Wait... ESO hasn't come out yet? I thought it released like, last year or something?

It hasn't come out on ps4 and xb1. It will this week. Tonight, for some.

It sounds more like ESO would be a better rental for you - or a discounted bargain bin game. You know? I mean... you could save money on a game that probably won't blow you away, given what you've described here. ;)

Probably true. I just haven't bought a game in awhile. DA: I and State of the Decay are the only games I've bought since November. I'm due for one and I don't mind giving this franchise money, even if it's a shitty format for me.

SWTOR went F2P faster than ESO.

I bought it for the xbox1. Have not had a lot of time to play, but I've had fun the time I have played. I can't wait for the weekend to come, so I can put some serious gaming time.

Well, I'd say wait until after E3. I think they might be announcing new models for both consoles.

edit: Wait, looks like they just announced a new xbone yesterday. 1TB

ESO? It's really great!

Oh wait, you mean TESO! I don't care about TES or mmos, so...

Don't care about it.

But I liked Harry Partridge's cartoon of it.

So I'm a full day in and can't really speak about the game because it took over 4 hours to install and update yesterday (I bought the disc copy).  Then it took me over an hour to actually log in.  I got numerous error messages and got stuck in the queue as 'person one with 1 second to wait' for about 20 minutes.  When I was finally able to create a character, I got kicked mid-create back to the main menu again and got stuck in the 'error/queue' loop again.  Finally got to create my character and play through the prologue.  Got to the first town in Tamriel.  Stopped to eat dinner.  Haven't been able to log back in again since then.  I keep getting error messages now.

I understand that MMO's have issues the first day because of the increased amount of people logging in, but this sucks.  Guess I'll go back to my back up game for a few days and try again later when they either increase bandwith or lose customers.

I got it for PS4. Will be starting it up tonight when I get home.

Going in with low expectations.

So I still have no opinion on the game because I've now gone two whole days without being able to play beyond the prologue.  Since last night, I've not been able to log in once.  I either keep being placed in the queue, which cycles my position between 878000, 12700, and 1.  Over and over again.  And it tells me that my wait time is 1 second.  Either that or I get an error message.

This is really unacceptable.  I've had this game for almost 48 hours and it's only worked for 2 of those hours.

I've played a huge number of MMOs and I was excited for TESO because the game director is Matt Firor and he was behind DAoC which was probably the best MMO not called WoW (and maybe even called WoW, for awhile)

That said I checked into TESO and all the MMO elements are pretty...... raw.... it's like they didn't keep abreast of developments in MMO gaming for some time, and consequently I'm not surprised they were sort of hammered when the game came out properly.

It's hard to stay on top in MMO world if you try and make yourself like WoW (which is kind of what TESO did), but at the same time it's hardly unplayable just couldn't meet people's crazy expectations I guess.

But for your sake Dave, I hope it eventually stops giving you trouble. Honestly, this sounds so familiar with every mmo I've attempted. I have since sworn them off. :/

Oh god. Return it if that is possible. I don't know. I just don't like seeing people get screwed over like that.

They're just now releasing the console port, but people keep phrasing it as though the game itself is getting released for the first time.

I'm sure it's just due to the high user load because of release.  I expect that it will sort itself out in the upcoming days.  Doesn't decrease my frustration, mind you, but I understand why it's happening.  I just felt the need to grouse about it because, well, it's BSN and that's what we do best.  I'm thoroughly enjoying Massive Chalice right now, so I'll just keep trying off and on and come back to it in a week or so.

I like ESO. The game is full of lovely quests and NPCs, special mention to Naryu, Cadwell, Raz, and the Khajiit with the dog. I also appreciate that you can make choices in most of the side quests. They don't have big effects but well, at least there are choices ... unlike in some games. They help you roleplay your character.

I do only play the content you can play solo eeew people  and I would have liked  the game better if it were single player but oh well.

So yeah, I enjoy it. More than Skyrim actually.
