I used a lot of weapons in New Vegas, but my prefered ones were the YCS Gauss rifle, the light machine gun (reminded me of the good ol' days of counter strike), this machine, the Q-35 matter modulator when I felt like turning enemies into green barbecue and the ballistic fist.

Knock Knock is great, and you have to wear the fireman helmet aswell while cleaving through the Mojave. I always have a problem getting interested in melee characters though, mainly because i prefer firearms. Also because i really don't know any good builds for melee and i die way to fast. I do like the unarmed weapon they added in GRA though, Embrace of the Mantis King. Usually stick it on Veronica along with some Power armor and she will tear down everything in the Wasteland.

I liked going around blowing peoples brains out with the Medicine Stick.

I suppose if I really wanted to, I could complete NV with a .22 pistol. After all, had to kill a Deathclaw with it for the Pros Only Challenge. Just think it would be boring as $#!+. Good thing is that I guess I could carry a ton of junk around now. Sounds like a blast. Not.

It's possible to complete the game killing no one but Mr. House, and if you pull a .22 on him, what's he gonna do?

Ex-zachary. Yeah, not like House is going to come at you with a Super Sledge or anything!

I really don't get the whole "you only need" thing in New Vegas. For gods sake, Obsidian added an insane number of weapons to the universe. And really good ones to boot. To not use them seems...wrong. Hey, but to each their own.

I mean, you really only need your fists when you get right down to it.

My favorite Cowboy weapon. Your Courier's shown up to play when you see that thing strung across their back!

No, you can't. Try using an sniper in an heavy fire fight at mid ranges. Most likely, you won't hit much. Unless you don't mind getting addicted to jet as you can't just spam vats.

the whole point of carrying a sniper rifle is not getting in toi heavy firefights at mid ranges....

No, that makes too much sense.

You're only supposed to try to use them in mid range fights, and even then they never do enough damage even with three VATS 100% chance to hit headshots.

Anyone posted this yet?

Some new little things. I noticed how the mister Handy doesn't say your name during the conversation. Perhaps because the player choose an name that was not in the game data files? I'm still wondering if pipboy freezes time or is it real time?

Ahhh, that power armor sequence never gets old...

The Pip-Boy no longer actually freezes time; it only slows it. So now targeting decisions have to be made a bit faster.

To see how much it slows time, look at the engagement with the raiders starting right at 2:28. He's still running, but he's in slo-mo as opposed to virtually standing still. Hit percentages will also changes as targets move.

You're mistaking Pip-Boy with VATs.

Honestly it could have been a good time to get free from the vault-boy+pip-boy or random-pc+pip-boy stereotype.

Why do I need to be a "special" vault-dweller or "special" outsider?

Why do I have to have a "special" wrist-computer?

A Pip-Boy is part of Fallout. Without it, how are we suppose to have a cool way of accessing our inventory?

Inventory = dedicated window screen (no pip-boy needed and F1 and F2 had that)

Health and Stats = same (same)

Maps, time and missions = respectively: a dusty old map that is updated everytime you discover something new; a fashioned old watch; a notebook with pages part burnt at the edges.

And about a computer, I'd have used it (when found) for things like technical interactions (examining supposed hidden doors/objects/mechanisms; sequences that give you the ability to use certain things like "hacking" with other computers [it would be a more powerful and interesting stuff]; detector for people's probable mood, that would help the natural stats and perks).

I know I might be the only to think it this way, at least for the 4th episode of the franchise.

Well, don't I feel like an idiot!? Pretty much just read what I wanted to into that. Good point though.

Well, I don't think conversations freeze time any longer. Isn't the world still active in the background during a conversations? That might be an indicator...maybe not. But hmmmmm, not sure about it when bringing up the Pip-Boy. I suppose we'll see here soon.

If the world is active when were in the pip-boy, that'll pretty much stop me from bringing it up in the middle of combat to repair crap up when we I was at the max carry weight, just so I could continue on. A little more planning will be required.

Honestly, I'm still more than a little worried about how they're going to work skills / perks / leveling. That's something, they just aren't willing to show in any real detail yet.

Not sure they will either. We'll get a Quakecon demo and then a gamescom demo. After that they will probably not show anything else before launch. So we'll see what is in those demo's, if they are released to us aswell.

I hope pip-boy still freezes time, if it doesn't it kinda removes its purpose to be a menu for our inventory if you ask me. That is just my feeling on that lol

Well hopefully so, this building stuff as made exploring extra stuff for material alot more interesting.

Eh, it's an honest mistake.

You are right about conversations. You can notice the grass moving in the background when the protagonist is talking to Codsworth. So like Skyrim, it seems conversation goes in real time.

I noticed pipboy haves an stimpack hotkey the moment you bring it up, so maybe it will be real time. Perhaps that's why fire weapons now have an melee function. No time to switch to melee during combat.

TH also said that he noticed play testers were hoarding even more stuff than before, because of the new crafting mechanics.

Great, just what I need. As if my inventories before weren't bloated enough already in the past!

Relooking at all videos of the Pip-Boy being brought up; it APPEARS the world freezes, but that's hardly conclusive.

For what it's worth also; in Skyrim, the only menu-type actions that didn't freeze the world was crafting and conversations. Anything else done in the menu froze the world. Maybe that continues in FO4?

Skyrim conversation system was horrible.... Why would they use it again?
