Since it's implied the PC is a vet from the war prior to the great one, I'm totally going the female Tony Stark route in crafting.

Making my own power armor plus my house- from a box of scraps!

With how things ran pre great war, I think that's pretty plausible

I actually like the family centered story if indeed that's what they're going for in FO 4. It makes sense, is plausible and far more interesting than the I'm the hero/villain of the Wastland route in 3&NV.

I'm thinking of playing a female character this time , if the newborn is MIA or dead ...well it's interesting .

When I play female character I tend to be more cool and nicer , but I can totaly imagine a mother who just lost her kid being a fury and not bothering with diplomacy.

And if the family don't die , I can create a good looking husband...that's something.

The family is still annoying me though , I can't imagine playing a parent losing a baby going "oh well I just find a dog and a power armor , it's not so bad."

I wanted to play a carefree freak in Fallout , I had fun with that in New Vegas.Oh well.

I don't even want to think about "I'm a bot" possibility.

Do you think we can truly capture the devastation here?

Our PC's in this game lose EVERYTHING!

Imagine right now, we survive a nuclear holocaust. It's 2014. Imagine losing everything you've held dear, and wake up it's 2214.

Everyone you known is dead.

Oh, please tell me we can make custom paintjobs for weapons and armor?

I want pink zebra camouflage for my powerarmor.

Oh.

We're playing Javik.

Would be cool to be able to call people "primitive".

I would really like to see that impact the story in some way. One of my favorite things about ME 3 was the ware and tear Shepard began to experience and the hints of PTSD, but then they just completely ignored it and glossed over it.

I've seen paint cans in the trailer and other footage. My first thought was color customization. There have never been paint cans before...paint guns (useless), yes...but not paint cans.

The real question is that with the Bethesda.net authentication required, will there also be a step to sniff out any mods not distributed through Bethesda? If so, even mods that are free through Bethesda that are installed from the Nexus may trigger the game to not load (without a crack).

That's what I would do, honestly.

Jimmy, this is one time I pray you are wrong.

I wonder if I can have the turrets using the fatman when the baddies enter my area and trip the wire?

As for paid mods. I'm meh about it. I'm not inclined to care that much since they're starting this with a new game and I'm inclined to hope that most of us are gonna be cheap enough that we'll ditch the paid for mods leaving them to rot.

But I've been called an optimist so who knows.

I guess I'm just an optimist because I'm actually excited to have mods coming to PS4 and XB1, but I agree PC players shouldn't have to pay money for something that's always been a part of PC gaming.

Oh I'm very happy console peeps are finally getting mods. It's about time. But I'm more concerned about companies trying to leech mods the way they leech at every single other revenue stream.

Once it becomes paid, it's less like mods on PC and more like... custom build content sold via microtransactions with no guarantee it will work.

TBH, this thread is pretty positive. You should see the Bethesda forums it's original FO fans vs new FO fans, it was depressing.

So Todd mentioned in the conference that the game has over 50 weapons. Thats not exactly a big number, especially if we include melee/fist weapons in the number, so here's hoping the "over 700 mods" will make up for it.

It is also possible with this new modding system that weapons in general will be more scarce, which I think is better than finding assault rifles by the boatload in barrels and crates.

Shooting looks very promising in the trailers. Weapon animations appear to be more fluid, and it seems they have actual recoil. Not sure what to think of hitmarkers.

And give me my Gauss Rifle! Or better yet, a Railgun!!!

I'm just cynical about any potential scheme to monetize stuff via microtransactions. I'm actually pretty excited about FO4 in virtue of PC VO alone. That makes it a day one buy now. All it needs is gunplay that isn't garbage.

Gauss Rifles are Railguns I don't know why, but they changed the ammo type in NV. Back in og Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics there were Gauss Rifles, Pistols and a Gauss Mini Gun.

Sure. I loved the gauss weapons, especially the rifle and the pistol. With the right perks you could do a whole carnage using the pistol, lots of aimed shots and hits per round.

Not really, but close enough. I'll take either one in a heartbeat.

With the new modding system, Automatic Gauss rifle get HYPE

They both use magnetic rails or coils to accelerate a slug or bullet.
