Pftt. Flimsy anti-material rifle. You can't beat the YCS Gauss rifle. Energy weapons man...

Seriously speaking, I never bought much stuff, only weapon mods when I thought they were useful. I'm the kind of hoarder that picks up weapons from loot and dead enemies and keep using them until I find something better. Not to mention my preference for using unique gear.

Eh, keep your energy weapons. This is the only way to walk the Mojave. :D

Making money and making a in-depth and complex conversation and choice system is not the same thing.

If anything, they seem to be mutually exclusive.

If richness is your idol, it is.

Well, even if richness is your idol, as you say... it still doesn't make a complex conversation and choice system.

The point is that their game sells like hot cakes even if they don't have the features you talk so much about. Clearly what they offer is enough to please a lot of people, while your complaints fall in deaf ears. So, you can complain how Bethesda isn't hardcore enough, but in the end little to no one will bother to hear it.

The meaning of my phrase is: if people lust for wordly goods, you can't expect them to pay much attention to quality itself.

So striving to make money as there's no tomorrow, and making a good product, are mutually exclusive in this case.

I'm not sure that's really a criticism. COD sells like hotcakes, and so does WOW, but that doesn't make, say, TW3 or ME2 bad games.

Remember: every successful idiotic thing always had people buying it. If I have fifty bucks in my pocket and they offer me crap for those, my freedom is to say "this is dung" and not buy it.

That is to say that Bethesda has surely become wealthy and successful, but at the price of making not always excellent games, despite the people praising that not excellent stuff.

This means people has no taste and should get back to play Chess or Checkers.

It'll sell a ton of copies, and I'll be one of the people who buy and enjoy it.

However House does have a bit of a point. I don't buy Bethesda games because I think they're going to offer me a lot of choice and consequences with great dialogue.

Making a sub par video game isn't a sin, though. I don't like some of the news coming out about the game, but that doesn't mean I want Todd Howard to be smite from above, either.

They might be making a ton of cash, but it isn't on the back of their super detailed, rich and immersive dialogue system.

It's on the back of a well paid PR machine that uses buzzwords and a prior track record to attract the interests of people. If FO4 has a ton of issues at launch nothing will ever redeem Bethesda in the eyes of the consumers that aren't sheep.

As an example, look at the criticism BioWare still faces after DA2 and ME3.

I think the story and exploration will be stellar.

Prepare to be disappointed.

I like you, staying optimistic :)

Why should we? I have never been dissapointed in any Bethesda game. Not even in the story. FO4 will be a solid product despite the flaws it will have.

What? You didn't follow Skyrim closely before release or something?

I saw the trailer about a year before release and then i played the game 11 months later. I didn't really follow the game no. It is my favourite Elder Scrolls game actually, played it for well over 1000 hours. So what did they do before release that would have made me and obviously others dissapointed?

New engine, snow is not part of the terrain it is it's own object and you will watch it pile up, weather will be dynamic and change game play, the graphics will allow you to see your own footprints in the snow, combat animations, great guild quests, fus roh dah...

DYNAMIC SNOW. I remember that. Was supposed to make your character move slower the thicker it got or something. Let's not forget Radiant Quests either. Every quest was supposed to be altered dynamically based on your actions. If you killed a quest giver, you could complete the quest via a close relative but the quest itself would branch off into several directions based on the circumstances. How many quests had that in the end? 3? Was there any branching at all?

Todd is rather Molyneux-esque when it comes to making big promises about Bethesda games.

He gets away with it because he exudes the aura and charisma of an excited adokable child who just wants you to have fun. And how could you hate a well meaning guy like that?

I consider him one of the biggest hacks in the industry who lost touch with games after Morrowind personally.

This is why I barely follow most games pre-release anymore. The things they tell you are rarely seen in the game and the things they don't mention are the reality you deal with while using the game 99% of the time.

Wait for the game to come out, listen to reviews you trust and rate the game on what it is, not on what someone said it would be.

I do wish Bethewda used their Radiant Quest design to a tenth of the potential they try and talk about it, though.

Well, doesn't the same go for people assuming the game will disappoint even before the release?

Well the game did have decent combat animations, in my opinion it had great guild quests and Fus Roh Dah worked. So the weather was a PR thing then. I don't really follow games that closesly after their reveal, i only started doing it lately. I rather be surprised by what i didn't know than be dissapointed in what i expected and knew, if that makes any sense. It probably does not. I will follow FO4 abit more than other games, but not past what was shown at E3 and a few interviews with Todd or Pete Hines.

It is why i think that DA:I is a great game aswell, all i knew about it was that we could raise our hand to the sky and some green magic would come out of it and that Varric was in it.

Eh. Sort of? At least with low expectations you are likely to be surprised. High expectations are where you really get in trouble.

Of course, high expectations also guarantee pre-orders, so there's that.
