I never pre-order. In fact, I usually buy an game 3 months after release or so. And I tend to keep my expetations in the averages.

The reason I'm excited for FO4 is because so far, they are doing exactly what I like to see: Fleshed out protagonists, cinematic storytelling, fast paced combat, faithfulness to the original style, and good visual quality.

So even if the game fails and disappoint the more die hard fandom, it's likely I'll still enjoy it.

Well, doesn't the same go for people assuming the game will disappoint even before the release?

Not really since there is alot of stuff that has already been announced and shown to back it up.

This is why I barely follow most games pre-release anymore. The things they tell you are rarely seen in the game and the things they don't mention are the reality you deal with while using the game 99% of the time.

Wait for the game to come out, listen to reviews you trust and rate the game on what it is, not on what someone said it would be.

I do wish Bethewda used their Radiant Quest design to a tenth of the potential they try and talk about it, though.

Pre-release hype is meaningless to me. I will occcassionaly pre-order a game, but it's basically only when I know what I'm functionally getting with the finished product, i.e., a CDPR or Bioware game.

you must not have followed DAI before its release then... or ME3... cause those were nothing like what they said they'd give us.

Apart from the abominable ending, both ME3 and DAI were exactly what I expected. And I followed both pre-release. I just didn't buy most of the features Bioware sold that weren't a part of the older games, and it's those older features that I cared about when it came to buying the game.

In both of those cases they did deliver most of what was said, especially you mostly payed attention what they promoted the months leading to the launch when they had a clearer idea of what was in the game. So for example with DAI they no longer really spoke about the versatility of the Inquisition anymore at that point. And with ME3, I don't quite understand your argument as aside from the tweet on the endings, they pretty delivered exactly what they promised.

Is the dog holding onto something there, or just standing up on its hind legs?

AFAIK, the dogs in FO3/NV pretty much always stayed up on all fours and never sat down, stood up, or slept, so that must be a new animation.

Behold! A silent protagonist! No dialogue wheel! A skills tab! Skill checks! SPECIAL checks! Tremble, non-bronies, tremble and despair. Fallout Equestria is still pre-alpha and it's already a better Fallout game than Fallout 4.

Doubtful, but nice try. You can ofc voice your opinion in this thread, but doesn't it make more sense to post here if you are actually looking forward to the game and not just to bash on a product that isn't even out yet? Or are you sarcastic? :P

I've come across mention of "Fallout: Equestria" more than once - what exactly is it?

I saw all that Equestria stuff in the New Vegas thread.

All I can say is...wow...the things you see when you don't have Nuka Nades handy.

Yeah, and actually it makes me want an official Fallout novel series.

There's a spinoff fic that has over 1 million a quarter words.

Narrative wise, Fallout has a huge amount of potential games can't always tap into.

Bethesda is stepping out of their confort zone by having voiced protagonists in their sandbox game. I'm willing to give them a chance.
It's breaking away from the Fallout mold but FO3 and New Vegas being sandboxes already did that to begin with.

Honestly, I'm much more concerned about them providing a subpar story which they are sure to do.

Why having a voice-acted protagonist is breaking the mold from Fallout?

The original protagonist in F1 could have it, if only the resources were more. In fact, every time it was possible, with the main NPCs, they were voiced and well voiced indeed.

That dog in the image should realistically be falling out of the plane. lol

You crazy son of a ******. Why do you want to torment people? Do you get pleasure from other people's pain? I'd sooner play Fallout 3 vanilla unpatched than Fallout Equestria!

Oh yeah, of course. It's new, so it must be better. I'll bet you believe that always online DRM is a "service" too.
