The Brotherhood of Steel is in Boston?

Yes, they took a trip up from DC. Elder Lyons thought they deserved a vacation after beating up the Enclave and the Super Mutants of Vault 87 ![]()

^What do you want to start with? Guns, textures, new models; or player homes, quests, companions, etc?
I'm no good at texturing and modeling which can be very limiting. I'm good at storywriting, location building, and basic scripting.
. . .So I'll probably stick to quest/companion things. . .or a few silly fun mods just for myself (Bush helmet was best thing ever.).
So Todd mentioned in the conference that the game has over 50 weapons. Thats not exactly a big number, especially if we include melee/fist weapons in the number, so here's hoping the "over 700 mods" will make up for it.
It is also possible with this new modding system that weapons in general will be more scarce, which I think is better than finding assault rifles by the boatload in barrels and crates.
Shooting looks very promising in the trailers. Weapon animations appear to be more fluid, and it seems they have actual recoil. Not sure what to think of hitmarkers.
And give me my Gauss Rifle! Or better yet, a Railgun!!!
I'm probably THAT guy, but I rarely use Energy Weapons in FO. Just not my thing, but I get why they are bread and butter to many. I am a total small arms nut job. One thing I positively dug about NV was the breadth and depth of small arms...I mean those jokers (Obsidian) went overboard...and then piled on more guns with the GRA and their DLCs.
Well that wasn't even enough for me. I added on another 35 + specialized (and extraordinarily well done) modded weapons from Glocks, to 1911's, to Mossberg and Saiga shotguns, Masadas, M-14's, M4s with holo-sights, several very cool melee weapons, an AA-12, and a Barret 98B. I truly was in hog heaven in New Vegas: guns out the wazzoo, weapon mods, special ammo, handloads and reloading. Truly was a gun nerd's dream world between overzealous developers (hats off to Obsidian) and crafty modders, and I have been hooked replaying this game for literally 5 years.
If Bethesda falls flat on small arms, I'm really not too worried. That's where the mod community will pick up the ball and run. And I assume CaliberX will make another appearance if we only get "Shotgun" ammo. Still being positive
. That 10mm pistol I saw in action last night was fairly righteous.

I assume so. One of the enemies we saw was a "Brotherhood Initiate"

Yup, and Bethesda is not exactly famous for weapon variety. FFS, they couldn't even be arsed to include new textures/models for their unique weapons in both Skyrim and Fallout 3. The colossal variety of weapons (especially with all DLCs) in New Vegas was definitely a welcome change.
Given their track record, I will be closely following the modding scene for weapons. I love hoarding all that sh*t ![]()
I wish I could script. In my best mod, I had exactly three custom scripts, and they about had me pulling my hair out. I got them working of course, but I poured over tutorial after tutorial, and literally had to cut and paste from other's, and then hammer them into working fashion. It's a skill that just plain eludes me. IIRC, those three were water breathing, water purification, and night vision (?)..I'll have to go back and look at those again. I was really out my element there, but was ecstatic when I could get them working.
It is a beautiful pain, but I always find myself sad at having to work with vanilla assets then have this amazing idea you can't do.
I'm calling it now: The settlement building is going to seriously disappoint people.
This is not going to be a living, breathing city, folks. It's going to be a tin shack you build that gets attacked by mediocre enemies populated by a few NPCs with generic dialogue that sell doodads.
That assumes that Bethesda can actually DO a living breathing city.
Perhaps the player had no skills at that point? Perhaps they went the skyrim route of 'training' skills through use, and since the player has no such skills yet none are featured?
But that's never been the case. You don't get to choose to be the courier. You don't get to choose to be born in a vault. You're character barely has a character, but it doesn't make it your character. it just makes it no character. By making the player silent, and everything be mostly first person, but have it so that we talk through a text menu, that's not freedom. That's being forced to play a mute who can only say whatever ther pitboy allows them to say.
At least this gave some reason for there to be a character creator in the first place. Problem with making everything built around a first person perspective with 3rd person as a tacted on after thought, is that it makes it pointless for your character to even have a form beyond a basic body model. Like Bloodborne or Dark Souls, 98% of the time, you'll never see your character nor have a point to see your character.
That's just my take on it though. To me, there's no immersion or "I'm the character" sensation unless I can actually translate my words, into the game, and literally do whatever I want. Otherwise it isn't "my character" I'm playing, but rather "My Protagonist", a per-established character who I was allowed semi-control over, with the other half going to the writers and dev team.
Exactly. Unless we actually get to write our own dialogue, and the response of the NPCs we're talking to it is NEVER "your character". It's a character created by the game developers that they allow you to choose the appearance, dialogue options, and how they interact with the story in an entirely preset fashion.
It's the same with the TES games, but isntead of actual lines of dialogue you're railroaded into choosing (mostly) the clueless dialogue options. for example:
Serana: Do you know how vampires were created?
Player: Yes, I totally know how they were created, I read this nice book about it, but I can only say two options and neither of them bring it up.
are you kidding? every single game its spamming the same skills over and over, lockpick, science, speech, repair, rinse, repeat
Yep, and it's a chore every single time.
"You see this Scrap Metal? You can buy it."
What is this, Team Fortress 2? Will we be trading for hats next?

So what do you think about the next Fallout's music. I've already posted a comment about this in page 27 but you didn't see it:

So... dual wield pistols? ![]()
^Did you see that somewhere? That is something I've wanted since I first played FO.
EDIT: Always wanted to dual wield a pistol and a one-handed melee weapon.

I've always wanted to duct tape a machete to the end of a broomstick, and hack apart many a foe with a glave.

You know I don't think I made that weapon in my 2 or 3 hours in the game.

I went through a big Dead Rising phase in Early 2011. I think I made all of them ![]()
Fun games. Just not very substantial. Haven't gotten around to 3 yet.
Since State of Decay just kinda became my quintessential Zombie game.
Once it becomes paid, it's less like mods on PC and more like... custom build content sold via microtransactions with no guarantee it will work.
And some mod creators act like assholes. And I'm okay with that because it's free **** and I'm not expecting actual customer service with free ****.
But once it's paid? You know they're still gonna act the same!
I assume you'll shut down its Radio and listen to Metal and Punk music...
A retard move.

I shut off the radio so I can hear enemies, but now I'll do nothing but play other game's soundtracks on it.

PISTOL.
WHIP.
For you.

For me? Aww you shouldn't have! ![]()
Oh, hai, Gravi. Looking forward to exploring the environment outside of the vault? I hope Colaman has enough Nuka-Colas for the two of you. Lol.
He unfortunately didn't get in a Vault.
But I did find the truck he drove.
200 years later....
Also people don't listen to terrible 2000s emo rock to become a total edgelord in every game you play?

This is news to me.
