I'm going to build a fortress city called the Closed Curtain. It shall be called that because no one will know what is on the inside except for those that live there. There are going to be so many traps and defenses that no one can enter or leave without my say so. My people will be safe and they will thrive, but it will cost them their freedom. Tis the only way to keep them safe from the raiders, Deathclaws, and other threats that roam the waste. They might hate me for it and that is fine for I am willing to shoulder the hate to keep a portion of Boston safe and alive.

Dude you need to play as a Korean.

@Cyonan - that's exactly why I like the FO3 story less. I always felt the main quest was awkwardly ooc for my character, and the best he could do was end up severely bipolar - help the Brotherhood, then get Sarah killed, then killsat them... The latter both nice evil options, and I'm grateful for them, but I prefer my evil somewhat more... planned and pragmatic. Then there's the voiced protagonist issue which, along with some other factors, hints at Bethesda trying for a more plot-driven storyline. So the combination of a set pc background I don't like, and a plot that (due to limited dialog options due to full voice acting) has to continue that storyline - that does not bode well for me and my rpg preferences.

Well, Bethesda has never been very good at creating a main storyline quest. They tend to force a more heroic personality on the PC, which causes issue with neutral or evil aligned characters.

The main thing I hope for is that they stick with their style and let us immediately and forever ignore the main questline once we're done with the prologue. In that case, you can just use mods to remove the prologue part which I suspect will be out pretty quickly. Voiced protagonist will reduce the overall number of dialogue options, but we're pretty much stuck with that at this point.

It might be nice if they tried a Dragon Age: Origins thing where you can pick from one of a bunch of starting points once, because I actually did like the beginning vault sequence in FO3. It's just that you don't always want to be that character.

I'm not a monster, I am a preserver of civilization. I am ensuring that the people survive.

Oh, did I mention that I'm going to put an active nuke in the center of the fortress (I'd better be able to) and set it off if the Closed Curtain gets overrun?

Edit: I'm going to be butthurt if the Brotherhood of Steel show up, tie the nuke to a Vertibird, and dump it into the Boston Harbor when it detonates.

All true, but I admit I always feel like I haven't properly played the game if I don't complete the main quest, haha. FNV was really the pinnacle for me with the faction choices. I felt like being a villain was finally as viable as being a hero... for what those labels were worth in the Mojave wasteland, anyway. Well, nothing to do at this point but wait and see, I guess.

There is alot of ways it could go. All 3 of you could make it into the vault and then you awake alone and your family is gone. You have to find them. Someone has taken them, the insitute. They pit you against the Brotherhood, if you want, or you can use the Brotherhood to go at the institute to get them back. There are so many possibilities. I am curious if they will actually kill them off in the beginning, seeing as you can customize both characters before continuing on with the one you want, i am gonna say they will survive.

Don't know if you remember my earlier post where I said I'd hold off on what I think the whole "sole survivor" thing means for the main story, but let's just say, hmmmmm...very insightful of you.

BTW, I'm an old guy with wife, kids, dogs, guns, mortgage, mediocre golf game, blah, ...oh and happens to be a veteran. The main PC is pretty much my doppelganger...so no real issues with that here; but I do see why others may not dig it so much. Being on my own without the weight of the world on my shoulders, is just too far in my past for me to relate to.

But, I have no problem seeing it from other's perspective. I for one, do prefer a blank slate like Courier 6.

EDIT: which brings me to my real point: I'm wondering if you can make a baseball bat with nails AND those saw blades.

Gods I hope not on the mortgage...one's quite enough!

But as for golf...we're sure to see few clubs laying about, amiright? Perhaps we'll be able to tee up on a few raiders with a 9 iron...and maybe that 9 iron can be modified with spikes or nails, or even SAW BLADES! I think I'm liking this more and more.

Yep, mediocre golf mini-game confirmed!

I'm really interested in the part about Console mods. Here's to hoping that it works and other developers follow their example.

It will work. But it will be limited to esp and bsa files. Which is easy packed mods to be more accurate. You can get new guns, hairstyles, armor etc. There is alot that can be done with it and it is exciting. Also if Bethesda uses their new application Bethesda.net, they will probably screen mods that gets uploaded to it as console friendly, assuming it will be for PC aswell. Anyway will be fun to see when it releases, won't be before 2016 though.

After watching the Power Armor gameplay( XB 1 ), and studying the PA customization preview I'm now 100% certain Power Armor has its own HP value as well as a DR value( damage reduction ).

Edited: In fact, I can't help but think that each section of the PA has it's own HP value.

I wonder how the companions are going to turn out this game. I hope they're similar to New Vegas, even though Bethesda didn't do that one. Those were some interesting group of people, and I'll forever love Lily.  :D

Which could make a very nice combat mechanic. I think I saw the trailer showing how pieces of armor were blown away when they were shot, so the new segmented armour could also mean that you can specifically target individual parts and shoot them off.

Power armour enemy? Nail the helmet until it shatters and then pop the enemy's exposed head for a quick(-er) kill.

Just viewing the T-60 part of armor modding, each section does have its own health value (which we can assume is degradable). Each section also has its own weight value (and man, it looks like the entire armor set is going to be HEAVY after adding it all up), as well as monetary values.

Under the DMG Resist Tab there are three values. I am assuming these are:

Damage Resistance
Energy Resistance
Radiation Resistance

That is very interesting.

EDIT: And yes, I assume as well these pieces can be shot off, degrading/breaking the armor threshold (if they are using it in game) of your target.

Also noticed reviewing the weapon mod screen that DPS is not a visual stat for us like it was in New Vegas. That's not an issue really, because DPS is still calculated even in FO3. If you open the GECK DAM/DPS is calculated for each item. New Vegas happened to flash between DAM and DPS when you viewed a weapon in your inventory. Doesn't look like that will be back in FO4. But like I said, it'll still be an underlying mechanic.

Urgh, I really hope they finally start giving us sensible data. I want damage per shot and rate of fire. I can calculate DPS myself if I want to. I much rather prefer the basic stats than just being able to see a derivative value that doesn't tell me if the weapon has high dps because it has high damage per shot or very high rate of fire.

Ok Laser Muskets and Concord confirmed and new faction the Comowelth Minuitmen Confirmed.

and to point out that dureing the Powerarmor demo no armor mods were being used so what you saw was only a taste of what you can get.

I wonder about ammo , it was a pain for me in New Vegas.

My interest in guns is pretty low , so my brain just refused to remember anything about ammo.

Between buying the wrong type of ammo , and spending ages at the reloading bench+ pip boy+ looking at my companion inventory...It just wasn't the best.

I don't want them to remove the feature , I think gameplay wise , different ammo type+ being able to craft them+ weight in inventory (with hardcore mod ) added something .

I just really need a post it feature in the pip boy.

I also wonder about needs , I liked the whole drinking/eating /sleeping in NVegas.

Looks like they can watching the scene where a BoS initiate gets shot you see armor pices fall off.
