I normally like to start off with a better than even chance at criticals, a better than average ability to survive and heal myself, and some ability to carry all that junk (that I will inevitably be hoarding), and beat the crap out of people, since I'll start with minimal ammo availability.
I'll probably tag Small Guns, Explosives, and either Repair (hopefully Jury Rigging will return) or Lockpick (gotta have my loot and I despise being locked out of anything).

I really hope it's not true that you have to play a voice acted male caucasian only protagonist.
my lone wanderer was a female red head caucasian woman, loved her tons. Daddy's little girl grew up to save the wasteland and was kind of a superhero to the waste. I also projected myself on to her dad. lol

Twas confirmed that you can play as a voice acted female. And you can customize how you look as well.

Luck was useful in New Vegas, where with about 7-8 luck you could start absolutely owning the casinos (regularly winning at Blackjack), which brought quick money just after getting to New Vegas.
Yeah, but that was Vegas. This is Boston. You HAVE to do a high Intelligence character.
Why? Because it's Boston - you gotta be wicked smaaart.

I was LCK 10 in New Vegas and managed to get kicked out of every casino...and nearly every shot I took was a critical!
I played a luck 1 in NV so I could keep playing Blackjack as long as possible.
I still got kicked out in a month. ![]()

I will probably do my normal plow extra points into ST, EN, and LCK, with everything else being fairly even. I usually start off this way and then build other Primaries over time...IF...IF...they still have Intense Training. If not, there will be a mechanism to raise SPECIAL attributes.

Huh, luck is not that crucial at scoring critical hits in fallout. At most, a luck of 10 will give you a 10% critical chance bonus. Not that big of an boost. I mostly pick luck for the general skill boost.
My favoured tagged skills would be guns, or small guns if they remove survival. Speech and repair. I never cared much for lockpicking TBH. I could aways backtrack later once my skill was higher.

Let's go to Las Vegas together IRL, even if your luck is crap we are bound to win (as long as you stick to Blackjack)! ![]()

Ah yes, but 10% isn't all that bad a boost + you add other augments + sneak skill (I assume it will be there) + sneak crit and you begin to become quite the powerhouse early on.

Now I feel bad for not playing those casino games.
One of the reasons was that I had bought dozens of cards but the set was still incomplete. I didn't put much time to gather them. The only time I had the set, I didn't play much either.

i have it, however having Raul repair the piles of stuff i took from wiping out Black Mountain, The Silver Rush, The Fort and so on, then killing him to get the caps back before selling everything he repaired for an additional 300k sounded like a better plan
add that to all the gold bars i got from the Sierra Madre and im the cap king ![]()

And here I thought Dragon age companions had a high mortality rate.
I would just scavange a **** load of supplies and craft weapon repair kits, then sell weapons repaired with them and make a nice profit.

Same here. There is huge profit in repairing from WRKs rather than like weapons, even with Jury rigging. By mid-game I have literally hundreds of repair kits. They are insanely easy to craft.
I find it best to invest them (they're worth what? 20 caps) and spend five on a high end weapon repair for trade, and you can make anywhere from 10 to 40 times their worth. Even bouncing from trader to trader, there isn't enough caps in the Wasteland on the standard three day replen cycle to keep up with that. That's why I love to see high-level Legion kill squads coming at me; they have great drops. I know it's an exploit, but hey, the game let's you do it through normal gameplay.

I did my best not to get vilified by the Legion too early. Those squads really hurt at low levels.
Money never mattered too much to me anyway. The most I spent it for was to upgrade the Lucky 38 after I installed some mods and to buy ammo and meds when it got short. The rest I just found with exploration and looting.

When I did accidentally do that(Or felt the burning passion of avenging Nipton) I would go through the Deathclaw areas as a diversion, I can outmaneuver Deathclaws, I can't outmaneuver bullets.
