Where the hell does the idea about skills having been removed come from?

There has been no word about that during the presentation. Or is that the latest "they didn't confirm this, so obviously it has been removed" madness-whatever for clickbaiting people into google search results to boost referral and ad revenue for shady webpages?

Clearly Fallout 4 has no story.

Whoever says that Fallout 4 looks just like Fallout 3 is absolutely insane.

It doesn't look like the best looking games out there, but the graphics seem to be solid.

General texture quality is quite good, character faces look far, far better (almost on par with Inquisition I'd say), animations (mostly facial animations) are suprisingly good for a Bethesda game.

I'm glad they went for cinematic conversations. And character creator looks interesting (no sliders?).

Clearly Fallout 4 has no story.

Good thing they confirmed that you can go wherever you want, or people will be writing on forums, that Fallout 4 is a corridor shooter.

Hah. V.A.T.S. only slows down time this time, it's not an actual pause. Interesting.

uuuuuh, I am not exactly impressed with what I've seen so far..

Does anyone know if the new "dialogue" style limits you to only 4 responses?

Also, how are people going to do quest mods without them not being immersion breaking (no voice acting for the protagonist)?

And no sneaking mechanic. None of that was shown during the conference either.

It's based on images of the Pip-Boy menu, in previous games there were skill menues but in images of the Pip-Boy so far shown from Fallout 4 there is no menu for skills.  Some people have jumped the gun going into the "You ruined" area but nothing has been said about how they are being handled.

Again a lot of this is been overdone by people who are quite passionate about the series and really don't like changing what they always felt worked.  It's more that big silence from the company that gets people speculating and assuming the worst, though you can't really blame them as Bethseda has done a lot of streamlining in past games..

Here is the Pip_boy image

I looked around and found that Bobbleheads are in the game still so they may just be doing something different (such as move skills into perks).  After looking at this more it does appear that Skills are being moved into perks so instead of having a numbered skill you may have low/med/high level perks to cover things such as speech, weapon use, barter etc.

While the game looks amazing, and I really wish I could get hyped for it... I'm not a huge fan of the predetermined wife-and-kid background. Gonna make it real hard to make the kind of characters I usually enjoy to roleplay.

Eh, it's quite obvious that level progression has been reworked significantly. I noticed that as soon as I saw the SPECIAL allocation starting with every attribute at default 1 and 21 spare points, instead of the usual every attribute at 5 and 10 spare points to allocate.

And on that picture alone I can count 20 spots for bobbleheads. That makes seven for the usual SPECIAL and thirteen for skills.

I'd reckon that people who're passionate about the game to the point of causing an outrage would also be able to see such stuff. But hey, maybe they treat PER as dump stat or something like that.

From what I watched -- It looks alright. Feels like they took more than one cue from BioWare and thought to add in a cinematic dialogue system even though the protagonist isn't quite the pre-determined character as that of Geralt or Adam Jensen.. but along with the dialogue wheel comes the BioWare-face. That Uncanney-esque-level oddness, where it seems evident that the facial animations were developed seperately from the body language.. I noticed Paul Eiding voicing the Vault-Salesman, which is neat. Excellent voice actor who can do some quite quirky voices for zany personalities.

Overall the game looks pretty nice and Fallout was always a more fun universe than that of Elder Scrolls, but Bethesda's insistency on trying to tell gritty stories and pain it all as brown and grey and generally awful is rather obnoxious given how absurd the Fallout universe is -- It just doesn't work for me so I hope it still remembers not to take itself too seriously despite now embracing a voiced protagonist which I'm not that big on.. Usually I like 'em, in say BioWare games, but prefer Silent ones for sprawly games like this, or Persona, where the voice becomes more of an annoyance.

I'll most likely get the game. I'll probably end up enjoying it more than Fallout 3.

Mass hysteria, FO4 obviously has a skill system or did no one notice this little tidbit? It now appears to use some sort of rank system similar to the 1-10 scale of Special. Hopefully it will ensure characters can no longer become over powered gun slinging, quantum physics, computer hacking, mechanical engineering geniuses on a single character.

Man, I don't want to look for anyone. I'd prefer the entire family is dead so I can just be Mad Max/Maxine in the wasteland.

I lol'd because I agree but also because the way it's phrased.

The shots of the Pipboy don't have "Skills" or anything equivalent on it. I think people are jumping to conclusions on that, though.

For the record, I am in the process of downloading the Vault game app. I'll let everyone know if it is good or a total waste of time.

Do you know what I'd give for Silly!Hawke VA for a high Charisma snark character?

I generally agree with your point on VA on RP/Sandbox games, it's more a limitation to roleplaying as it dictates a significant part of ingame interactions. Ultimately I'll have to see how it works out. it can be meh, can be irrelevant, can be the greatest thing since the invention of the mute button.

But hot damn, a Silly!Hawke VA would be the greatest pair-up with the Rock-It Launcher since ever!

How do people do quest mods without voicing NPCs in other Bethesda games?!

Oh, wait, people do that all the time and just use text. It's not the end of the world.

Or, you know. They actually do. And thise are in the Top 100 mods on Nexus.

And I never said it was the end of the world, it was a legitimate question. Sorry for not being a yes-man.

Science skill is circled. It apparently uses a 1-10 system like Special.

Ya people were just reacting to changes made to the system and people see changes as bad things for some reason..... besides I'm sure someone who doesn't like the new system will mod the old one back in.

Quest mods will not be a problem. They will just add lines on the 4 options in the conversation tree and use something like fuz roh doh/smaller talk to add the dialogue. Modders always find a way. I think Bethesda i using a voiced protag to get people more invested in the story they are telling. It will work for some and not work for others. I don't mind, but i can see why people do. Also i am glad he skipped all questions about the story in the post interview, i think they should just keep everything hidden, its release soon after all.

Sounds reasonable. Like I said, I was just wondering about how this might be handled.

Apart from that, I have nothing againts voiced protagonists. Loved Alpha Protocol, Mass Effect and Deus Ex. It's just that I am curious as to how it'll work in Fallout.

I agree, I loved being a snarky Hawke -- The female voice sounded like Courtenay Taylor to me which is neat. She's excellent.

I don't like the concept of being a wife or a husband, even if they are dead anyway (are they? This is the part where it turns out that your son has become a Super Mutant whom you have to kill or something).. but yeah, the limitations that come with a voice is jarring. I imagine they won't implement stat checks with this new system either -- In Fallout 3 it was all down to random chance as to whether your stat check would pull through.

We'll see how it plays I suppose.

I made a joke about that when the last trailer released. The picture they showed of a male Vault Dweller looked exactly like Troy Baker to me.

It's fair to say I've gotten fed up with him :P
