighting.. everyone. Think DA:A but across the entire continent. Well, that's what I've gathered at least.

Red lyrium - which is blighted - will probably still be a problem old gods or no. Given that we're lead to believe lyrium has a connection to magical will (it appears in the fade and powers magic), the idea of willpower itself being corrupted is daunting and possibly a larger issue. I'm beginning to think that the root of the blight isn't the darkspawn, nor is it the old gods, but probably something else entirely.

Personal hunch: I reckon the elves have something to do with it, otherwise Solas would have spilled the beans and been more open about why he isn't fond of the wardens.

I imagine the calling won't stop even if the old gods are dead. So the darkspawn will probably act as usual until they can find another vessel which can serve as an archdemon.

I always found it interesting that Grey Wardens are the only ones who can kill archdemons for good. If the archdemon isn’t killed by a warden, its soul just transfers to the nearest blighted creature.

Then Jaws of Hakkon got me thinking. After you defeat the dragon that Hakkon was bound to, Hakkon’s spirit returns to the fade. Now, what if that’s what archdemons are? Spirits that are bound to dragons that become blighted (or hell maybe they were already blighted idk). Maybe they can’t return to the fade because of the blight within them? They need a warden to cancel that out? Their souls fuse with the wardens’ souls to return to the fade? Idk. But, if that’s the case, maybe all of the archdemons’ souls are returning to the fade and gathering…. Maybe that’s why Solas implies killing them all might make it worse? So…. When Morrigan performs the ritual, she keeps that archdemon soul and it eventually finds its way to Flemeth/Mythal then Solas.

Eh!!

Anyway, *tosses tin-foil hat to the side* Reading the codex entries on each blight, the darkspawn seem to use different tactics when choosing how to invade Thedas each blight. I think it would be awesome if the darkspawn awakened the final two archdemons at the same time. I mean, it’s their last chance to do something like that.

After the initial panic phase the surviving Darkspawn, especially the those "born" after all old gods die, will be relatively intelligent.

It'll be up to them what they want to do. They'll be individuals with wills of their own, so I'm sure each darkspawn will have its own culture and stuff. Some will be war loving others will be indifferent

No Old Gods to dig for? Party on the surface!

The only way a Blight has ever been defeated was by killing the Archdemon and then all the darkspawn go start digging for the next one. No Archdemon death, no retreat, millions of darkspawn still rampaging without need of sleep, food, and their very presence is toxic.

Plus, even if Thedas survives that mayhem, the Qunari will just swoop in and take over since all the nations will be in ruins.

The enemy is the blight, not necessarily the Old Gods (they may be villains, but they are caged villains at the moment), and that should be the focus. Find Maric's sword and that one enchanted dagger from The Calling novel, research and replicate and things will go well for the future against the blight.

Didn't the Architect cut some Darkspawn from the Calling of the Old God? It drove them insane? If you remove the last Old Gods, wouldn't the Darkspawn population go berserk?

That's the nature of evil, when one passes something will always rise to takes its place. Commonly stronger than the previous. Thedas will never know peace.

Not exactly. The Darkspawn that were no longer hearig the caling gained sentinence and while some behaved like total d*cks, most of them didn't seem much more insane than the average thedosian person (who very often behave like total jerks as well). Some were even pretty reasonable. The only one that was truly batshit insane was the awakened Broodmother. But she is a special case since she was a human women once and the transformation into a brood mother is rather ...unpleasant. So her mental state might very well be due to regaining sentinence after being horiffically tortured and having to turn into a monster.

That being said it would most likely still be bad form humanity and Co since with their superior numbers a race of intelligent Darkspawn could easily establish some sort of civilization (probably after heavy infighting at first just like in Awakening) that would pose a major threat to everyone rivaling the blights. Only that this time there won't be a "kill this Dragon to make the Darkspawn retreat" way out.
