I'll stick to the SP games.

I'm sure it's just due to the high user load because of release.  I expect that it will sort itself out in the upcoming days.  Doesn't decrease my frustration, mind you, but I understand why it's happening.

Well, good luck I say. Though this has given me more reasons to avoid ESO, not that I needed more reasons to do so.

Wow, I thought it was released on consoles already.

Nay.

Well...now it is, as of this last week.

I like ESO. The game is full of lovely quests and NPCs, special mention to Naryu, Cadwell, Raz, and the Khajiit with the dog. I also appreciate that you can make choices in most of the side quests. They don't have big effects but well, at least there are choices ... unlike in some games. They help you roleplay your character.

I do only play the content you can play solo eeew people  and I would have liked  the game better if it were single player but oh well.

So yeah, I enjoy it. More than Skyrim actually.

I dunno. See, for me, this game is either a "nope - won't buy" or a bargain bin item. (More likely the former.) But I know that I won't like it. I can't stand MMO's and I can't stand playing games with other people. I guess it feels strange to me to spend money on a game that is advertised as an MMO and struggle to keep it single player, only - avoiding any quests that hinge on grouping up.

Skyrim is a great game, so I can't even fathom ESO being better than it - but those are the fickle things about opinions. Mileage varies and all that. Have fun with ESO, at least! I know it did not get very good ratings and reviews. Most feedback is "meh" at best, which actually keeps me hopeful that Bethesda will spring an amazing, awesome, single player Elder Scrolls game on us sometime soon. Something that will get rave reviews and be Game of the Year, if possible.

Most of the quests can easily be done alone, I only had to skip the group dungeons. Turned the chat window off and all I noticed of other people where occasional guild invites. And of course their toons. But you're right, if you really don't like MMOs I wouldn't buy it. Other players hopping around can break immersion too. Skyrim did have a much better atmosphere.

And I too reaally hope Bethesda makes a fantastic new single player TES and soon. I was actually very sad they announced Fallout 4 because I kept hoping their next big game was Elder Scrolls 6.

So I finally got to log in and play my male Orc Templar yesterday. Had a pretty good time. Was able to do the first few area quests and pilfer some appropriate starting gear (I was running around in rags for a while). Also got a chance to create and play around with two alt characters: a female Orc Nightblade and male Argonian Dragonknight. Trying out all three faction areas.

In general, I like what I've seen so far. It's not a replacement for TES6 but it's a good time while I'm waiting. Similar to how SWTOR wasn't a substitution for KOTOR3 but at least time I know I'm getting a true single player sequel so it's all good.

It's kind of immersion breaking waiting for respawns and having a bunch of other characters around when the story suggests you'd be alone. For example in the starting area for the Orc faction, there's a quest that requires you to sneak into a merchants house to look for evidence of an assassination plot. I get into the house and there are dozens of characters wandering around. Plus it kind of ruined the surprise that the owner was there becaus as I was exploring (ie, looting) I kept hearing him yell "Kill the intruders!" And then combat sounds. But I guess that's par for the course for an MMO.

The other major critique I have is about the class system. I really don't like being forced into set skill trees. I much more enjoyed the Skyrim approach that allowed you to really customize your character by choosing from any skill trees that you wanted.

Other than that, it's pretty solid. Not the best game I've ever played but enjoyable enough for now.

I wasn't crazy about it when it first launched on PC.  I remember it was just barely Elder Scrolls enough to make me want to go back and play Oblivion and Skyrim but not Elder Scrolls enough to hold me on it's own right.  Being that it was an MMO that was trying to please both MMO fans and the fans of the single player RPG series that it is named for and I can't speak for the MMO fans (I am not an MMO guy)  but I know the TES fans felt disappointed.  With that being said I decided to get the xbox one version this past week anyway because I am more of a console gamer and I would rather play with a controller than a mouse and keyboard and I am having alot more fun with it this time around than I did a year ago.  Think I will try out the PVP next time I fire it up.  So yeah I am glad I am giving it a second chance.

Yeah, the four base class skills are kinda lame, but I do like the fact that you can completely go against type with the other secondary and weapon skill sets. For example, I recently made a High Elf Sorcerer that wears heavy armor and uses a two handed great sword.

It's nice to play an MMO where your mage archetype isn't restricted to only wearing cloth armor and wielding a staff.
