Something I would like to comment is how the start of the game is... odd. We are shown a family living in a rather idyllic lifestyle. The neighborhood is clean and quiet, everything goes on like normal, and yet, when I checked in the fallout wiki, the timeline states things were actually pretty bad:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline

In 2077, the USA was in the brink of utter colapse. Gas price was astronomic, the F.E.V program is leaked causing hysteria worldwide with everyone thinking the Americans will use biological weapons, food riots break out everywere and soldier in power armor are deployed, resulting in many civilian casualities, the army started to suffer large cases of desertion...

Anyway, that Demo certanly didn't made me feel the nation was in the brink of collapse.

Ukraine is in a civil war right now and I know people who live normal lives there. During WW1 an hours drive away from Verdun where hundreds of thousands of men died life was normal. The situation being bad doesn't mean that the situation is bad all the time, nor does it mean it is bad for everyone.

To me it is people overcompensating. If you are depressed and someone ask you "How are you feeling today" Are you really gonna say depressed? Maybe to a good friend, but to others you need the facade. So i like how they have shown this with colours in the trailer and now the gameplay. It just smacks you in the face that these people wants everything to be ok, it is human nature after all. That is my two bits on it anyway. We'll see.

Just because it was bad for the most part, doesn't necessarily all people lived horribly.

This is very much a reality is unrealistic type of trope.

That post was quote-less and generally out of context, I thought you were sarcastically adressing things like housing and stuff that "shouldn't be" in Fallout.

Except I was clearly in a conversation? Whatever. I don't care about any of those things being in game. Who plays a Beth game and hates power tripping that much, when the last one gave us the power to unmake the world by yelling?  There is really no greater metaphor or analogy than that.

I mean the virus and riots that was mentioned took place in the midwest and who knows what was going in Boston before the bombs hit.

I wasn't disagreeing. I just meant to invoke the trope: people's perception sets out their expectation, and they think events that might look realistic are unrealistic just based on that perception, e.g. how people think guns sound vs. how guns actually sound.

Bestheda not getting the lore right is, well, I mean we all saw the Brotherhood of Steel in FO3.

Did you even talk to the Brotherhood in FO3? It's made pretty clear this is a splinter group that the WC Brotherhood has all but disassociated with and the ones loyal to the original cause want no part of.

Basically this, the BoS in the Capital Wasteland wanted to help the people while the main BoS is largely 'We want ALL of the technology! Give it to us or else!'.

And as a result the BOS east coast grew and expanded while the west is dwindling into obscurity.

Well there is still the Outcasts in the Capitol. Though I guess they were still small...

I assumed they eventually moved back west since Veronica mentioned the civil war they've had.

Or communications through trade and stuff. The WSG made it too the Mojave as well.

I don't think we know what happens to the Outcasts. The civil war is mentioned, but the outcome and whereabouts of the rest of the Outcasts isn't. And the Mojave chapters obviously knew what was going on, but never did anything about it either.
